Trail of Terror Back in Action for 18th Year
Are you easily frightened? Does your heart race when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings? Do you watch scary movies with one eye closed through a tiny gap between your fingers? If so, then you may want to avoid one of the area’s most “spook”-tacular attractions this October. Or at least bring a bunch of friends.
Beginning October 5th, Wayne Barneschi once again brings his cool scare factory to life at its 60 North Plains Highway and promises that there will be many new additions to the already legendary line-up of ghosts, ghouls, devils … (9 comments)

Giorgio Returns to Wallingford for Sonic Serenade

Back in January a local musician named Giorgio Fareira struck gold - and made a Sonic employee's day - by singing his order at the Wallingford Sonic. It was recorded by a friend in the car with him and the rest is history. Take a minute to watch the video, it's priceless:
The video has over a million hits on YouTube and resulted in an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he serenaded Ellen with a song he wrote just for her.
Anyway, it's just been announced that Giorgio will be coming … (0 comments)

Plaza Azteca to Replace Wallingford Applebee's
A couple months ago we heard that Applebee’s, one of our favorite local restaurants, was closing. This was surprising, as whenever we went there the place was very busy, and no reason for the closing was given. It’s always sad to see a local business close, so we were glad to see that the space would not be empty long: a new Mexican-themed restaurant, Plaza Azteca, is slated to move in and will spend the next four to five months making renovations to the building.
Knowing that this chain is well regarded, we decided to … (1 comments)

26th Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz & Blues Extravaganza in Meriden

During this stretch of warm hot weather we're having, what better way is there to do some serious chillaxin' than by listening to some cool jazz and blues? Being a jazz fan of long standing, I would venture to say, NONE.
This coming Saturday, July 28th, the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Meriden is once again playing host to the 26th Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz & Blues Extravaganza from 3 PM to 12 Midnight.
This year, the performances will again take place on two stages: an indoor stage where … (0 comments)

Wallingford Welcomes Opening of CT Motorsport Park
Back in July 2010, we wrote about plans to open an outdoor go-kart track in Wallingford. For almost two years, the 1,800 foot track have sat silent, waiting for the right time to come alive with the roar of 10.5 hp engines, the smell of rubber and gasoline, and the adrenaline rush of competition. And now, the long wait is over.

Owners Bill and Barb Doucette are proud to announce the opening of CT Motorsport Park, Wallingford’s only outdoor performance kart track. Lined by nearly 1,000 hay bales wrapped in plastic to … (2 comments)

The Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) will celebrate its 40th anniversary this weekend with a night of world-class music and dance at the Paul Mellon Arts Center on the campus of Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford.

The organization has come a long way in the 40 years since a group of local Latinos gathered in a storefront on South Cherry Street. Today, they have their own building, an executive director (Maria Harlow) and a support staff, but their mission remains the same: to help Wallingford’s growing Latino community by offering … (6 comments)

What's For Lunch in Wallingford CT?
Being the sucker for good food that I am, I’m always happy when I find a new place that serves up good grub. While out running errands today, the wife and I decided to try out a relatively new eatery in town, a place with the quaintly endearing name of “Knuckleheads”. We knew it had opened up back in December 2011, but hadn’t had a chance to try it out yet, so we thought today was a good day to do so, and we weren’t disappointed.

Named after owner Anthony Morgillo’s adopted pit bull, … (2 comments)

Beardsley Zoo Hosts CT Make-A-Wish Walk For Wishes
One of the most heartbreaking things that can happen in life is to be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness as a child. Not only can it be incomprehensible to the child, but it robs them of the hope and joy of living a full and rewarding life. The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and its many local chapters is to give back that hope and joy to as many of these children as possible, and we have been volunteers with the Connecticut chapter for some time. Pat is a Wish Granter and has … (0 comments)
