listing your home: Spring Cleaning; Preparing to Sell - 03/20/22 12:46 PM
Can you believe that Spring is officially here? I always love this time of year as it reminds me of new beginnings, a fresh start, and a time to remove those things in our lives and in our homes that no longer serve us.
Spring is also the beginning of many homes going on the market to sell. With that in mind, homeowners need to take a moment to assess several things as they prepare to place their homes on the market. This quick post provides some easy tips to do prior to going live with a listing.

listing your home: Selling Your Home is Like the Dating Game - 08/30/21 07:35 AM
This weekend when I was on a listing appointment and we were discussing how I was going to market his home. We discussed the main points regarding how to show the home in the best possible manner. As we were talking, it occurred to me that selling a home is a lot like the dating game.
Let me explain:
1. Preparation: Just like dating, it is important if you want to be seen in the best possible light to considerer what you want to wear and to clean up a bit. When you are ready to sell your home, you also need it … (43 comments)

Storage~Storage~Storage! Awesome When Done Correctly!
I have found more and more home buyers are looking for homes with adequate storage space. Being able to put away the holiday decor in an easy to access space is always ideal. Many homes however, just don't have enough storage.

When there is not enough storage the home owner has some options:

Throw or give away what you no longer need or use. ORGANIZE the things that you want to keep. Purchase sturdy storage bins and label them with the contents. Look for creative spaces that could double as storage options. High cabinets that are not being used. … (10 comments)

listing your home: IT'S OFFICIAL ~ WE NOW HAVE A SELLER'S MARKET! - 06/20/12 03:53 AM
IT'S OFFICIAL ~  WE NOW HAVE A  SELLER'S MARKET!

Any agent, buyer or seller in The Woodlands and Houston market can resoundingly say that the Buyer's market is dead in the water!  In May we saw our numbers soaring as the switch was flipped and moving us into a Seller's market.   As a result, the inventory is low and the competition is high for the great homes!
During the past few years we were all too familiar with what a Buyer's market meant.  Buyer's were in the drivers seat, they had more houses to choose from and they were able to put … (13 comments)

listing your home: CHECK THAT SQUARE FOOTAGE BEFORE YOU LIST! - 08/02/11 02:15 AM
CHECK THAT SQUARE FOOTAGE BEFORE YOU LIST!

Often an area that is taken for granted by Seller's is the square footage that is reported in from the Appraisal District or tax office.  What I explain to Seller's is that a builder will often submit plans early on and then when changes are made during construction that might construe the measurements, they are not reported.  Many times, this discrepancy is not discovered until the home is under contract and the Buyer's appraiser comes in with a different number.
Of course if the square footage is higher than what the Seller thought, … (10 comments)

listing your home: IT'S ALL A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE - 06/13/11 03:02 AM
IT'S ALL A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE

The sign above is real.  I snapped this picture this weekend while visiting my hometown where I grew up.  Seeing this sign just hit me funny.  It really is all about perspective.
Isn't it interesting that the owner's must really think their house is big as that is what they featured on their homemade sign.  Now as a real estate professional, seeing the pricetag would cause me to wonder how BIG this place really is.
If I lived in this community, I would want to go and find the house and see what their … (8 comments)

WILL MY HOME BE SAFE WHEN IT IS LISTED FOR SALE?

This is an excellent and very common question posed by potential Sellers when considering to list their home.  I am often surprised by the number of people who don't even consider the fact that there are safety precautions when listing their home.
With so much to worry about in life, having the peace of mind when listing your home is paramount.  There are many things to consider before you list your home for sale.
Choose a licensed Real Estate professional carefully.  Ask for references, research their information and … (9 comments)

listing your home: YES! NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO PUT YOUR HOME ON THE MARKET! - 12/16/10 02:27 AM
YES! NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO PUT YOUR HOME ON THE MARKET!

I have had many phone calls from potential Sellers this week all asking me if now is a good time to put their homes on the market.  My response, "YES!"  If you need to sell your home, NOW is a great time.  Here are my reasons:
Many companies began strategically moving personnel right now.  Many folks are getting their notices that they will be relocated. The holidays find many people using this time to shop for their homes.  They have the time off and use it to … (6 comments)
