paris911: Starting up a Real Estate Business - 07/03/07 05:44 PM
So about 10 years ago Paris and I started our Real Estate business.  Through a lot of blood, sweat and many, many, many tears, we formed our business as "Paris911".  I applied for the trademark via legal-zoom.com and approximately two years later it was granted to us.
Paris, because she was the full timer, and the 911 because I was playing cop for LAPD and part-time Realtor.  I still play cop, but only twice a month for free.  That is something that I will never get out of my system.  I just resigned after 17 years and 13 years as a … (1 comments)

paris911: Who is covering your back??? - 07/01/07 05:50 AM
Lets talk safety in Real Estate.  Not the aspect of production and establishing a "net" for your financial future.  No, I want to speak about your safety.  I am not speaking about lawsuits or the sort, most of those can be averted by the simple rule of thumb, "Disclose, Disclose, Disclose".
How many times have you had someone call as a buyer wanting to see one of your listings in the next 10 minutes?  I say "pose" because that might be what is really happening.  This phone call could be conducted by a predator.  We do have our pictures all over God's green … (6 comments)

paris911: Breaking the 10K mark... and moving a desk... - 06/30/07 01:18 PM
Making the transition from one RE/MAX to one in a different area, albeit only 22 miles away from my front door, seemingly is not much of a problem.
The moving of my desk from Santa Clarita to Encino seems to have posed more of a distraction than I had expected at first glance.  I expected things to not be a problem.  The desks in the office that I was going to move into, should be moved out without a hitch.  But seemingly those gremlins have come in and started their work.
First of all, the desks could not be moved out in time for … (3 comments)

paris911: Paris and I are splitting up... - 06/27/07 03:09 AM
There comes a time in everyone's life that change is necessary to grow.
I am not looking at the decision we have made as a negative, but something that will help us to come to a better realization of who we are as individuals and life-partners.
Paris and I have come to a decision about our business and the Paris911 concept.  We are going to divide our strategy and expand our business.  Paris will remain at RE/MAX of Santa Clarita where Paris911 is apparently dug in deeper than an Alabama Tick.  I will be going to the RE/MAX On The Boulevard (OTB Estates).
This change … (4 comments)

When you depart from this world, how will you be remembered?
These are the ways in which I want to be remembered:

paris911: Who's Brand Do You Wear? - 05/24/07 01:04 AM
As a follow up to my piece on Branding, I feel it necessary to share some of the ways in which I move Paris911 to the masses.
After development of the brand and accompanying logo, it was now time to push our brand.  My vision was and still is connecting the Brand with a person's understanding of what it means.  So when they see a billboard, bus bench, advertisement in publication, or our logo in some other arena, they will connect the Paris911 Brand with Real Estate.  The goal is to have a caller or contact comment that we are "everywhere".  When … (3 comments)

paris911: To Brand or not to Brand? That is the question. - 05/23/07 06:34 AM
When it comes to any business that is interested in procuring new customers or retaining past clients, it is very necessary to be both persistent and consistent.  Usually when you are in the process of working in some way for a client, you need not worry about whether or not they are going to be loyal.  The "Loyal" speech should have been one of the first things spoken about and agreed upon.
If you look at some of the huge names in the world that have a product to sell like McDonalds and Amazon.  One of which sells fast food and the … (4 comments)

paris911: Part VI and VII, Breath Control and Trigger Control - 05/03/07 05:11 AM
Regarding breathing and controlling breath.  When a shooter has to make a precision shot it very important for him/her to see how breathing effects the sighting of the weapon.  In order to do this they can hold the weapon out as if shooting and watch the sights move up and down with each breath.  Therefore, it becomes necessary to "hold" breath when pressing.
Regarding Trigger Control, the shooter is told to imagine a "press" to describe how his finger will work the trigger.  Pulling, denotes not straight to the rear, slapping is too abrupt not achieving a surprise break, and rushing the … (0 comments)

paris911: Part V - Sight Picture - 05/01/07 03:29 AM
Mechanically, the shooter must be made aware of how the pointing of the sights on the weapon function.  You will be cutting in half the center of mass of whatever you are shooting.  If you are unsure of your target or other related dangers that come about as a result of discharging, then we are to be held to a higher standard, and should refrain from engagement.
I know that I have a picture in my mind of my perfect business model.  The way I present listing information to a prospective seller.  Not to mention the way that I speak with first time buyers.  I … (0 comments)

paris911: Part IV - Sight Alignment - 04/30/07 04:57 AM
How does Proper Sight Alignment relate to Real estate.  Understanding how sights are designed is very important to the shooter.  They also need to know the sights have limitations.  Example, the only parts of the sights that are measured and cut within specific tolerances are the tops of the sights.  I say this because if you have tritium elements installed, for near total darkness engagement, you will notice that most of the systems are made up of three dots.  They have brilliant white paint surrounding the tritium elements.  Most shooters align the three dots, two on the rear blade and the front … (0 comments)

paris911: Part III - How is your Grip? - 04/29/07 05:24 AM
The Grip as it relates to holding a hand fired or shoulder fired weapon is essentially the same.  You do not want to over do it, thereby inducing muscle tremors.  You want to have about 60-80% of your maximum grip wrapped around the stocks.  If you are at your maximum amount of grip then you will be shaking; vs. if you are holding it with an extremely relaxed grip, you will allow it to fly out of your hand during recoil, or become one of those dreadful re-grippers.
When I meet someone, the handshake part of the contact is very meaningful to me.  If the … (5 comments)
