liv2day: What Painted Hermit Crabs Can Teach Us About Life - 06/27/26 10:39 AM
We were visiting a local beach gift shop here in Galveston. You've likely seen the bin full of cute, little hermit crabs with their shells covered in flowers, sports logos, neon colors, or funny sayings. They're undeniably cute.   But the hermit crab didn't choose that shell. It simply moved into the best home it could find. One that fit nicely and provided security.   How often do we judge people by the outer shell they're wearing? Someone's job title. Their house or car. Their clothes or even their social media highlight reel.   We assume the shell tells the whole … (13 comments)

liv2day: Saturday Soundness ~ The Pineal Gland - 05/02/26 08:31 AM
Good morning and good health to you! I've written on this topic back in 2021, but thought it was time to revisit the Pineal Gland! If you pop over to that post, you can find the link to the entire chapter to read if you choose. This topic has raised eyebrows for some, and for others, there is a keen interest to know more.
This tiny gland sits in the middle of your brain and is about the size of a grain of rice. As tiny as it may be, this little structure is important and powerful. This gland produces two very … (5 comments)

liv2day: 🦋 The Butterfly Effect ~ You Matter 🦋 - 04/29/26 12:04 PM
I was gifted the sweetest little book today by a dear friend called "The Butterfly Effect". Written by Andy Andrews, this is one of those small books that makes an excellent gift. In this case, I was on the receiving end and couldn't wait to read the wisdom contained within its pages.
The premise is based on  Edward Lorenzo, who presented a hypothesis to the New York Academy of Sciences in 1963 that:
"A butterfly could flap its wings and set molecules of air in motion, which would move other molecules of air, in turn moving more molecules of air, eventually capable of … (7 comments)

liv2day: A Tale of Two Cities That I Love - 04/17/26 05:33 PM
Carol Williams has a fun challenge for us about why we love where we live. It could be a current location, a past location, or even one that hasn't yet happened. How much fun is this?
Because we are in transition, I wanted to share why I have two cities that I love. Both are wonderful, and each location has such a special meaning to me. These two locations hold very different memories and experiences.
GRANBURY, TX
Anyone who has followed me knows my love for my hometown, Granbury. This cute, historic town was where I grew up and returned to just 10 years … (9 comments)

liv2day: An 'Aha' Moment ~ Near Death Experience - 12/31/25 03:42 PM
As I continue to review the milestones in my life, this third installment for the December Challenge hosted by Lew Corcoran and Patricia Feager, I could not overlook this incredible and life-changing experience that happened in my 39th year.
I was living a very active lifestyle as a young mother of two children. At the time, I was a high school Biology teacher, cheerleading sponsor, and former cheerleading gym owner. We had moved out to the country, where we renovated a 100-year-old farmhouse on a 21-acre farm. (Yes, we were well ahead of Chip & Joanna!) 😁
After experiencing some "female" issues, it … (3 comments)

liv2day: Saturday Soundness ~ Wellness via PEMF - 12/13/25 02:02 PM
I have been quietly researching the whole PEMF phenomenon. What does this stand for you, you ask? Well, let's get into the fascinating topic of Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields.
In a nutshell, these 4 components must be carefully arranged in a balanced manner. When introduced into the body, an optimum wellness-promoting effect can be experienced. We are constantly exposed to electromagnetic signals that are not beneficial for our overall wellness. These factors can include computer systems, cell phones, WIFI, Bluetooth, microwaves, power lines, and so much more. There is a term called 'electrosmog', which is the unhealthy exposure to the above-mentioned frequencies.

liv2day: Life is Like a Box of Boxes! - 10/28/25 12:54 PM
Life is like a box of boxes. Stick with me for a moment as this post is simply a, "food for thought" article. As I was driving through Houston, Texas, it struck me. Our entire lives revolve around boxes. Let me explain.
Most of us are born in a hospital made up of large boxes that form a big, complex. Each of the rooms in the complex is comprised of smaller, box-like units. All together, they create a very large box.

Our homes are created in the … (6 comments)

liv2day: Unexpected Blessings - 10/14/25 08:35 PM
We've been going down to the beach every weekend, and along the way, I have encountered several really amazing and unexpected gifts. Each gift has been random and impactful. A true reminder of how an unexpected gift can make a difference.
STORY #1 ~ The Gift of a Cross
I was walking behind an elderly man going into the auto tax office. I noticed his slow movements as he struggled to carry his oxygen machine. I purposefully followed behind him to help open the door to the office. I had my little daschund with me as I was leaving to head out of … (9 comments)

liv2day: Assessing the Income Producing Property - 07/19/25 09:54 AM
While the real estate market has slowed a bit on all fronts, there are still people who need and want an income-producing property. Some need the tax write-off, others have a 1031 Exhange, and there are those who are seeking a viable retirement plan. Even in a slower market, this topic still comes up.
My husband and I are in the category of needing to flip a 1031, and we are making a five-year plan for retirement. As we traverse this process, we have found there are many considerations. Here are our top FIVE requirements:
🏠 LOCATION - Just like anything in real … (13 comments)

liv2day: Thoughts on Turning 65! - 11/16/24 12:36 PM
I normally would never post a birthday post on my own birthday. However, this one has caused much pause as I am reminded DAILY from Medicare and Social Security that yes, I am turning 65 years old. Wow, the notifications never stop!
Many of you have already reached this milestone and I honor you! There are some pretty humorous things that happen as you age. I giggle when I think of some of the unexpected "pleasures" of aging.
💩 What's up with HAIR showing up in unexpected places??? This is so strange and unfortunately, very unwanted. I have a pact with close friends … (30 comments)

liv2day: Our AR Family Has Lost Another Wonderful Man - 10/06/24 07:58 AM
I just read this post from John McCormack's wife, Debbie. I am saddened to read this and my heart and prayers go out to her and the family. Our ActiveRain family will feel his loss.
I always appreciated his kind comments, his wisdom, and his support. May each of you feel loved today as we all know how very precious life is and how quickly things can change. Hugs to you all. LIV2DAY!

