cheryl willis: Not everyone is a mind reader but.... - 02/03/09 03:11 AM
Quick story:  Daughter ran her phone to the phone store b/c it wasn't keeping a charge.  Nice guy at the store 'gave' her a new battery and said, this should do it"  Daughter was thrilled b/c the phone is not under warranty and she assumed she was 'out of luck'-  Happy Day,  Happy Daughter!
Next day, same daughter, same phone, new battery doesn't keep a charge either.  Daughter returns to the phone store.  Different attendant takes the phone apart, replies you are not under warranty, it will be 200 dollars for a new phone.  Un-happy Day, Un-happy Daughter.
That evening, daughter … (8 comments)

cheryl willis: Wordless! Speaks for itself - 02/03/09 02:33 AM

I always enjoy getting to show off one of the Grands.  This little cutie is the only grand-daughter so we get to do a little extra spoiling.  She is a sweet-heart and was so excited about getting to blow out the candle.  This shot is when we were singing Happy B-day and she just grinned and grinned.

cheryl willis: SW Missouri Home Inspector - 02/02/09 06:19 AM
Everyone that knows me, knows I love my inspectors.  I have to take a minute to brag that I have 'found' another one that knows his stuff.  I would like to recommend Sean O'Rear to customers & clients in my lovely part of the state of Missouri.

It is very refreshing as a REALTOR to be able to know that the peers we work with are worthy of our recommendation.   Feel free to let him know I said to call- I always look forward to seeing a job well done.
Here's Sean's direct link to his website        Be good-  cheryl

The MHDC (Missouri Housing Development Commission) has announced a new program to work in conjunction with the Federal First Time Home buyer Tax Credit program. This is exciting news for buyers that want to buy a home and qualify to buy a home but do not … (1 comments)

cheryl willis: CONSUMERS HAVE CHANGED..... Chapter 3. (re-blog) - 01/19/09 12:40 AM
Thanks Lenn, for taking the time to share an informative 'rant'.  OK it is not a rant, more of a FYI to the reality of working with the 'Public'.  IMHO the risk one takes working in a service industry has as much to do with the individuals values as it does with the consumers goals.  This well written post can cross all peer groups.  I expect to see this taken to heart by a lot of us in the industry.  Enjoy:  cw

The comments to the Chapter 1 and 2 of this series have generated more topics of interest.  The comment below … (6 comments)

cheryl willis: Separation Anxiety? re-blog - 01/15/09 07:22 AM
Kevin is one of my 'favorite' inspector guys.  (There are several) but Kevin has the honor of being 'my first'.  As peers on Active Rain, I have the privilege to get a front row seat to the outs and abouts of these great men.  I love Kevin's way of educating in a way that I can then share with my clients/customers.
Today I want to share his post on SEPARATON ANXIETY--  enjoy  cw

cheryl willis: Club Chaos Eye Candy Contest- - 01/10/09 06:49 AM
This years theme for the CLUB CHAOS EYE CANDY CONTEST is Winter!  No problem, I have plenty of time to get some great shots to share with my readers and show off my lovely part of our great state of Missouri.
Biggest problem I ran into is I am a procrastinator when it comes to taking time to have a bit of creative fun.  I also am finding out that I tend to like to tweak the rules a bit.  When Carolyn sent me a notice that today was the last day to submit to the contest I knew I had … (8 comments)

cheryl willis: Stop Growing Mold In Your Home- (re-Blog) - 01/10/09 05:54 AM
Once again I find my favorite peers are writing on topics I have an interest in.  This post is from one of the inspector guys who often shares his wit and expertise with me and the rest of his readers.  Take a minute to educate yourself to the causes of mold and then STOP GROWING IT IN YOUR HOME!-
Even in SW Missouri we can have issues with moisture.-

The information in this post goes beyond the standards of a normal home inspection. It is rather detailed. However, the issues described are problems that a home inspector sees and, periodically, might have … (3 comments)

cheryl willis: Wordless (OK I will add a couple of words to get us started) - 01/09/09 10:08 AM

Here's a BIG Thank You to Lenn for the quizi-google juice.
I lift my half-full glass to offer a blessing.
May you continue to educate us by sharing your time and experiences in our chosen careers.
May Google follow you and be kind.
Technically not a WORDLESS but how cool is this that I got an alert today that included almost complete sentences-  Peers beware what you comment on, your clients/customers are going to know who you are hanging around with.

cheryl willis: Let me show you my bedroom......! Hold on it's another re-blog - 01/08/09 07:10 AM
I am a total fan of RE-BLOGGING!  Especially since my favorite peers always have such interesting/informative posts to share.  I know what you are thinking: "The TITLE of Charles's post is enough to want to read more" but you would be wrong---the content is a great read for clients/customers of all of us.  What better way to help educate the public (isn't that what we are about?) AND clear up the misconceptions on what is a BEDROOM!   *Special note of thanks to Charles for keeping his clothes on for this presentation!
Enjoy--Everything you EVER wanted to know about.......

