Visit California, the state's Travel and Tourism Bureau, recently highlighted some of the state's coolest piers. Those that made the list were noted as offering impressive views, entertaining playgrounds and of course a great place to catch that breathtaking sunset. It's easy to see why two on the list are located right here in Santa Cruz County. Capitola Wharf located in Capitola Village, California's oldest seaside resort town. Here residents and guests enjoy life on the beach, fabulous boutique shopping, dinner with sunset views, plus live music and festivals throughout the season. Santa Cruz Wharf also made the list. capitola village: Come Out and Support the Capitola Village Recovery Effort this Saturday!

After several weeks of heavy rain, the Capitola Village flooded, causing millions of dollars in damage for local businesses. You can help those affected start to fix this damage by coming to the Capitola Village Revival Party and Benefit this Saturday, from 1 to 7 pm in the Capitola Esplanade Park. Bring the whole family, and enjoy sidewalk sales in the Village, a pie eating contest, face painting and more! Capitola businesses outside of the Village are also showing their support by offering a portion of their proceeds to help cover repairing expenses, so be sure to visit them too! For more (2 comments)

Santa Cruz County offers a wide variety of shopping for everyone on your list, especially in a the gem of a city called Capitola. Capitola Village is not only home to amazing restaurants like Zelda's and Margaritaville, but offers season gifters a one-stop shop experience. For those on your list who enjoy antiques, Betsy's Summerhouse Antiques offers a wide selection of items ranging from 50's funk to real antiquity. Celebrating the combination for art, wine, music and food, the Capitola Art & Wine Festival fills Capitola Village with thousands people indulging in some of life’s simple pleasures. This year on September 11th & 12th over 150 artist and 21 wineries will display and share their gifts with locals and visitors alike. Among the superb wineries to look forward to are Bargetto Winery, Hallcrest Vineyards & the Organic Wine Works, and Naumann Vineyards.
