jenny kotulak photos: Foto Friday - When Niagara Falls - It Falls - 08/07/09 05:12 PM
My niece is visiting Ontario from Calgary, Alberta and we had the pleasure of having her stay with us for a couple of days this week.   She is about to turn 13 so we asked her what she would like to do yesterday.  She was quite keen to visit the Eaton Centre in Toronto to do some shopping.
Instead, we ended up in Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Our first stop was to see the Welland Canal in St. Catharines.  That is another whole post in itself.  Once in the "Falls" we lunched at the buffet restaurant in the Sheraton Fallsview.  And to … (21 comments)

jenny kotulak photos: Sunday Drive - Back Roads Ontario - 08/04/09 09:18 AM
Have you ever looked at something/someone and thought that at one time it/they  must have been very beautiful?  But time passes, and with age beauty often fades.  When is that magic moment when beauty turns to character?  Cracks in the foundation?  Fine lines on the face? A weathered look?
I happened across this farm house in rural Ontario this past weekend.  I noticed it was abandoned when I drove by, but I was drawn to it, so I turned my car around, grabbed my camera and trespassed. (shh)
What I saw was both enlightening and sad.  At one time this would have … (14 comments)

Take a GOOD look.  You may have to explain to your children and grand children in the future just what this PRE blogging, texting, twittering,  Web 2.0 social networking/media, old dinosaur was used for. For 130 years the telephone has ruled the social networking air waves world wide.
Who is trying to put the muzzle on a 1970's teenager's lifeline to her friends?  Back then we had 1 phone, with a cord.  In the kitchen. On the wall. With rotary dial. No privacy there to speak of. Remember the discovery of touch tone?  Cordless?  Five free phone jacks in your house?
Then came the cell phone.  REALTORS were one of … (31 comments)

jenny kotulak photos: Foto Friday - Who Stopped The Rain ? - 07/30/09 05:01 PM
Something strange happened in Oakville today.  It didn't rain.  Not a drop.  I know I'm not the only one to have noticed.  It actually felt like the first day of summer.  Quite sad since August arrives on Saturday.
I was speaking with someone in Seattle today and it was over 100 degrees F. there.  What happened to our heat here in Ontario this year?  There have been some benefits from the amount of rain we have seen this month.  The lawns are green and gardens are gorgeous.  There has been no need to run the central air conditioning.
I happened to … (24 comments)

jenny kotulak photos: Oakville Real Estate - Bronte Village - 07/26/09 03:04 PM
Bronte Village is one of Oakville's most charming neighbourhoods.  Located on the shores of Lake Ontario and at the mouth of the 12 Mile Creek, Bronte Village offers a mix of old and new when it comes to real estate. An evening stroll down Fisherman's Wharf and to the Bronte Outer Harbour Marina are reason enough to want to call Bronte Village home.
Bronte has seen many changes over the years, with older cottages being replaced with modern executive style town homes and detached homes.  The downtown shopping area has been reviatalized and now many boutiques, cafes and restaurants service the area residents plus … (7 comments)

Does life get you down sometimes? Maybe you just have to look at the world from a different angle.  Take time to stretch the body and stretch the mind.  Enjoy your surroundings and hang on tight to things you love. Get back to nature and maybe even hug a tree.

Friday evening and I was off to show condos in beautiful Bronte Village.  The Four "Ennisclare" condominium buildings on Marine Drive in Oakville appeal to those who desire lakeside living with luxurious amenities.  Some of the units I showed had stunning views from the balconies of the Toronto skyline at sunset.  Others overlooked Bronte harbour and outer marina.
I can only imagine waking up every morning and seeing Lake Ontario from my bedroom.  After the showings, I decided to take a walk down the Bronte Pier.  Dusk was setting in and the area was quiet, peaceful and serene.

jenny kotulak photos: Sunday Drive - Shakespeare, Ontario - 06/23/09 05:24 AM
The village of Shakespeare, Ontario was founded in 1832.  It is a small hamlet located 30 miles west of Kitchener-Waterloo and 7 miles east of Stratford.  There is one set of traffic lights.  It is one of those villages that people pass through quickly, on their way to Stratford to see the Shakespeare Festival.
It really is worth taking the time to stop though, to browse the numerous antique stores and enjoy a tea or ice cream at the Harry Ten Shilling Tea Room.  If you have the time, venture onto the country side roads and you will find large farms, old churches … (34 comments)

jenny kotulak photos: You've Heard It Before - "I'm Too Busy" - For What? - Life? - 05/29/09 11:55 PM
"I'm too busy".  We all say it because sometimes we genuinely are, but not all the time.  I'm sure you know people who say those three words "I'm too busy" constantly.  Why is this?  How can anyone be too busy to enjoy life?
We all know that rushing causes stress.  I think some people have lots on their mind and actually think they are busier than they really are.  It's easy to "overbook" yourself.  If your schedule is too full, perhaps it's time to say NO to some of the things that are filling your day. You don't have to overcommit.

jenny kotulak photos: Speechless Sunday - In The Garden - 05/17/09 01:01 PM
My In-laws live in Northern Ontario where the growing season is shorter than where I live, 2 hours to the south.  How then can I explain why their garden puts mine to shame on an annual basis?  Better soil?  Extra fertilizer?  NOPE.  My mother in-law swears it's because my father in-law talks to his plants and flowers.
Sound crazy?  Well I must admit my father in-law is not a crazy man. He is a loving, hard working man who adores his wife of almost 57 years, dotes on his children and grandchildren and has many, many friends.
So if having conversations with … (18 comments)

jenny kotulak photos: Spring Is In The Air - Bronte Harbour - Oakville, Ontario - 03/07/09 04:49 PM

One of the great benefits that has come from blogging has been my renewed interest in photography.  I take my camera with me everywhere now.  Yesterday I thought I would get a few more photos of one of the two lovely harbours we have in Oakville.  I hadn't planned to catch the sunset so that was a bonus.  I never knew I would have so much fun chasing ducks to try to get a good shot.  The ducks in this photo only visit our parts twice a year.