liv2day: My Legacy Letter - LIV2DAY - 07/29/24 01:15 PM
Many of you have read my health journey. At the ripe age of now 64, my health journey began back when I was 39 years old. My first "near-death" experience occurred when I was a young mother and at a time when I was completely unprepared for a possible physical "death". However, when we experience a "wake-up" call, most respond by deep self and spiritual reflection.
With three very frightening life-changing health crisis situations from age 39 to 50, I recognized how very fragile life can be. Thankfully, I survived each circumstance but not without being completely transformed from the inside out. … (21 comments)

liv2day: An Endorphin Boost for a Smile! - 11/29/23 01:32 PM
When life becomes a bit stressful, having your endorphins kick in will provide you with a needed boost. And, this boost doesn't involve unnecessary calories or require you to exercise. Who doesn't LOVE that?
This adorable little boy in this video steals the show as he dances his heart out! What a lesson for each of us! Dance like no one is watching.
The true lesson is living in the moment! Feeling free to be you. Enjoying whatever you are doing. And, daring to be bold!
All of these are life lessons that will not only boost our endorphins but will also carry over … (22 comments)

liv2day: Saturday Soundness ~ Lemon Water Benefits - 10/28/23 08:34 AM
Due to an intense schedule last week, I had to skip my Saturday Soundess post. Yet, here we are this week! I hope this finds you all well and fulfilled. If not, I pray you are finding what you need in order to get there.
This week, I wanted to share a very simple yet, extremely effective health regimen that I do on a daily basis. Lemon water! That's right and it is that simple.
Let's take a look at why I drink this daily:
🍋 Lemons help to reduce inflammation in the body.
🍋 Helps to balance and maintain metabolism.
🍋 Aids in digestion.
🍋 Curbs … (13 comments)

liv2day: The Silent Treatment ~ A Narcissistic Tactic - 10/08/23 08:03 PM
I would venture to say that almost every one of us has experienced the "silent treatment" from someone. Perhaps you were intentionally ignored or you were blatantly ignored. Either way, when you are on the receiving end of this behavior, it is always a bit confusing.
None of us can get into another person's head and we certainly can't know what someone else is going through. However, when a person uses the "silent treatment" to hurt and control others, there is something much more going on. Most likely, those who use the "silent treatment" frequently, are exhibiting narcissistic traits.
I recently ran into … (14 comments)

liv2day: Saturday Soundness ~ Your Amazing Immune System - 09/16/23 11:47 AM
Did you know that you have a phenomenal built-in system that when it is in tip-top shape, will prevent and protect you from disease, maladies, malaise, auto-immune issues, arthritis, cancer, allergies, and everything in between? This system, your immune system, was designed to support your health with an entire network of warriors designed to fight. However, if you have not taken care of your body, this wonderful system struggles to be able to keep up.
The big question then is, what can you do to support and boost your natural immune system? Some of the things I will share may step on … (31 comments)

liv2day: Sunday Reflections ~ What Is Truly Important? - 08/27/23 07:43 AM
We have had a very challenging week in our little, Texas town this week. Today, I wanted to reflect on what is truly important. There are things that can take away our joy if we allow them to overshadow the most important things in our lives.
LIFE ~ Each day that we wake up, we have another opportunity to make a difference. We can choose to waste the day mired in negativity or, we can choose to have a joy-filled attitude.
BREATH ~ With each breath we take, we are provided with rich, life-giving oxygen that fills our bloodstream. Take a moment to … (20 comments)

liv2day: Life Lessons ~ My Decade-by-Decade Roadmap - 08/17/23 10:41 AM
Life truly is a roadmap filled with twists, turns, hazard zones, and road bumps. How we each choose to navigate this journey we call life, really does determine where we end up. I love this challenge by Anna "Banana" Kruchten and Carol Williams because it is always good to stop along the way to reflect and re-visit what has shaped us in life.
Personally, as anyone who has lived 60+ years knows, there have been many, many lessons throughout each decade of my life. I thought it would be fun to identify these lessons by the decade. Here goes:
Years 1-10
Circa 1965 - … (38 comments)

liv2day: How Will You LIVE This Day? - 08/07/23 08:07 AM
UPDATE: As I wrote this post yesterday, within moments of posting, I found out my sister passed away. Life is fleeting and each day truly is a gift.
Many people have asked me to share why I came up with the saying I use all of the time, "LIV2DAY"! Some of you will remember but many have yet to understand the significance of this little saying.
After losing my lung (never smoked a day in my life) from a large tumor and being told I most likely would not make it through the surgery, I was instructed to go home and to be … (28 comments)

liv2day: Spring Break Reminder to Take a BREAK - 03/15/22 09:41 AM
Spring Break is upon us. The keyword here is, "BREAK". Have you ever noticed that when you have run your engine dry, you eventually crash and burn with an illness, an emotional outburst, or you simply shut down?
To avoid these "crashes", it is vital that you recognize the much-needed times of rest and relaxation. And, you need these breaks on a daily basis too! Most of us simply push through our daily routine with very little thought about placing intentional break times into them.
Here is a great reminder to help you remember to stop and smell the roses:
B - Be still! … (17 comments)
