patricia feager: Day #4 - I am Thankful for American Farmers - 11/18/16 09:00 PM
Musings 11/19/2016

Today on the 4th day of reflection of what I am thankful for... my mind drifts to the farms of Wisconsin. This past August, I had the good fortune of spending time with my son and granddaughter and their family in Rural America where the smell of earth is different after the rain in Texas. My children and I were born city slickers from the heart of Chicago, close to downtown. I remember the smells of Wisconsin whenever my father packed up the car and took us on those long drives up north. I did the same - venturing out … (29 comments)

patricia feager: Day 2 - Thankful for Nature's Gifts - 11/17/16 07:44 PM
Musings 11/18/2016 -

Today I am thankful for nature's gifts. Break away from the daily routines and spend a day getting reacquainted with Mother Nature. The Japanese Gardens at the Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth: www.fwbg.org/the-japanese-garden offers peace and quiet as you reconnect with your inner soul inside the beautiful gardens. Thanks for the thoughtful contest, Debbie Reynolds.

Pond life is always interesting. My first encounter was with a family of turtles sunning on a rock in the middle of the pond. Next came the Great Blue Heron under a bridge. I spent time observing the Heron and even trailed behind as he went down the path … (11 comments)

patricia feager: A More Perfect Union, by Ben Carson, MD - 10/21/16 01:52 AM

In matters of style, swim with the current;
In matters of principle, stand like a rock.
--- Thomas Jefferson

One of the most important books I read recently is A More Perfect Union, by Ben Carson, M.D. Like most Americans, this election is anything but normal and very stressful. I found the book to be very informative, educational and calming.

Dr. Ben Carson reaffirms with strong conviction why it's important for "every citizen to read and think about the Constitution." Nowhere in our history, has political correctness mattered more than now and it is equally important to know and understand what is written in the Bill of Rights. We … (11 comments)

patricia feager: Create You Own Visual Style - 10/18/16 09:46 AM

Create your own visual style...
let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.
--- Orson Welles

While walking through the streets of WhiteFish, a mountain resort town in Montana, I came upon this fence. Quirky or not, it gave me happiness and immediate pleasure. It's not your everyday fence. I consider it, extraordinary, not ordinary creativity, in other words, someone's very own visual style. From my perspective, creativity is an attitude, something that stops you in your tracks and gets you out of the mundane, everyday life experiences.

Someone had a vision. Their idea was unique and now identifiable to anyone who … (14 comments)

patricia feager: Speechless Sunday - October 2016 - 10/16/16 01:38 AM

Happy Sweetest Day

Climb every mountain,
Search high and low,
Follow every byway,
Every path you know.
Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
'Till you find your dream.
A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live.
Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
Till you find your dream
A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life,
For as long as you live.
Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
Till you find your dream.

patricia feager: Falling In Love With Butterflies - 10/13/16 05:09 PM

©Musings by Patricia Feager, October 14, 2016

What I loved most about October 13, 2016, was the number of butterflies that continuously appeared before my very eyes in Flower Mound, Coppell, and Dallas. In Texas, Monarchs begin their migration to Mexico the last week in September through the third week in October. The invasion of butterflies is a blessing. Yesterday was a beautiful day to see Monarchs and a variety of other butterflies flying through the air and feeding on nectar to pollinate flowers. They are on a journey to cross the border into Mexico. The blue and black butterflies enjoyed fluttering over … (18 comments)

patricia feager: Money Is The Root Of All Evil - Karma - 10/12/16 09:52 PM

Musings by Patricia Feager 10/13/2016

While reading Dick Greenberg's featured story this morning about his first listing - which I highly recommend everyone read, I was intrigued by the comments, especially by Kathryn Acciari  who acknowledged that Dick "took the high road," which I agreed with because it made him a better man and more prosperous in his own business. Dick called it karma.

How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
--- Wayne Dyer

Two phrases that always stuck with me are: 1) Money is the root of all evil; 2) Take the High Road. I have been cheated many times and people … (14 comments)

patricia feager: Happiness Is A Journey & How It Relates to Moving - 10/10/16 06:18 AM

Thanks to AR Member Nina Hollander, I was reminded that the reason why I didn't get any mail today is because it's a holiday - Columbus Day! In honor of Christopher Columbus and his courage to travel, many people have been motivated and inspired to travel and move to other parts of the country. In my recent adventure to the State of Montana, I found contentment and experienced some challenges along the way. The sights were spectacular!

Traveling by rental car took me outside of my comfort zone. It was further down the road just before the pine trees I had … (20 comments)

patricia feager: Conquering My Greatest Fears in Glacier National Park - 10/08/16 03:13 PM

©by Patricia Feager 10/8/2016

I have always been drawn to the mountains to find my courage and peace of mind. This was my second trip to Glacier National Park, well known for being Grizzly Country. I discovered I can still climb, hike, and gain insights by skillfully putting one foot in front of the other without sliding backward. Personally, I support protecting existing wild country and wildlife. It is there where I am reminded how rare and wonderful is the ability to hike completely alone with my thoughts and my sights on my surroundings. But I won't kid you, it is very … (17 comments)

patricia feager: Romancing Your Marketplace With A KISS in Flower Mound - 09/22/16 12:43 AM

When AR members Alexandra & Ron Seigle challenged members to a Romanticize Your Marketplace: September Active Rain Contest! I began to think about the laws of attraction and how it relates to my marketplace. They say, "Most people buy homes based on their emotions and then justify their choices with logic." I began to give this serious thought.

