school board: Granbury ISD Censures School Board Member

Last night in our tiny town of Granbury, Texas after an almost 5-hour Special-called meeting, the Trustees voted 5-2 in favor of censuring Karen Lowery for her unethical behavior and for going against school board policy and procedures. The board room was filled to capacity with many filling the entire foyer as well. It is a sad day for any school district to have to take such measures against a fellow elected official. Recently, I stepped forward in faith and filed for an open local school board seat. Many have asked me why I felt compelled to do this. Trust me, I have thought long and hard and know that I have made a well-thought-out decision.
My reasons are numerous for running for this position.

Recently Gerald Irons, Sr. announced his resignation from the Conroe Independent School Board after a wonderful 22 year service. Mr. Irons worked tirelessly and has given of his time and talents to the school district unselfishly. He will be dearly missed. Joe Michels, the current Mayor of Oak Ridge has been appointed to the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees. This fills Position 7 for the district.
