thankful: Thankful for America - 11/23/23 09:02 AM
O beautiful for spacious skies,For amber waves of grain,For purple mountain majestiesAbove the fruited plain!
America! America!God shed His grace on thee,And crown thy good with brotherhoodFrom sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feetWhose stern impassioned stressA thoroughfare for freedom beatAcross the wilderness.
America! America!God mend thine ev'ry flaw,Confirm thy soul in self-control,Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes provedIn liberating strife,Who more than self their country loved,And mercy more than life.
America! America!May God thy gold refineTill all success be nobleness,And ev'ry gain divine.
O beautiful for patriot dreamThat sees beyond the yearsThine alabaster cities gleamUndimmed by human tears.

America! America!God shed his grace … (26 comments)

thankful: I Am Thankful For My Sense of Smell - 11/10/23 07:52 AM
THIS IS MY THIRD ENTRY FOR THE 2023 ACTIVERAIN THANKSGIVING CHALLENGE. HEARTFELT THANKS GOES TO Debe Maxwell, CRS.

I am thankful for the sense of smell. If you played Trivia with Wayne Martin on 11/10/2023, you would have learned that smell is closely related to memory. That was the day I had the inspiration to write this post. To smell is a great gift. During Covid when people were losing their sense of smell, I became more grateful for my ability to smell and taste. Thoughts of loved ones were constantly on my mind. Many nights were spent looking through family photographs, … (24 comments)

thankful: Thursday is for being Thankful for being Humbled - 10/12/23 06:45 AM
During the late 1980's, I was humbled. Getting married, having children, and becoming a widow was not my all American Dream. I grieved, but only after dark when the kids were fast asleep. Letting go is very hard. He wasn't supposed to die so quickly. We should have, but did not have life insurance. For the first five years, I could not let go and leave my kids alone during summer months while I had to work. Being a stay-at-home mom to becoming the breadwinner without a job was like tossing me into an open fire in the woods, far, far … (33 comments)

thankful: Truly Thankful Today - 08/28/23 05:09 AM
Today is Motivational Monday. Every now and then, I need to be reminded that the treasures here on earth are not the things made by humans that I own, or wish I had, but the real people in my life who have given me love and appreciation. And I, I have respectfully reciprocated. Life is about what we give and not what we take. Something as beautiful as a sunrise is free for the taking, to immerse within our hearts and soul. And the greatest gift of all is the love of family and friends.

Something as simple and beautiful as a … (30 comments)

thankful: Thursday is for Thankful Thursday - 07/27/23 07:16 AM
Thursday is only one of 7 days of the week I give thanks. In this previous photo stand two very important people who I served in my real estate business since the beginning of my career. Between buying, selling, flipping houses, renting, and referrals I must have had at least 30 to 40 or more closings. Not only were we friends to the end of their dabbling in their real estate journey to build wealth, we are still friends. They are now comfortably retired. Our communication lines remain open.
I met Louise from my previous career. She was one of my many … (16 comments)

thankful: November 2022 - I Am Thankful for Memories - 11/22/22 03:09 PM
November is the time to express gratitude. There are many things I am grateful for, but if I had to bundle my favorites inside a box with a pretty ribbon and top it with a bow, this is what you would find. A testimonial to what my best memories are, and why they are so special to me. Afterall, every single memory, big or small, great or not is a blessing to be pondered and appreciated.  A memory is a blessing. You must believe!

I am grateful for life’s many celebrations. Tying it all together, I would regret if memories did not … (11 comments)

WHEN YOU BELEIVE, DREAMS DO COME TRUE
The year was 1979. Location, Lake Villa, Illinois. I thought I was looking for a home to raise my kids, but as it turned out the front door of the white ranch with shutters in the distance seemed to beckon me to come forward. My first impression was the beautiful backdrop of forest trees behind the house. The TREES got my attention!
It was late spring. The branches were bare but I could already see in my mind’s eye buds on the branches and … (25 comments)

thankful: Thinking about Thanksgiving Day? - 11/13/21 06:50 AM
Thinking about Thanksgiving Day raises awareness about gratitude. We know there is a lot to be thankful for year-round; however, when the day is set aside as a National Holiday it extends appreciation to others in special ways that ordinarily might have been taken for granted. Simple things come to mind, such as the sacrifice by the cook in the kitchen preparing a Thanksgiving dinner, the courage to forgive and forget disputes and come together as a family, taking down barriers that caused friction, and most of all, showing mutual respect to our veterans, the elderly, the children and everyone in … (27 comments)

For the November Contest
"Thankfulness," for Debbie Reynolds

Today is my 9th entry for the November Challenge, "What Are you Thankful For?" I am thankful for "The People," who came into my life when I needed them most and didn't even know how much they were needed. Here's a snapshot of what I mean.

This photo was taken last September in Kalispell, Montana. I found myself alone at a coffee shop. There, I could smell the scent of delicious hot coffee and taste it too! I could hear the voices of people, talking about bears and people stories. I saw decor and landscape unique … (9 comments)

Entry #8 for Debbie Reynolds - Thankfulness Contest

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive;
and to do so with some passion, compassion,
some humor and some style."
--- Maya Angelo

I am thankful for true passion. It’s the gratification one learns as a result of success. Passion is the outcome of one’s ability to succeed at most things in life that can be measured by your ability to be accountable with determination and a willingness to achieve.

Passion is organic. You can’t plant it, digest some magic pill or be induced by injection into your body. When it comes … (21 comments)

thankful: Giving Thanks Doesn't Have to End... Does it? - 11/26/17 08:30 AM
by Patricia Feager, 11/26/2017

This post is written for the people who don't live with family members in multi-generational homes or in close proximity because a move or relocation changed the family dynamics. Holidays can be stressful only if you let it. Giving thanks doesn't have to end... does it?

In order to seek true happiness, we need to learn to
distinguish real happiness from imaginary kind --- John Lock
