Did you know that.... Alameda has the largest number of Victorians, per capita, than any city in the world. San Francisco Business Times featured Alameda CA...and pointed out that Alameda Has the largest number of Victorian homes per capita, than any city in the world Has the second highest number of boat slips per capita of any city in the world, after Marina Del Rey Home to the oldest operating municipal electric system in California. Focusing on the subject of Victorians.... San Francisco is also famous for its many gorgeous Painted Ladies gracing the City. And to think that at (5 comments)
alameda homes: Architectural Gems in Alameda CA

Alameda CA has always enchanted me. And now that I live here, I continue to enjoy the small-town charm. I've never lived in a place (besides San Francisco) where there are so many delightful Victorians. Yesterday, I needed cheering up....so I drove around, snapping pictures (from my car) of some of the homes and architectural details that caught my eye. Thought I'd share a few.
After taking these pictures (and a few others) I felt better ---- immediately! I will keep my camera handy and take more HAPPY pictures. Geez, I LOVE THIS ISLAND CITY!

I've got to go on a diet! Ah, vanity...and a cold dose of reality. They say TV puts on 10 lbs on you. But after seeing myself, it looks like I've gained 100 lbs! My house is worth what? The show is "My house is worth what?" and it aired tonight at 11 pm EST/PST, and will air again this Sunday at 7pm. Even after the remodeling they've done and still doing, their property is worth $100K (8 comments)

I mentioned that there are a couple of fixers on the west side of town that they should also check out. Both said they weren't keen on seeing anything there (they're east enders, and there's a bit of west vs east mentality). I persuaded them to let me show those properties anyway, and (3 comments)
alameda homes: Listed at $499K, but they won't take anything less than $594K. WHAT?

There is a listing in Alameda CA that has got us shaking our heads. It's a short sale listing for a ranch style home, 3 bedrooms/2 baths, and steps to the beach. It's listed at $499K. However, the confidential remarks says that the loan "negotiator countered at$594K and needs an offer ASAP." The listing agent who is from out of the area, was asked why she didn't simply list the price at what the lender wants to cut to the chase. She responded that they do this all the time in Hayward to stimulate interest and get people to show it. Then she off-handedly says, "This is (12 comments)
