Looking for Five Star Sellers March Madness is just around the corner. Since my favorite college sport is basketball I am going to use the evaluation of a basketball player to help home sellers understand how they can make it much easier to sell their home. Can you really buy or sell a home? Neither this world nor any of its place is an "environment." And a house for sale is not a "home." Wendell Berry. p.19 of "The Mad farmer Poems" I have been thinking about how we use the words home and house.

My wife Kathy and I just returned from a niece's wedding in Northwestern Iowa. We woke up the morning of the wedding and it was negative 31 degrees. The week before they had received two feet of snow. I am so thankful that the National Tire and Battery workers on Regency Road had discovered my battery was barely functioning. With new tires and a new battery my car served us well. I am in awe of people who can survive and even seem to thrive in that kind of weather. I am sitting at Coffee Times Coffee House on Regency Road in Lexington waiting for my tires to be mounted at National Tire and Battery just across the street. Free wireless here and a great cup of Chai tea served in a real cup. The sun is filtering through the window screen behind me. To my right is a young woman reading the Lexington Herald Leader and a group of business people talking mostly about football while they sip on their steaming coffee.

I just finished doing a work up presentation for a home in a popular area of Lexington.Once again the homes that sold in less than 100 days sold for more than the ones that sold in more 100 days or more. What really surprised me is the difference in time to sell. The homes that sold in more than a 100 days sold in a average of 160 days. Those that sold under a hundred days sold in only 34 days. I don't get to spend as much time with my grandchildren as I wish I could. There are mornings in which I have to drag myself away from them. Kathy gets to take care of them three or four days a week and treats me to her daily photo shots when I get home. Yes, these are the cutest grandchildren on earth. And yes we do spoil them. Caroline removes the ornaments and beads but Sam enjoys replacing them. Mom and Dad don't let Sam touch the ornaments on the tree at home. But Grammy lets Sam help put them back on at … (2 comments)
Eight years ago my wife adopted a three year old blonde cocker spaniel. Kathy was won over by Abby’s big brown eyes and Jennifer Aniston haircut. Abby was, essentially, already full grown and set in her ways, but I have a hunch that Kathy wouldn’t have been much of a taskmaster.
