This weekend, June 15-17, 2012, Anchorage celebrates Juneteenth.  If you are unaware of it, Juneteenth is the annual celebration of the emancipation of the last slaves in Galveston, TX on June 19, 1865.  Although it has been celebrated in Texas since 1980, it has spread to other areas of the country as well, including Anchorage.
