Cocoa was originally called Indian River City, but In October of 1895 the town of "Cocoa" was incorporated. The restored historic downtown is bordered by the Indian River and still has many older and original buildings. The downtown is a mix of many different businesses, highlighted by the great restaurants, specialty stores, antique and art galleries, as well as the Cocoa Village Playhouse.
