photograph: Photo of the Day: Bitterroot Mountains - 08/17/17 06:09 AM
Just south of Missoula, Montana lies the Bitterroot River valley and the Bitterroot Mountains. This photograph was taken on a clear, spring afternoon as the wind was blowing the snow off the tops of the peaks.
This was somewhere near Hamilton, Montana (I don't recall the name of this particular peak).

photograph: Photo of the Day: The River Cam, Cambridge, England - 08/11/17 01:47 AM
This was a typical, dreary Autumn day in Cambridge, England.
The old, brick, terraced houses along the bank of the River Cam and the wooden beam bridge in the background caught my eye and I had to get a shot.
Cambridge is, without a doubt, one of the most picturesque cities in the world.

photograph: Photo of the Day: Backcountry Sunrise - 08/11/17 01:27 AM
This shot I captured as the light broke the horizon while I was out elk hunting along the Montana/Idaho border above Missoula Lake in Mineral County.
I was able to find an old fallen tree to get depth of field. I wish I had put something down to keep the grass out of the foreground, but still very happy with the shot.

photograph: Photo of the Day: Where Eagles Fly - 08/08/17 07:34 AM
If you have ever spent any time in Western Montana, you will no doubt have seen Bald Eagles fishing along the Bitterroot or Clark Fork Rivers.
Having lived in and around Missoula for a lot (not nearly enough though) of years, I had many opportunities to photograph Bald Eagles (another one of my favorite subjects). This is one of my favorites.
This eagle was soaring above Trout Creek and began to dive when I captured this shot.

photograph: Photo of the Day: Old Red Barns - 08/08/17 07:19 AM
These are a couple of old red barns I found off a dirt road on the west side of MacDonald Pass just outside of Helena, Montana.
If you have been following my Photo of the Day posts, you will know I love photographing western life in the states. Cowboys, barns, wide open land, I love everything western. I hope you enjoy.

This chap is taking a less than ideal approach to dismounting his ride. I guess it beats landing on your head and it is a good way to get that appendectomy you always wanted.
This is another shot from the Superior Lion's Club Rodeo at the Mineral County Fair in Superior, Montana.

photograph: Photo of the Day - Beach and Cloudy Sky on the Oregon Coast - 07/30/17 01:26 AM
This photograph was taken along the Oregon Coast near Ocean City. I took it during a small break in a spring storm and the clouds broke enough to let the sun shine through. The slight mist in the air from the sea spray combined with the rain which had just fallen gives the image a bit of a heavy feeling which I think adds to the overall picture.

photograph: Photo of the Day - Paradise Montana Barn - 07/30/17 01:01 AM
I used to drive past this barn a couple times a week when I lived in Montana. It is situated just outside of Paradise Montana along Hwy 200 and the Clark Fork River.
You can't be an avid photographer in the western states, especially Montana, without finding old barns beautiful. This was always one of my favorites and I love how the distressed white barn looks with the blue sky.

photograph: Your Photo Didn't Show The Toilet In The Neighbors Yard - 02/12/14 02:07 AM
Should our listing photos show the BEST or the WORST characteristics of the property?
I am from the school of thought that our listing photos should be taken in such a way to draw every possible buyer out to look at the property.
This means finding the best angles to take photos from, moving garbage cans, framing the photos so you can't see the toilet sitting in the neighbors front yard... stuff like that.
There is talk in the Spokane Association of Realtors about agents being absolutely bent out of shape when they take a client to a listing and they … (8 comments)
