home staging in edmonton: Sunday Funnee! - 03/13/11 05:55 AM
Sunday Funnee!
For those of you who are not Canadians, a little explanation is in order. A newfie is a person from the province of New Foundland. They are the most down to earth, generous folks you will ever come across. (The airplane groundings after 9/11 have shown that). The thing about people from Newfoundland is; they seem to have their own language. Even though it's English, often people from other provinces don't understand them and 'fuggetaboudit' when they talk quickly. Because of that, people tend to poke fun at these wonderful people.
That being said, they have a natural inclination to working … (19 comments)

Was there a meth lab in that house?
How would you know? There must be a few things that can clue you in. Grow ops often leave a lot of damage that a home inspector will be able to spot. But what about a Meth Lab? Here are a few pointers to help you figure it out!

When does your junk drawer become the junk heap? Takin' out the junk...

So, since I finished tiling in the kitchen I want to put up all my shelves etc that were up pre-tiling. One of the things I was missing the most was my knife rack. So I measured and leveled, drilled holes into my new tiling job and now just need to...hmmm, where are the wall anchors? Where are the wall anchors? I looked in the basement in our fix-it drawers, nope. On the tool shelves, nope. Maybe the junk drawer...

I look awesome in facial hair! And I'm a girl!
The other day I saw Lindsay Pendelton's blog about beards. I commented that my husband, who recently joined a barbershop quartet, has started waxing his moustache. It takes a lot of character to be able to walk around looking different when you do it to yourself. Ask anyone that has a blue/purple/green streak in their hair. Admittedly it's very common now, but back in the day, not so much.
That reminds me of a joke:
This old man was sitting on a park bench when along came a punk rocker … (13 comments)

Proof reading? Is it a good idea? I think so!
Maybe I'm a bit over the top, but I always proof read my blogs before I post them. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. I like the fact AR had a built in spell check (the little ABC to the top right).
Here are some examples of notes (that could have use a bit of proof reading) teachers have received from parents for their children's absence from school:

 1. My son is under a doctor's care and should not take PE today. Please execute him.  2. Please exkuce lisa for being absent she was sick and i … (25 comments)

Troubles with tiling; DIY Blues!
If you saw my blog yesterday with my 3 pepper chili, I had a short note at the end to look at the tile backsplash I just finished on the weekend. We're very happy with it!
Of course one of the things you have to do on a big job like this (29 linear feet when all is said and done) is the cutting around outlets and light switches.
The trouble is not cutting the tile (I have a wet saw, and I know how to use it), but the fact that; in order to keep the mess … (7 comments)

Soup's, I mean Chili's on! Three pepper chili...
A while back I read a post and someone, I think it was Roger M, had put in a picture of chili. Almost everyone commented on it only to find out he hadn't made it!
Well, I'm making chili for dinner and thought I'd share the recipe with you, since it's still winter here (- 14 c) and we could use something hearty!

I start with ground meat, I use turkey, but you use what you want, brown that. Add one of each-chopped; red onion, red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Spice all … (5 comments)

Bedding in a mess? How about the pillowcase? Controlling clutter!

Often when we're doing laundry things go missing. For me it was often the pillw cases that matched certain sheets. I was always saying, where's the darn pillow cases?!? While tearing apart the linen closet.

Now, when I fold bedding laundry, I take the fitted and flat sheets and 1 pillowcase, fold them up, and put them inside the second pillowcase. That way everything is together in one neat little package! We generally have 4 pillowcases per set because I use satin pillowcases (to prevent bed head) … (11 comments)

THE LITTLE BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET READING A BOOK.  BUT ABOUT EVERY 15 SECONDS OR SO, HE PUTS THE BOOK DOWN, GRIPS ONTO THE TOILET SEAT WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND HITS HIMSELF ON TOP OF HIS HEAD WITH HIS RIGHT HAND.
HIS MOTHER SAYS: "BILLY, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? YOU'VE BEEN IN HERE FOR A WHILE."
BILLY SAYS:  "I'M FINE, MOMMY. I JUST HAVEN'T … (23 comments)

Saturday Funee!

A  cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said, 'You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking.' The  cat thought for a minute and then said, 'All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on.' God said, 'Say no more.' Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow.
A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven together. God met … (16 comments)

Some useless info that kinda applies to me on AR...
When I log onto i-google, one of my apps is; Useless knowledge. This came up today and I thought of my time here on AR!
The men who served as guards along the Great Wall of China in the Middle Ages often were born on the wall, grew up there, married there, died there, and were buried within it. Many of these guards never left the wall in their entire lives.
I'm new; so kinda 'born and definitely growing up' here. I'm already married, but I'm sure I'll die here, and I … (10 comments)

What did you do in your other life that helps you in your present life? Home Staging in Edmonton.
No, I'm not talking about reincarnation. Everyone here on AR has had previous jobs that has influenced the way they deal with people and situations today. I was thinking about that and started to go through all the things I used to do and in some cases still do.
I use my sense of humour a lot in my work. I used to do stand up comedy, but, I found unless you get a movie contract, there's no money in it. Most comedians … (4 comments)

Painting With Selling in Mind; Home Staging in Edmonton

When selling your home, one of the first things a Home Stager or Realtor will tell you; in order for your home to appeal to the most buyers, you will need to make it more neutral. (Neutraller?) But you have an aversion to beige you say, since you will be living there until it gets sold? Fear no more! Beige isn't the only neutral! The new trend in neutrals is gray, and there are warm and cool tones to fit any appetite!