People come in all different sizes, shapes, and personality traits. Unless you're a licensed Psychologists it may be difficult to pinpoint CORE mapping. Even though I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Behaviorial Science, and in my former career, I was a Recruiter in … (8 comments)

patricia feager: Mission, Vision, Values for Real Estate Business - 08/21/16 08:44 PM

When it comes to my personal Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Value Statement, I think Maya Angelo said it best and this is who I mirror when it comes to business:

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, some compassion,
some humor, and some style." --- Maya Angelou

The Mission Statement – Building relationships with people to buy and sell homes no matter what size, shape, situation or budget.

The Vision Statement – Being there for the past, present, and future clients when your Real Estate needs are needed most!

Values Statement - Placing value … (8 comments)

patricia feager: Trust is a Must! - 04/15/16 02:22 PM

On the topic of business, trust is a must! Whenever two or more people work together, they must rely on each other to achieve a mutual goal. Whether it's obtaining a mortgage, getting a home staged by a professional, hiring a Real Estate Agent, or a Home Inspector, success is rooted in trust.

In negotiations between Real Estate agents, trust and cooperation is a necessity. Lives are at stake and purchasing Real Estate is one of the biggest investments a person makes in their lifetime. No matter how many transactions a person goes through, each one deserves to be treated with mutual respect. … (27 comments)

patricia feager: How Do You Sell Your House When Your Closet Is In Crisis? - 04/08/16 10:04 PM

As a Real Estate Agent, one of the chief complaints I hear from women is the closets are not BIG enough! The challenge begins to try to find the biggest closet for a buyer who may be on a tight budget and can't afford a bigger home with bigger closets. Unless a home is custom built most homes will have similar floor plans and that means same size, similar closets. This is NOT a healthy move for the buyer and it is just as stressful on the Sellers.

WHAT SHOULD A SELLER DO?

To overcome the buyers objection the buyer needs the Seller to adjust their … (32 comments)

Iris blowing in the wind
Reminiscent of white linens

Wind blows
Smell the freshness

Windy weather

Though air may be damp and the winds may blow, life goes on in Flower Mound, Texas. It has been a week of executing contracts and home inspections. People are on the move!

Personal letters stuffed inside stamped envelopes went out from the Post Office before sunset yesterday. They will be delivered to family and friends from distant places, overseas and the Midwest. As I walked out the swinging glass door my eyes drifted to the white Iris planted below the trees, … (41 comments)

patricia feager: The Miracle of Spring & People - 03/27/16 12:26 AM

Easter Sunday March 27, 2016

Easter is a celebration of our connection to what is here on earth and what lies ahead. Flowers have been a symbol of celebration for many occasion. Weddings, graduation, birth, birthdays, death, congratulations, and holidays. Flowers are forever present.

Today is Easter Sunday. Flowers are the hallmark of spring. It is a beautiful time of the year. Patiently we wait for spring to come; then celebrate life events that matter. Like the flowers that victoriously bloom, so do people. We are part of the human race striving for victory! As flowers gradually reveal their true beauty, people aim … (44 comments)

When you wish upon a star and you believe in dreams they can come true!

All our dreams can come true
if we have the courage to pursue them
---- Walt Disney

Where does this story begin? It is about a family who comes from the Netherlands to Pilot Point, TX to fulfill a dream. First, you need to have a passion. Then, you add love, really love what you're doing. All it takes is creating, planning, implementing, planting, designing, digging, evaluating, fighting the elements in nature to survive, maintaining the farm, having the money to make your dream become a reality, then … (12 comments)

patricia feager: RESULTS OF DALLAS AR MEET-UP WITH MICHAEL THORNTON - 02/25/14 12:41 AM

As promised, Michael Thornton, Home Inspector Extraordinaire kicked up his heels and came to Dallas. His invitation for an AR Meet-Up on Sunday, 2/23 was well received by all the Rainers I contacted in the Dallas area by email, voice-mail, personal phone calls and the post on ActiveRain.

Thanks to all who responded who would have loved to make it but couldn't and special thanks to those whom despite schedule conflicts had meaningful conversations with me by phone. I especially enjoyed talking to Alexander Harb who was on the road with his rig in Oregon.

Although last minute scheduling prevented many from attending, … (26 comments)

patricia feager: Writing is an Art - A Blog is a Personal Gift - 10/26/13 08:24 PM

Writing is an art, like a painting or a portrait that produces vibrant impact; the right words open up the heart to emotion and feelings. Flowers from my Flower Mound garden reminds me that we grow through the seasons of life and we have a responsibility to grow strong and healthy in an environment that produces continuous challenges.

Writing, like the beauty of a flower reminds me to live in the paradox of striving to be joyful and happy while we make plans for the future. Good thoughts and flowers are an instant pick-me-up; … (43 comments)

patricia feager: LIFE IS GOOD - SPRING IS A CATALYST FOR CHANGE! - 04/04/13 03:14 PM

Spring is a catalyst for change. This is the season of re-birth and I was lucky enough to be born on April 3. I spent today and my birthday, at the Collin County Association of REALTORS® training room learning about finance for my final GRI. I have two more classes next week before completing my Real Estate designation. Most people would prefer to celebrate their special day some other way – but I am not like other people - I am somebody who embraces change.

patricia feager: Life is Good - Buyers Presentation for the Dream House - 01/16/13 05:40 AM

My favorite American writer and philosopher is Henry-David Thoreau. If he were alive today, I would have to find out what his goals are to help him pursue his dreams. I’m a Real Estate Agent. My goal is to help buyers and sellers buy and sell Real Estate. Knowing what I already know about my prospective buyer, calling him by phone, sending an email or Text would not work; therefore, I would knock on his door. He’d invite me inside offering me a cup of herbal tea or fresh ground coffee. Then I’d start taking notes.

I quote, my first note would read as follows: … (31 comments)
