rathdrum: KTEC Orientation with Mark Cotner. What a breath of fresh air! - 08/29/12 01:53 AM
KTEC Orientation with Mark Cotner.  What a breath of fresh air!  KTEC will succeed because it is going to be a no nonsense training facility for young people.  At the orientation last evening Mark laid it on the line, dress like you are already working in that profession, no metal at school, do not miss class, be respectful, you never know when a perspective employer will be walking through your class area..  And best of all you will also be earning college credits.

If you have not yet been out to see this new training center, do yourself a favor … (0 comments)

The young skaters are over at the ice arena checking daily on the progress.  They can hardly wait to get their skates on and test this new ice rink.  The community is so ready for this facility … (0 comments)

rathdrum: KTEC our new technical being out in Rathdrum - 07/13/12 03:40 AM
What a marvelous experience I had yesterday.  I had a private tour of KTEC, our new technical school being built out in Rathdrum.  Mark Cotner was very gracious and showed us all the new buildings and talked about their purpose and how the students would be using the space as they are being taught skills that will enable them to support themselves and build careers.

KTEC has had so many applicants that a second shift has been added and they still are having to put students on a waiting list in most areas.

Local businesses have been donating equipment, … (2 comments)

rathdrum: Kootenai Tecnical Eduaction Campus in Rathdrum Idaho - 03/27/12 02:57 AM
We are so blessed that the educators in Kootenai County see the very strong benefits to offering an alternative to going to a college after high school.  That alternative is Kootenai Technical Education Campus. The Kootenai Technical Education Campus in Rathdrum, Idaho, offers a two-year program for local high school students. There are eight programs ranging from automotive technology to a resort academy. Students who are admitted can work toward high school and college credits. This is where young people can learn a skill and provide a living for themselves as they investigate where they want to channel their education for a … (0 comments)

rathdrum: Interest in KTEC Technical School is Amazing - 02/24/12 01:47 AM
Wow the interest in KTEC has been overwhelming!  They were hoping to have applicants for the 280 spaces that would be available for the September 2012 opening and guess what?! They now have almost 900 applicants!  KTEC is now considering the possibility of adding a third shift to accommodate more students.  A school of this type is clearly demonstrating that it is a necessity, welcome, and a desired addition for our communities.

If you have not driven by the building site for KTEC, you need to.  The steel building structures are taking shape and you will see many people, busy working … (0 comments)

rathdrum: Some more great pictures from "Canstruction!" - 12/14/11 08:57 AM
I've done a couple of posts on the Ednetics Holiday meeting. The employees at Ednetics got together to donate 21,650 cans of food to local food banks. Before the food was donated, the employees got together to build some amazing sculptures out of the cans! Below are the sculptures they came up with.

rathdrum: Canstruction is tons of fun for a good cause! - 12/13/11 07:57 AM
Ednetics decided to do something a little different this holiday. Each year Ednetics, in Post Falls Idaho, has a Holiday meeting with a fun theme. This year instead of giving gifts to each other, the employees decided to do something a little bigger. They bought 21,650 cans of food from the local Post Falls Walmart and Super One.
Then the employees split into teams of 4 or 5 to build sculptures out of their cans. Hence the "Canstruction" theme of the meeting. To make the meeting even more fun, the wining teams would also get $500 to apply to a charity … (0 comments)

Outstanding charity donation by Post Falls, Idaho company Ednetics:
Every year Ednetics holds an annual Holiday meeting. Past years have featured Sci Fi, Olympics, and Hollywood themes. The Holiday meeting is a time for all of the employees from Ednetics three different branches can come together for team building exercises and lots of fun.
This year, Ednetics has decided to do something a little different. Each team (3-5 employees per team) will get a pallet of canned food to build a holiday themed sculpture. The teams have two days to build their sculptures. Some ideas that teams have been discussing include: … (0 comments)

rathdrum: Reconnecting with friends - 12/01/11 01:57 PM
I want to tell you about what a great day I had today. I was out delivering calendars to friends and past clients.  It was so much fun reconnecting with people.  As Realtors sometimes we just get caught up in our work and literally do not take the time to stop and smell the coffee.  I am resolving right now to go out and spend more time with all my friends and past clients.
The day was a great day being out in the neighborhoods driving, no ice or snow on the roads and the prediction is that this weather will … (2 comments)

rathdrum: Frontier Ice Arena gets $150,000 Grant - 11/22/11 04:52 AM
We have good news from Frontier Ice Arena here is North Idaho but it also means that we in the community have to get to work.  A grant for $150,000 has been approved for the new ice rink but we don’t get the grant unless we can meet the Capital Campaign amount of $800,000.  Currently, we are short $214,000.  The North Idaho area ice skaters really need a local rink to skate at, so they don't have to drive over to Spokane for ice time.  This rink would serve Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Hayden and even the Sandpoint areas.

Mark Cotner is the director for KTEC and he was director of COSSA in Southern Idaho before accepting the challenge of the new professional high school in Rathdrum.  The new facility is being built near … (0 comments)

rathdrum: Quiet day on the prairie in Post Falls Idaho - 11/13/11 10:08 AM
Snow did arrive here on the prairie, but with the wind and sunshine it quickly disappeared. I have a picture here of Rathdrum Mountain and as you can see there is bit of snow there.  This is my view everyday from the back patio.  Pretty nice don’t you think?  Anyway we are being told that there are 3 or4  storm systems backed up in the Pacific and we are going to have much more snow very soon.  So the snow pictures will be along soon.  Otherwise it is a slow day on the prairie.

The KROC Center, what an asset to our communities of Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden and Rathdrum!  The KROC Center is only a couple of years old and already they have approximately 20,000 members (in a city of 35,000).
