A while back I wrote about an article that Cooper City Commissioner James Curran wrote in our local magazine, basically making the case for the 2012-2013 budget for the city. He wrote a follow up article, thanking everyone for their support, and breaking down where the money will be going.

I am a Cooper City resident, and I have to say one of the biggest selling points of the city is the amazing public schools it offers. We have some of the finest public schools in Broward County, and parents all over the county know this and flock to our city.
Our Commissioner Jeff Green pinpointed that our schools are so wonderful because we have dedicated school professionals and lots of parental involvement. One of our commissioners, James Curran, wrote an article in DRW Magazine about the sacrifices that Cooper City has had to make in order to keep it a special place to live. Like all Florida governments, the city is "knee deep" in budget issues and concerns.
One of the biggest issues is that it's becoming a struggle to keep up with necessary maintenance to the cty and still stay within our means. Every day on my way to work, I pass a sign that tells me that Cooper City’s sister city is Killarney, Ireland. I wasn’t sure what being a sister city really meant, so of course I Googled it. Wikipedia was nice enough to let me know that sister cities (or twinned cities) are “cooperative agreements between towns, cities, and even counties in geographically and politically distinct areas to promote cultural and commercial ties”.
