existing home sales: The Mid Week Report on Housing - 11/20/13 01:24 AM
Now what’s ahead for housing? Lower debt to income ratios come January 10th along with some newer tougher guidelines.
With housing having been the biggest driver in pushing the economy forward over the past year or more the events of this week at the mid week report are discouraging to me. First at the beginning of the week as we were flirting with DOW 16,000 the housing market index (AKA Builders Confidence) was again above 50 at 54 but the 4th straight month of no gain. The traffic was also a low number at 42. The report does warn that activity … (1 comments)

existing home sales: Rhe Week Ahead...What Existing Home Sales mean to you? - 11/16/13 09:25 PM
Market Focus: Lots of Fed Speak around the FOMC minutes so we can continue to banter tapper theory. When will they tapper? The December meeting or next year? Look as well at the retail reports as they will provide a hint at the holiday season spending that currently appears to be weak. All that aside the DOW is knocking at the door of 16,000. As continued stimulus is discussed the market should continue to rise.
Housing Market Index: The National Association of Home Builders produces a housing market index based on a survey in which respondents from this organization are … (0 comments)

existing home sales: Half-Time Report on the Week Ahead and what it means to you? - 10/23/13 12:00 AM
Welcome to my mid week review of the week ahead. We have only finished 3 days of the current week and already these incredibly boring reports are having an impact on real people. Currently that impact is pushing mortgage interest rates to a level not seen in three months. Yesterday existing home sales were down month over month. Evidence that higher rates and prices are slowing the housing recovery down by limiting real people and reducing their buying power. Tuesday was the big employment report. This was actually last month’s report that was delayed because the government shutdown. And again the … (0 comments)

existing home sales: The Week Ahead...What Hosing Starts and the FOMC mean to you? - 09/14/13 10:53 PM
Market Focus: To “taper” or not to “taper.” While the Fed will be the primary market driver next week, investors will also look to quarterly results from FedEx Corp, viewed as a proxy for economic activity, and software giant Oracle Corp. The market will also see data on August housing starts and existing home sales, and the monthly Philadelphia Fed business index.
Empire State MFG: The New York Fed conducts this monthly survey of manufacturers in New York State. Participants from across the state represent a variety of industries. On the first of each month, the same pool of roughly … (0 comments)

existing home sales: The Week Ahead What Existing Home Sales and New Home Sales mean to you - 08/17/13 11:53 PM
Market Focus: Last week was the biggest weekly decline since June and the worst week of the year. You can blame thin trading and weak earnings from some bellwether companies and the markets continued fascination with guessing what the Fed will do. This week should provide another opportunity to see what the Fed is thinking. The rest of the week is light with existing home sales, PMI Flash and new home sales. Look for more volatility.
