south carolina real estate: South Carolina Wants Teachers!
- 06/23/08 05:03 AM
Everyone agrees that South Carolina needs more teachers, but now the state is doing what it can to lure new teachers here with generous housing assistance. The state Housing Authority is making $20 million available for home loans to new teachers. This works out to be approximately 175 new loans (i.e., new teachers) this year, which will feature a 5.9% interest rate and up to $7,000 in down payment assistance (including the possibility of not having to pay the down payment back). Loan amounts of up to $240,000 are available from more than 200 South Carolina lenders. Price & Company Realty (0 comments)

Southern Living says Myrtle Beach is second only to Disney World as region's most popular family destination! Time to make more room in the award storage cabinet. Southern Living's annual Readers' Choice Awards, which reflect the view of the magazine's 47,000 readers, announced for 2008 that Myrtle Beach is second only to Walt Disney World as a family vacation destination. This just confirms what those of you who are lucky enough to vacation here with kids already know... and why the Myrtle Beach real estate market is poised for a spectacular rebound once the media moves on to a new whipping (0 comments)

south carolina real estate: What's the best place to start?!
- 05/02/08 06:39 AM
With the various websites offering to post listings, I wonder if anyone has come up with the most time efficient way to manually enter listings onto these websites? I understand that with Reallyo, you are able to use their code to input listings into CraigsList... but are there any other interactive or multi-use sites to make this process easier? I appreciate the input and hope you all have a great weekend! It should be gorgeous here at the beach... so if you need to see some sunshine, come on out! ********* Call Price & Company Realty for all your real estate needs in the coastal Carolinas! I posted a blog titled "Forget Oprah - Here's YOUR chance to GIVE... for FREE!" last night, and I really appreciate all the response I've received so far. I hope you will vote for John, but at the very least, be more aware of how many people are affected by this terrible disease, As I noted before, I am issuing this plea to the entire AR community to help a friend's brother realize his dream... John is a father of three, has been married for 13 years... and was diagnosed with Stage 4 inoperable lung cancer one year ago. He is an otherwise (3 comments)

south carolina real estate: Customer Service and Follow Up...
- 03/26/08 04:04 AM
In todays highly competative market, you would think that companies would be highly cognizant of the customer service they provide to their customers... their lifeblood. Over the last week, I have experienced an incredible array of customer service styles from various companies in the technology field. I will not name them, or describe their field of expertise, but lets just say they are highly important, valuable, and REQUIRED services in the real estate business. The first was a MAJOR, nationwide, multi-billion dollar conglomerate. We had opened a new account (which had a balance), and closed a different account (which had a credit) - all we needed (2 comments)

south carolina real estate: Why Real Estate is like Jennifer Lopez... (or Focus on What's Really Important)
- 02/18/08 08:23 AM
Thanks to Mark Koestner of www.quitworksomeday.com, on whose blog post this is based. In the national media these days, real estate is like Jennifer Lopez. It's all about the bottom. In the Wall Street Journal Blog "Real Time Economics,"James Glassman, economist at J.P. Morgan Chase, argues most of the necessary decline in home prices has already occurred. "Given the present trends in income and house prices, real estate excesses of the past five years will have vanished by spring 2008," he argues in a new report. Thanks, James. Spring of '08 you say? Right around the corner. Great, but ... "There is (2 comments)
south carolina real estate: A Matter of Integrity...
- 02/18/08 08:13 AM
I would like to share a situation that came up a couple weeks ago between my Seller clients, and a contractor they hired for a service... A few weeks ago, our office planned a huge Parade of Homes in a gated community. With the cooperation of the Homeowner's Association, we were able to have the gates open all weekend, and coordinated a charity drive along with the event. It was highly successful, and we were very proud of the results. Prior to the event, however, we had an issue with one of our listings. The Seller had selected a cleaning service to have the (2 comments)
south carolina real estate: Paying it Forward...
- 02/15/08 05:27 AM
If you believe in the concept of "Paying It Forward" - doing good works for others to repay the good that has happened to you - then last weekend's Parade of Homes at The Bluffs on the Waterway in Carolina Forest is a perfect example of how this works. Look, we're lucky that Myrtle Beach real estate hasn't been hit by the slowdown as badly as many areas, and we are grateful for the successes we have enjoyed recently. The Parade of Homes brought more than 150 people out to look at some beautiful custom homes (good for our clients) and (3 comments)

south carolina real estate: Heartwarming, yet Heartbreaking... Part 2
- 01/22/08 08:00 AM
I've received many responses to my post last week about my visit to Ground Zero. Obviously many people are still grieving for the tremendous losses the country suffered over six years ago. Meanwhile, the politicians and commentators are bringing the events of 9/11 into their debates and speeches, mostly to criticize the actions of President Bush, and the "war on terror". I'm sure many of you saw this during the Super Bowl in 2002... and if not, you probably should. Granted, it's a Budweiser commercial, but the sentiments presented in this one minute video are just as relevant now as they were when it (1 comments)
south carolina real estate: The Tide is Turning...
- 01/17/08 08:23 AM
The latest market data report has been released from the South Carolina Association of REALTORS, indicating that not only was 2007 another record year for South Carolina, but that pending sales activity (especially on the coast) has already increased. The one challenge that the SCAR mentioned will be our biggest obstacle... consumer confidence. The negative hype, and the gloom-and-doom reporting, make it seem like our market is in much worse shape. The truth of the matter is, we're in fantastic shape and we're getting better every day. As the SCAR CEO Nick Kremydas says, "Talking about national averages is about as effective as (4 comments)