cheryl willis: Wordless: Keep or Pitch? - 01/07/09 09:10 AM

Thanks to all the peers who took time to comment on the above photo.  I got a kick out of seeing how the image could stir comversation.   As soon as one of my blogger inspector guys writes a real post on how to deal with 'mold' I will do a re-blog to share with our readers.  Be good and stay moisture free- cheryl

cheryl willis: Sometimes compromise is not a good thing! - 12/30/08 05:40 AM
I am pretty good about looking at a situation and knowing if it is good or not good.  As a REALTOR my job is to assist clients in the home buying process.  I am a BIG FAN of getting a home-inspection.  My good friend and peer Charles has shared a situation that I found worthy of re-blogging.-
Remember to not only check your clearance but clean out the vent!  Make sure you hire a good inspector to find the 'hidden' just didn't know betters.  -cw

cheryl willis: Wordless / Eye Candy - 12/20/08 01:35 AM
I like to participate in the WORDLESS for several reasons.  One is the banter and debate over how images are viewed by the peer group.  Another is sometimes I just don't have my 'words' together as to what I want to say.
I want to THANK everyone who commented on this piece.  For those that object to this style of expression, I understand, and JFYI this is an artistic electronic media product and I am not sure HOW he did it.  The comment section will give the readers 'clues' to what is going on.
Thanks again to all who commented.  be … (27 comments)

cheryl willis: My daughter got run over and not by a reindeer! - 12/18/08 02:08 AM
Good news is she is alive and well and back home.  Read her version of the exciting event!
Things I am Thankful for:
1 :  daughters with a  sense of humor.
2 : tall trees in the front yard so I don't really have to 'see' everything going on outside.
3: 911 and all the professional responders.
4: cell phones so I could be 'there' when I can't 'be there'.
5: a belief system that provides comfort in time of distress.
6:  family and friends to share the tale with.
Have a Merry Christmas!

Here's her "story"
So today was probably … (19 comments)

cheryl willis: Social Networking in the Crafting World - 12/10/08 03:34 AM
When I ran across this article by peer and group member Cheryl Johnson, I knew I had to share it with my readers and get it posted in another of my favorite groups.     cheryl (here's one favorite group)willis

First off, I am not really a crafter.
But many long time Active Rainers may remember that some time ago, I promised a friend, Lilian, that I would help her start selling some of her handmade jewelry items on item.
That little project has been, and continues to be, a remarkable learning experience.
I've learned some simple product photography techniques.  I've learned … (7 comments)

cheryl willis: Holiday Acceptance not just for Christmas anymore! - 12/09/08 02:03 PM
A most Blessed Valentine's Day
Thursday, February 14, 2008 .....
I wrote the most loving note about part of my day today that I wanted to share.  I of course
didn't 'save' it and when I hit spell check- lost the page..  I am too tired to try re- draft my
thoughts (or the mini novel I typed), and I know that tomorrow I won't remember the mood I
was writing BUT this page will serve as a reminder that I need to pay attention (even at night-
when I am tired).  So sorry everyone missed it- it was a good … (7 comments)

cheryl willis: Lenn Harley- called me out! - 12/06/08 03:02 AM
Those that know me know I am a fan of staying current, in the know, up to speed, (add your own positive buzz words that mean doing the best I can).  I love this phase of my life.
My mother was right, it is all just a phase and I will out grow it soon (wait this is not a therapy issue!)  The reality is the real estate market is different things to different people.  For qualified buyers it is an awesome time to purchase.  To a homeowner who has been laid off from work, not such a good time.

cheryl willis: Have you considered a VA loan, who would you want to work with? - 12/05/08 11:22 AM
I had a rather nice conversation with Brian yesterday concerning his article on VA Loans.  I originally intended to re-blog this post sooner but wanted to touch base with him first.  My family has been playing the 'who is really sick and who is just a little sick' game this week.  Last night I was the winner!  It has taken me most of the day today just to get my 'pretend to be human' face back on.
Most lenders in my area have access to VA loan products.  When I did a quick informal survey this afternoon, I was surprised to learn that … (4 comments)

cheryl willis: Can you run the numbers for me please? 601 S Walnut Mt Vernon MO J J Apts. - 11/25/08 09:34 AM
I am listing a multi-family, 4 x four-plex.  What would be the top 3 things an investor is going to look for to make this property move to the 'Let's take a look at the books" list?
16 individual one bedroom/one bath apartments with appliances.  A very nice central laundry on site.  Section 8 contracts, long term occupants, paved parking, park like setting.  Additional land to build more units. (total 2.52 acres m/l).  So tell me what Top Three things do you want to know?
I will answer in the comments section.

cheryl willis: QUILT VIDEO - 11/21/08 10:44 AM
Thought I would show off a couple of my quilts-  I ran across an old commercial that our son Jesse shot for a school project.  If I remember correctly he received an "A".
Hubby didn't want to wear PJ's for the video and I refused to be filmed in my birthday suit.  This is one of the few times I won the discussion. (yeah me)
These quilts are from my personal collection at the time.  Many have been given away.  I still have a few saved back for the kids.  My stash is over flowing and hopefully there will be many … (10 comments)
