homestaging in edmonton: Making a Child's Room Flufftastic in Edmonton! - 02/24/12 06:19 AM
Making a Child's Room Flufftastic in Edmonton!I had the chance to stage a child's room this week and boy was it fun!A couple months ago I had come across some ladybug nesting file boxes and knew they'd be the perfect starting point for a kid's room.

I also had a couple meters of ladybug fabric that had caught my eye years ago. We won't talk about how much fabric I have, it makes my husband cranky... :D
So I found a couple small lamps and recovered the shades with fabric using my handy dandy hot glue gun and, with … (21 comments)

homestaging in edmonton: Silly Sunday! Huntin'n'Fishin' - 11/26/11 04:11 PM
Silly Sunday! Huntin'n'Fishin' A woman goes into a Bass Pro Shop to buy a rod and reel for her grandson's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter.
A sales associate is standing there wearing dark shades. She says, "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?"
He says, "Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes."
She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway.
He says, "That's … (19 comments)

A Horse Is Horse of Course, Of Course... Canadian Singing Horse
I grew up around horses. My sister was and still is horse crazy. I was bit on my chest when I was 5 (was bruised from navel to neck and still carry a scar) and had nightmares (no pun intended) for years. I guess I got over them eventually, because my sister made me get on horses over and over again throughout my life. She never understood how I could be afraid of a horse. We even went on a trail ride on our Honeymoon in Jasper... This wonderful story … (13 comments)

Silly Saturday! Age Old Problems...

Three elderly golfers are walking down the fairway.

"Sixty is the worst age to be," said the 60-year-old, "You always feel like you have to pee. And most of the time nothing happens."

"Ah, that's nothing," said the 70-year-old. "When you're 70, you don't have a bowel movement anymore. You take laxatives, eat bran, you sit on the toilet all day and nothing happens."

"Actually," said the 80-year-old, "Eighty is the worst age of all."

"Do you have trouble peeing too?" asked the 60-year-old.

"No, I pee … (18 comments)

homestaging in edmonton: What's For Dinner? Yummy Beet'nBean Soup! - 09/17/11 11:26 AM
What's For Dinner? Yummy Beet'nBean Soup!
I received a present from my mom's garden this morning; a grocery bag full of beets!
She makes beet pickles, but I don't, so what to do?
I love soup, so that's the best alternative I can think of!

I peeled and chopped up some beets, onions and celery and threw them in a big pot! Added water and chicken stock.

Plus some chopped mushrooms, carrots and potatoes.1 can of romano beans, 1 small can of tomato paste, some garlic and some chopped cauliflower.Cumin; and salt and pepper to taste.

Make Math Fun! Try Re-Tally-8!
I've been told that you either have the 'math chip' or you don't. (You're either good at math or not) But it seems to me that nowadays people can't do the simplest forms of math even when it's necessary for their jobs.
How many times have you seen the glassy eyed stare of someone trying to figure out how much change to give back from you're coffee?

I think part of the problem is; everyone has a calculator in their phone, so they don't bother trying to add or subtract.

Are You a Member? Chamber of Commerce: a Valuable Local  Networking Tool! As much as I love you all here on Active Rain, I need to see and speak to people occasionally! :D One of the best networking tools, recommended to me by my banking adviser was joining the local and surrounding CoC's.
They have monthly meetings, breakfast, luncheons and after works socials, and I will be attending as many as possible over the next few weeks. Tomorrow I have a breakfast in Sherwood Park, east of Edmonton, and a luncheon in St Albert, north of Edmonton. Then there is … (16 comments)

homestaging in edmonton: Happy? - 09/06/11 06:03 PM

Happy?

Happiness is not achieved by the conscious pursuit of happiness; it is generally the by-product of other activities.

Aldous Huxley

I saw this quote and thought about what it is that makes people happy.

You see people in a park or on the beach and they are involved in activities or games and they're having a blast. Did they consciously say they were determined to have a good time, or did it just happen that way?

How we choose to deal with a situation … (13 comments)
