WAHOO!!! FINALLY!  Our ISPs are going to help release us from at least a little spam and heck up their stocks value at the same time ;-)  Now we just need to figure out how to get China and South Korea to pay for e-mail comming out of their country...  Geesh Out GDP would shoot through the roof!  Just from spam payments :-P
Five of the largest ISPs in the US are to start charging businesses for guaranteed delivery of their emails, in a bid to combat spam.

advertising: SEM and Advertising 101 - Banner Ads -Vs- PPC - 04/17/07 11:22 AM
Banner ads are in the SEM (Search Engine Marketing) world generally a waste of money...  At least if you are on a budget.  If you have several thousand to spend per month for branding then go for it.  Banners would be great for getting your name out there and letting people see your face and name.
 The general click through rates on text ads (PPC) are generally higher than banner ads.  Due to the great old fact of over exposure.  People SEE THOUSANDS of ads every day, so text ads don't come of as offensive or just junk to the sub-conscience.
