home selling: It's Fall Y'all ~ Let's Deck the Halls - 10/16/22 07:17 PM
Fall is certainly in the air and lots of Fall decor is popping up everywhere. When we think about "decking the halls", we typically think about Christmas decor. However, we can certainly bring the Fall decor to our doorsteps and into our homes for a cozy, seasonal change.
Here are some excellent Fall decor tips:
Front Door & Porch - arrange pumpkins, baskets of mums, bales of hay, and Fall-themed wreaths to create an instant, "Welcome Fall" look. Create a corner that appears natural and free-flowing. The more natural materials the better to avoid a too "crafty" appearance.
Fall Scents - Nothing says Fall … (11 comments)

home selling: Spring Cleaning; Preparing to Sell - 03/20/22 12:46 PM
Can you believe that Spring is officially here? I always love this time of year as it reminds me of new beginnings, a fresh start, and a time to remove those things in our lives and in our homes that no longer serve us.
Spring is also the beginning of many homes going on the market to sell. With that in mind, homeowners need to take a moment to assess several things as they prepare to place their homes on the market. This quick post provides some easy tips to do prior to going live with a listing.
1. EXTERIOR - Take a … (9 comments)

home selling: Does Your Home Pass the Smell Test? - 09/30/20 03:50 PM
Does Your Home Pass the Smell Test?

Sellers, the way your home smells matters! As an agent who has entered thousands of homes, scent is an immediate and lasting impression. Therefore, evaluating how your home odors affect others is paramount when listing your property on the market.

It is important to have a third party to give you an honest smell-test! In our own homes, we are not the best judge as we become olfactory-numb in our personal environments. Ask for an honest opinion of the freshness or not so fresh smells in your home.

Next, receive the candid feedback and be prepared to tackle any smelly … (11 comments)

home selling: Lipstick on a Pig ~ Remodeling Woes - 11/04/19 07:20 PM
Lipstick on a Pig ~ Remodeling Woes
In this remodeling and HGTV awakening era, as real estate agents, we've all seen the great updates as well as the examples of what NOT to do! Recently, I was showing my son who is hoping to be a first time home buyer some remodeled homes in the Houston area. Due to the flooding Houston has experienced, currently there are hundreds of remodeled and updated homes on the market.

In viewing homes all over the Houston area, it became obvious very quickly the differences in quality, versus lipstick on a pig jobs. While most of these homes had crisp, new colors on … (24 comments)

home selling: Do Homes Have Their Own Energy Force? - 09/07/16 02:15 AM
Do Homes Have Their Own Energy Force?

I have been doing a lot of research lately regarding the study of energy in humans. We are all energetic beings that radiate out vibrations and frequencies. Our only two organs that are electrically charged are our hearts and our brains. It's rather interesting to study.

When we encounter one another, we can feel what many call a "vibe". There is truth to this in that, we each do have our own energy force. Whether it is a positive or negative "vibe", is determined by our thoughts, attitudes and beliefs.

As a real estate professional, I go … (27 comments)

home selling: From Ramschackle Roost to Yowzer Wowzer! - 05/21/15 08:26 AM
From Ramschackle Roost to Yowzer Wowzer!

I have had a few homes that I have been asked to come out and evaluate prior to listing the home.  One in particular came to mind.  I arrived at the home and everything looked OK on the outside.  The minute that I stepped into the home however, I knew that this was going to be one of "those" conversations.

The problem with the home was basically the amount of "stuff" everywhere and I mean everywhere!  Entire walls covered with pictures, decoratives, loud wallpaper and unusual paint colors!  Excessive amounts of furniture in every room!  Knick Knacks on … (17 comments)
