time: A Timely Post
- 03/06/20 04:26 AM
So, are you prepared to lose an hour this weekend? Around 2 am Sunday morning, the clocks will all magically move ahead 1 hour and it will be gone until this fall. Are you looking forward to being at work for an extra hour in the morning before the sun rises? There is a campaign afoot in the country to stop the biannual clock changing routine. Folks want to stick with one time all year long. If you were tasked to pick, which would you vote for? Would you prefer more light in the evening or earlier sunrise in the morning? time: Lets ask for another 2 or 3 hours
- 02/13/20 04:46 AM
Just to be upfront, this has nothing to do with needing a bit more time to respond to an offer. That does happen as well, and the easiest way to get those hours would be to ask for a notice from the Buyer stating the offer time is extended, or resubmit the offer with additional time. This happens in part when the Seller is looking at multiple offers, or needing to consult with a contractor about expected repair requests. There I made this post about Real Estate. See what I did there? However, my real intent with this post was to see if we, (6 comments)
time: A long week, and a short day
- 12/21/17 05:41 AM
As you have undoubtably heard by now, today is the shortest day of the year. It still has 24 hours in it, but it has the least amount of daylight of any other day of the year. For such a short day, why then is this week so long? I think it seems long because we are all waiting for Christmas to be here. When something you want is off in the future, it just seems to take forever to get here. Conversely, as soon as that event gets here, it goes by in a flash. Is this some sort of Physics (3 comments)
time: Don't drag your feet...

Everyone knows that the home markets have been very busy. We have been saying for a while that if you have to sleep on it, you will never sleep in it. I have a quick cautionary tale that speaks to this. Before I left for the holiday, I had received an offer on my townhome I was selling. It was a full price offer, but the buyers wanted quite a bit of closing costs paid by the seller...me. So, I countered their offer with an expiration date 2 days out. Day one came and went. Wednesday at 3 was the deadline. I (6 comments)
time: Time is of the essence
- 10/31/17 06:06 AM
Here in Georgia, in our contracts for Real Estate, we have a clause that states time is of the essence. What exactly does this mean? We all know time is important, but why is it "of the essence"? Your Dictionary on line says about all this, "When used in a contract, places the other party on notice that failure to complete a required performance by a date certain set forth therein will constitute an incurable breach." It means that any times listed in the contract or proposal are important and you should pay attention to them. Time lines are important and Real Estate (6 comments)
time: A new year? Really?
- 12/30/15 10:17 PM
I like this time of year. Especially this year. We have had temps in the 70's most of December when it is normally in the low 50's. With all this warm weather came a bunch of rain as well, it just doesn't seem like December 31, 2015 to me. Maybe its because I started my new year last month. When you think about it, real estate runs about 30 - 45 days in the future. We may put a home under contract today, but the closing is still a ways off. So, in actuality, I am working on things today that will come (4 comments)
time: "There is a key for every lock"

I like this quote. I would love to tell you that it was from some obscure book I read or from some great person from the past, but no, it is from a line spoken by Sheldon's mother on a past show of Big Bang Theory. In essence, there is some one for everyone out there. There is also a buyer for every home. Sometimes it just takes a while and requires patience. I have 2 listings in mind. One is in a great neighborhood, on a cul-de-sac, with a great golf course view. For months we have had agents telling us that (5 comments)
time: I Can't get there!
- 05/12/14 11:11 PM
I love it and hate it all at the same time. I have 3 closings set to take place this Thursday. That's the good news. The bad news is that I cannot possible attend them all due to geographic issues. The one I can't attend is actually the one I would really like to go to, but I have asked another agent to go to that one for me. Closings are almost always fun. It is the culmination of everyone's hard work. It is the time both sides get together and enjoy the moment. Yes, we agents usually get paid at (1 comments)
time: Life moves on
- 04/30/14 01:25 AM
I am still amazed at how time itself seems to speed up as we get older. I remember waiting FOREVER to get my license to drive. College took forever to get through. Living in New York seems like two lifetimes ago. But the here and now? Blistering speed! My older daughter turned 25 yesterday, is engaged, is under contract on her first home, and has a great job. Wasn't I just helping her blow her nose? My younger daughter is 23. She graduates from Georgia Tech this Saturday with an aerospace engineering degree. She has already been accepted for graduate school (8 comments)
time: Time, interesting how it flows.

I have been trying to control time this year. My calendar has all sorts of time blocking stuff in it. There are colors for this and that. It really is impressive to see. When my broker asks about my time management, I whip out the calendar and dazzle her with the colors. Now the truth. Trying to control time is about as easy as herding cats. But I like it that way! Just this week, I have had several scheduled events fall through. I hate it when that happens. But in each case this week, something else popped up even better (6 comments)
time: Ugh...it's that time again!
- 03/14/11 01:53 AM
Time. An interesting concept that is completely man made. Boy does it bite when we mess with it! I woke up this morning to pitch blackness again. I had just gotten used to leaving the house in daylight when BAM, the Daylight Savings Time thing reared its ugly head. Do we really need this invention? Sure, it will be nice and sunny here until 8 tonight. Maybe I can show an extra home today because of it. More than likely I will sit out on my deck and enjoy the late afternoon sun instead. But is the pain worth it? I (3 comments)
time: Happy March 1st!

Can you believe how fast this year seems to be moving? Time does seem to fly. Time is certainly an interesting thing. If you set a task for sometime in the future, time slows to a crawl. But as soon as you come upon the date set for this task, time really takes off. Did you know that time is very important in Real Estate? When you contract to buy or sell a home, a hidden timer starts ticking. There are built in timers for your due diligence time period. There are timers for financial and appraisal contingencies. So what, you (1 comments)
