photography: Photo of the Day: Bitterroot Mountains - 08/17/17 06:09 AM
Just south of Missoula, Montana lies the Bitterroot River valley and the Bitterroot Mountains. This photograph was taken on a clear, spring afternoon as the wind was blowing the snow off the tops of the peaks.
This was somewhere near Hamilton, Montana (I don't recall the name of this particular peak).

photography: Photo of the Day: The River Cam, Cambridge, England - 08/11/17 01:47 AM
This was a typical, dreary Autumn day in Cambridge, England.
The old, brick, terraced houses along the bank of the River Cam and the wooden beam bridge in the background caught my eye and I had to get a shot.
Cambridge is, without a doubt, one of the most picturesque cities in the world.

photography: Photo of the Day: Backcountry Sunrise - 08/11/17 01:27 AM
This shot I captured as the light broke the horizon while I was out elk hunting along the Montana/Idaho border above Missoula Lake in Mineral County.
I was able to find an old fallen tree to get depth of field. I wish I had put something down to keep the grass out of the foreground, but still very happy with the shot.

photography: Photo of the Day: Old Red Barns - 08/08/17 07:19 AM
These are a couple of old red barns I found off a dirt road on the west side of MacDonald Pass just outside of Helena, Montana.
If you have been following my Photo of the Day posts, you will know I love photographing western life in the states. Cowboys, barns, wide open land, I love everything western. I hope you enjoy.

photography: Photo of the Day: Cowboy Down - 08/07/17 12:32 AM
This chap is taking a less than ideal approach to dismounting his ride. I guess it beats landing on your head and it is a good way to get that appendectomy you always wanted.
This is another shot from the Superior Lion's Club Rodeo at the Mineral County Fair in Superior, Montana.

photography: Daily Listing Photo Tip: Use the Door to Block Unsightly Items - 07/31/17 07:00 AM
Today's listing photo tip is an easy way to avoid unsightly household things. You could use this tip to hide a pile of dirty laundry or like this example, hide a broom and mop.
We have all had clients that just don't think about things like this when you come to take photos. It is easy to move things out of the way and then put them back after you are done, but this way you can save a little time and accomplish the same thing.
It is the little things that can make a big difference in professionalism.

photography: Daily Listing Photo Tip: Move the Garbage Can - 07/31/17 06:49 AM
Let's face it, taking listing photos isn't rocket science.
But attention to detail, the small things, is what sets true professionals apart from the rest.
Take the time to move the garbage cans out of view when taking your photos. I agree that a garbage can in your photo will not prevent your listing from selling, and it wont even prevent it from fetching a higher sale price.
What it will do is quite simple though. When you are in your next listing appointment going through all of the reasons the seller should use you to represent them, you can show them the difference … (2 comments)

photography: Photo of the Day - Staircase at Alcatraz - 07/30/17 02:00 AM
I love how this photograph turned out. I was taking a tour of Alcatraz, in San Francisco, and on the way up the hill from where the ferry drops you off, you pass this staircase. I was struck by the colors of the moss and discoloration of the concrete nestled in the green of the surrounding ivy and shrubs. I hope you like it.

photography: Photo of the Day - Multnomah Falls Near Portland Oregon - 07/30/17 01:54 AM
This is one of my all-time favorite photographs that I have taken. I had no tripod, the light was poor, we didn't have much time (we just made a last minute stop on our way home to Montana) and I just raised my camera and took the shot without much setup. Somehow it turned out pretty amazing, in my humble opinion.

photography: Photo of the Day - Beach and Cloudy Sky on the Oregon Coast - 07/30/17 01:26 AM
This photograph was taken along the Oregon Coast near Ocean City. I took it during a small break in a spring storm and the clouds broke enough to let the sun shine through. The slight mist in the air from the sea spray combined with the rain which had just fallen gives the image a bit of a heavy feeling which I think adds to the overall picture.

photography: Photo of the Day - Paradise Montana Barn - 07/30/17 01:01 AM
I used to drive past this barn a couple times a week when I lived in Montana. It is situated just outside of Paradise Montana along Hwy 200 and the Clark Fork River.
You can't be an avid photographer in the western states, especially Montana, without finding old barns beautiful. This was always one of my favorites and I love how the distressed white barn looks with the blue sky.

photography: ATTENTION Photography Buffs - My Favorite New Photography Website - 07/28/17 10:16 PM
So I have always been a photography buff and I'm always looking out for cool new sites to share and feature my pictures.
I recently came across a site called Guru Shots and I am fully addicted to it now. Basically, you join photo challenges, with either existing photos you have already taken, or else you can go out and shoot photos specifically for the challenges. Then the members vote on their favorite photos that have been entered into the challenges. You score points and get badges and even can win cash or be featured in exhibits and things like that.
