Going Back in Time to Be a Part of Hockey History! The Story of the China Clipper - Larry Kwong.Today I went back in history to 1948 as an extra in the documentary of Larry 'King' Kwong, aka the China Clipper.

Larry Kwong was the first Asian to to play in professional hockey for the New York Rangers.
His first game with the Rangers was against the Montreal Canadiens and he was allowed only 1 minute of ice time. Read more about this amazing Hockey Legend who, like Jackie Robinson, broke the … (6 comments)

home staging in edmonton: How to Make a Home a House! - 02/11/12 04:30 AM
How to Make a Home a House! Sellers need to be aware that when they are selling their home;  once they've decided to sell, it is no longer theirs. So it needs to look that way as well. Having a Professional Home Stager or Property Stylist come in and consult with them on how to do that is one of the best investments a home owner can make on their property. Every item that a person puts lovingly into their home, needs to be looked at critically and decided whether it can stay. Any personal item, photo, memento, keepsake, treasure, trophy … (14 comments)

A Cat's Life!
Our cats have it made! They have lovely places to sleep, a clear deck in the winter so their toes don't get cold. Warm laps, (or shoulders) and have trained my husband and me to turn on the tap in the bath room when they're thirsty.

Here is Minnie; our lady cat, doing double duty, a wash and a drink. She must be a girl; she's multi-tasking!

home staging in edmonton: Another Day, Another Opportunity! - 01/21/12 05:45 AM
Another Day, Another Opportunity! Opportunities are everywhere, you just have to recognize them! I just joined the Edmonton Revenue Properties Investors Association, and offered to do a Power Point Presentation about how Property Styling can benefit a listing or rental property. My husband and I have wanted to get into the revenue property business for a while now and I know that by joining this group and meeting the members I can benefit from their knowledge! It's like all the knowledge I've learned from Active Rain in this year. I also want to bring something to the table, so will offer … (12 comments)

home staging in edmonton: RIP, A Sad Day, Etta is Gone... - 01/20/12 07:56 AM
RIP, A Sad Day, Etta is Gone... Some of you know I sing in a band. I've been singing blues all my life. Koko Taylor, Elmore James, Ella Fitzgerald, and the incomparable Etta James have influenced me profoundly. We have lost an incredible vocalist and a woman who made it through many struggles in her life. Through it all; weight problems, failing health, drug addiction, and now cancer, her incredible voice is still the one thing that will never stop. She has been a large part of my life to the point we used this song as our wedding dance...
Thank you … (13 comments)

home staging in edmonton: Where Do the Mermaids Stand? - 01/20/12 03:52 AM
Where Do the Mermaids Stand? Mimi Foster wrote a thought provoking post today about Your Gravestone, and what your inscription would read. There are many beautiful and caring inscriptions that a loved one can express on a stone, but I commented that I wanted to be cremated so no Stone for me... I hadn't thought about a gravestone, but I have thought about my service. I would like some Dixieland jazz, not because I've been to New Orleans and experienced it first hand, but because you can't listen to Dixieland jazz and sit still! I don't want people to be sad … (8 comments)

home staging in edmonton: Active Rain Posts Won't Always Show Up On Face Book! - 01/19/12 07:07 AM
Active Rain Posts Won't Always Show Up On Face Book!I have gotten into the habit of 'liking' posts from Active Rain to Face Book.
It just seems natural that I would share the posts I like with my friends and colleagues, even if they haven't figured out how great AR is for their Real Estate related business, or are not in a RE biz, but would still benefit from the wisdom and humour of my AR friends.

The fact is; you can 'like' a post, but if it is a "Members Only' post, access will be denied to Face … (4 comments)

How We Made Our Main Floor Bath a Jewel! Edmonton's Flufftastic Fairy Tells All...We took possession of our home in March of 2000. It's a lovely home built in the '40s with cove  and plasterwork ceilings, cross cut oak hardwood floors and a lovely large lot!It was a mess when we bought it, even our agent had reservations about us buying it, (crayon on all the walls, a wall paper border in every room [not the same one and not the same heights] nasty stained carpet in the living room and hallway, all kinds of things) but I knew what I … (11 comments)

My Day Spent As Jordan Eberle's Meter Maid! I wrote a post in September about My Day As A Meter Maid! A Day in the Life of an Actor... I got to meet Jordan Eberle, who was very sweet and a lot of fun!  It was a blistering hot day and we were cooking as well as blinded by the sun which was always directly in my eyes. If I get cataracts I'll know which day brought them on! Trying for a close up in those conditions, I could feel my eyes rolling back from the pain. I was never sure … (9 comments)

The Flufftastic Fairy Says: Make the Most of Your Small Space - the Master Bed Room
We live in a small house, just over 1000 sq feet. It was built in the '40's and has a lot of character, that's why we love it!

Unfortunately there isn't always room for all my stuff...

Many people have the same problem and here are some ideas to make your small Master Bedroom more efficient! (Here are some tips for your Living Room, Kitchen & Dining Room)

Paint the walls and ceiling in the same shade, that way corners and boundaries disappear. Lighter shades … (14 comments)

home staging in edmonton: How Not To Market Your Listing! Day 3 - Thursday... - 01/12/12 03:33 AM
How Not To Market Your Listing! Day 3 - Thursday... I have been perusing MLS and contacting Realtors who might not understand the value of Property Styling based on the photos I find. I have had a fairly positive experience with 5 Realtors interested in my services, 2 who want a presentation for their office, one who wants a quote on a vacant show home and one I gave a proposal on a vacant condo downtown yesterday. Then I came home late last night to find another contacted me about a listing I had found with one photo that only showed … (8 comments)

How Valuable is the Real Estate Board to Property Stylists?I have been thinking about joining the local Real Estate Board. I don't know if it would be worth the money ($2000) for whatever benefits/status I might get.Do home inspectors or other professions besides Realtors benefit?

I know there was one Staging company listed in there and it is a very well known company here. But I also know this company spends a lot of money on advertising too.

Just wanted the opinion of everyone, I need to think about what my advertising budget should be this year … (13 comments)

Monday Motivational Moment!
I'm determined to have even more success in my business this year.
Last year I had fits and starts, in my marketing, but have been working very hard at it the first week of the new year.
I came across this quote from motivational speaker Anthony Robbins and thought it applied...

"What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are."       Tony Robbins

Holy-Get-A-Home-Stager-Batman!I've been perusing MLS again and emailing Real Estate Agents that might be in need of helping their clients understand the benefit in investing in Home Staging.I wrote a post the other day about a room that was in a vacant home but was still full of all stuff Spider-man.Today I found another super hero about to be passed on to some unsuspecting buyer!
