My father wore poppies. He told me my grandfather served in WW1 after which red poppies became a symbol of remembrance for those that served and died for our country. I learned about the poem, "In Flander's Field" written in 1915. It begins like this, "In Flanders fields the poppies blow, between the crosses, row on row..."
