kitchen: How Important Is Your Kitchen? - 02/13/22 05:06 AM
"There are two kinds of people.... there are the dreamers who go and buy,
and the doers who go and make. And I've always recognized that.
So the dreamers are those that support our company because they
will buy the product that they could make it, if they wanted to,
had the time, or were so inclined." ---Martha Stewart

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BUY?  I will ask when working with Buyers. An answer I frequently get is a nice house with a big kitchen. I will follow that up with how important is the kitchen. Listening to their response and hear them tell their reasons … (21 comments)

"The secret of a clean kitchen is simple.
Don't cook EVER..." ---Anonymous

A little humor is a good way to start the day but when buying or selling a home, product maintenance and safety is more important than a kitchen that is aesthetically pleasing. Before you update or buy a home make sure you know and understand manufacturer recommendations for care, maintenance, and product safety. Spending $50,000 or more on new kitchen updates and new trends such as flooring, cabinets, and counter tops doesn't impress anyone if you don't know what you're doing to keep it looking beautiful and new.

kitchen: The Anatomy & Insights into a House - 12/30/18 05:53 AM
Inspirational Quotes & Something to Think About for 12/30/18
by Patricia Feager

My life revolves around helping others buy and sell houses. I put together a list that contains the insights into the anatomy of a house along with quotes I researched in hopes you will find it interesting, educational, and entertaining enough to want to keep the roof over your head, or the motivation to buy a new house, or sell the one you own. Since ancient times, people have always wanted a sense of belonging. This photo was taken of me while visiting an Archeological Site in Sardina earlier this year.

Inspirational & Fun Thoughts for 12/29/2018

Dishwasher
Josephine Cochrane (1839-1913) invented the dishwashing machine in 1886. After getting married and failing to strike it rich in the Sacramento gold rush, she moved to Shelbyville, IL. It was her dishpan hands that inspired her to invent the dishwasher. After her husband died leaving her in debt, developing the dishwasher was for sake of survival. In 1916 her company was bought by Hobart which became KitchenAid, now Whirpool Corporation. My parents weren't even born when Josephine invented the dishwasher, nor was I around when it first hit the stores for a consumer to buy. My sisters and … (13 comments)

kitchen: Home Remodeling? It's All About the Balance! - 06/28/18 03:53 PM

REALLY? IS IT REALLY A REMODEL OR JUST A PARTIAL OR COMPLETE REPLACEMENT?

Have you ever noticed that when a home owner only does one major repair and doesn't finish the job, meaning, the entire kitchen or bath, it doesn't seem to matter how much the materials, i.e., Granite, Ceramic Tile, etc., cost, if everything else is still old.

Take for example new kitchen counter tops. On the surface, the new counter tops may look great and probably cost a lot of money; however, if the cabinets are still old, scratched, nicked, out-of-date, than how much extra value is there … (24 comments)

kitchen: How Has Kitchen Expectations Changed Over the Years - 06/05/18 06:15 PM
by Patricia Feager

A lot has changed in the residential kitchens over the many generations of home buyers. For example, a homeowner in the 1950's was lucky to have a stove, refrigerator, sink, linoleum floors, and if there was a pantry, people were very lucky! It was really special if people owned a Dining Room Table and a China Cabinet. If an owner was lucky, they had a kitchen table in their kitchen. The kitchen table could have been made out of Oak Wood or a metal table and chairs.

Although big and bulky, by the late 1960's and 1970's, homeowners that were … (22 comments)

kitchen: The Nuts & Bolts of Selling Your Home in Texas - 11/09/14 05:19 AM

FOR SALE BY OWNER

1) Assume all risks and liabilities:
You will open your home up to complete strangers. You will have no idea if buyers are legitimate buyers. You will be at a disadvantage if a buyer has representation. Unless you have access to the MLS you won't know the current market. You can expect the unexpected day and night all the time. Unless you are familiar with State Laws you can get yourself in trouble.
OR HIRE A LICENSED TEXAS REALTOR (WITH KNOWN FEES UP FRONT ONLY IF YOU SELL) OR HIRE AN ATTORNEY AND PAY BY THE HOUR WHETHER … (21 comments)

kitchen: Change Your Lights; Change Your World - 07/11/11 05:51 AM
Who doesn't want to have a more flattering face? According to Lighting Magazine, for bathroom renovations, get rid of those long bath bars. Replacing them with a vertically mounted bar that flanks a mirror will provide a long linear style that casts light at face height which is perfect for reducing shadows and making shaving and makeup applications easier. Pair lights with light bulbs that emit a warm color temperature, i.e., a slightly red cast to supply light that doesn't make skin look gray. Add sconces to create the mood that will set your mood for the day!
GET THE LIGHTS RIGHT AND CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE

kitchen: Thinking About Selling? How's your Kitchen? - 01/24/11 04:10 AM
KITCHEN
How does your kitchen compare to a restaurant? Is it sanitized? Does it look like a place where meals are being properly prepared, free of bacteria and dirt? Would people want to gather around your table and break bread together and drink fine wine? Or does it look cluttered, a mess, smelly, a place where people would be afraid to sit down to eat for fear that they may be sitting in the dog or cat's chair?
If you were putting your home on the market to sell, a home inspector would check the temperatures on the stove, dishwasher and … (23 comments)
