thanksgiving: Thanksgiving 2020 ~ Still Thankful! - 11/26/20 10:03 AM
Thanksgiving 2020 ~ Still Thankful!   Although 2020 has been deemed by many as a do-over, there have been many excellent lessons:   1. Learning to be still and to focus on what is truly important. 2. Adapting to doing things in a new way. 3. More time with family. 4. Additional time to work on projects that were put off. 5. A reminder that slowing down is not a bad thing. 6. Thankful for the things we once took for granted. 7. A deeper connection to God with time to reflect on Him. 8. Renewed energy … (15 comments)

thanksgiving: Remembering the "Thanks" in Thanksgiving - 11/23/14 01:01 PM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I sincerely hope that each of you is surrounded by friends and family and enjoying this special day.  Being able to have some down time and to be off from our regular schedules is always a treat.

Thanksgiving really is a great time to truly reflect on what you are Thankful for!  Not only is it a great time for remembering our own blessings but a wonderful time to Thank others that are in our lives.  Thank a teacher, a co-worker, a pastor, a store clerk or a myriad of other people in our lives.

GE RUN THRU THE WOODS 2012 ~ A GREAT TRADITION!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Today was the 23rd annual GE Run Thru the Woods here in The Woodlands, Texas.  About 6,000 participants lined up bright and early to get their run on this morning.  We had absolutely great weather too!
This is always a great family event.  Entire families will show up and participate together.  It always helps me to justify eating such a big Thanksgiving meal.
Thanks to my friend Sheri in the orange who encouraged me along.  I had a root canal yesterday and could have easily blown this … (8 comments)

thanksgiving: LEND A LADLE ON THANKSGIVING! VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ~ THE WOODLANDS - 11/20/12 10:06 PM
LEND A LADLE ON THANKSGIVING!  VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WOODLANDS!

I know that I have much to be Thankful for.  There are so many others however, in our area that are not as fortunate.  Volunteer opportunities are there if you would like to lend a hand to help serve a Thanksgiving Meal this week.
Right here in The Woodlands, the Montgomery County Food Bank can always use a helping hand with food donations, on site volunteering and special events.  There is always a need so go online and find out what this organization is all about.  Get your family involved … (3 comments)

thanksgiving: SUNDAY BLESSINGS ~ THANKSGIVING 2011 - 11/27/11 12:16 PM
SUNDAY BLESSINGS ~ THANKSGIVING 2011

Can't believe that the Thanksgiving weekend is almost over.  What a wonderful time we had with family and friends visiting.  The house was at full swing with the hustle and bustle of people coming and going, food being prepared and laughter floating throughout.
We enjoyed a very mixed Thanksgiving crowd.  Along with our family, we invited a couple that has only been in this country for five weeks from Norway.  They had never experienced an American Thanksgiving so it was really fun introducing them to this tradition.
Everything went off without a hitch, the food … (2 comments)

thanksgiving: HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THANSGIVING? - 11/24/10 02:41 AM
HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THANKSGIVING?

This is truly such a wonderful American holiday and tradition.  Now that the reins have been handed down to my generation to cook and host the event, I have a myriad of activities that I do to prepare.
I love everything about Thanksgiving, especially having the honor of preparing a special meal for friends and family.  I enjoy the planning, shopping for the perfect ingredients, setting a beautiful table, making my To Do list and then seeing it all come together.
Yes it is a lot of work yet I look at each task … (9 comments)
