realtors: This Ain't No One Man-Show... - 06/10/08 11:05 AM
Whether you've followed my blogs in the past, or this is your first one, I'd like to thank you for reading.  After a year of being on AR, I've decided that it's not just about me.  I have a whole team behind me that give me ideas and inspiration.  They write terrific blogs, and although they're not "high ranking", I felt they deserved as much attention and respect as mine did.
Therefore, I have changed my profile and am now acknowledging my entire team on this site.  I have identified what personal information is mine, and will be adding my cohorts … (0 comments)

realtors: Thanks NY! - 01/15/08 02:47 PM
Me and a few of my team have been here in New York City, and surrounding areas, since Saturday evening.  We've had a great trip (mostly for business, but with a little free time) and have truly enjoyed being able to come up here.
I'd like to take a minute to thank those new folks who came out to join us (Thanks for the opportunity!), those who already knew us (Thanks for coming out to support us!), and those who hosted us (Thanks for the accommodations!).
We intend to make another trip up here as soon as possible and hope to see many more … (0 comments)

realtors: Look out, Chicken Little... - 09/04/07 12:25 PM
The National Association of Realtors is reporting that home sales for the month of July were down 9% from the same period a year ago. Add to this the recent triple-whammy in the financial press of dismal housing starts, housing permits and mortgage lender meltdowns, and you can guess what we expect to see when the August numbers are released next week. A closer look at the real numbers reveals light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. The Commerce Department reported both housing starts and permits down sharply, but simultaneously, new home sales rose 2.8%. Do the builders see something … (1 comments)

realtors: Is it real? Or retouched? - 07/15/07 10:58 AM
Real estate agents are in the middle of an ethical debate surrounding their use of creative license in their MLS listings. Property sellers and real estate agents looking for that elusive "edge" are skirting the ethical boundaries of the law by airbrushing property photographs before posting them on the local MLS or their websites. The National Association of Realtors says that 83% of home buyers search the internet before buying. Given that most of these net-savvy buyers can look at a huge number of listings very quickly, they can just as quickly rule out many properties based on what they see … (3 comments)

realtors: Selling in a gated community... - 05/29/07 08:42 AM
May 29, 2007 -- Imagine for a moment that you own a homesite in a beautiful gated community, and you have decided to build a spectacular high-end house there. It seemed like a great idea - especially when the market was booming. But now that your lovely home is complete, and you've had it listed with a luxury-specialist high powered Realtor recommended to you by the builder and developer, it sits... and sits... and sits... while you continue to make mortgage payments every month... eating into your profit! Why, you ask, hasn't the home sold? You've priced it where your Realtor … (0 comments)

realtors: Realtor Smackdown, Part 2 - 05/22/07 12:23 PM
CBS News' 60 Minutes gave 13 minutes to the real estate industry on May 13th, but the recognized experts in the industry - REALTORS® - were given the silent treatment. The predictable result, one-sided journalism and a number of egregious errors (some of which have already been retracted on CBS' website), serves nobody. So, let's set the record straight, once and for all:1. The piece featured interviews with a representative from the now-defunct eRealty, as well as the president and CEO of online discount broker Redfin, but no one from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), even though NAR twice offered and … (4 comments)

realtors: Realtor Smackdown, Part 1 - 05/22/07 12:20 PM
Did you catch last Sunday's "60 Minutes" piece on the real estate industry? In what amounts to a 13 minute infomercial for a Seattle-based online discount brokerage company, CBS made the unilateral decision to interview opponents of "traditional" real estate agents, allowing them to make inaccurate, blanket comments disparaging Realtors. Other than a few select comments from one "traditional" Realtor (also based in Seattle), no one from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) appeared, even though they had worked with Lesley Stahl and CBS for the past year to prepare for the story and offered spokespersons to be interviewed. Our next … (1 comments)
