marketing: Did Your Site Get "Dinged" By Google? - 04/24/15 05:58 AM
I think by now we all know how Google likes to spring surprise algorithm changes on us at a moment's notice.

Unfortuantely, if you're site is not prepared, you can see your ranking plummet. That's terrible, especially if you have spent a lot of time focusing on making your site keyword heavy.
Just a few days ago, there was a new change to the alorithm released. But this time it actually focused on non-responsive sites.

Because so many people now (almost half) are browsing the internet using their smart phones or tablets, if your website isn't responsive you have a good chance of … (4 comments)

marketing: One Quick and Easy Way to Get More Publicitiy - 04/22/15 12:20 AM
It never hurts to be featured in a publication.

Just a few weeks ago, I was quoted in an article about email marketing on Forbes.com. Not only was it a huge confidence boost, but I also got a bunch of new traffic to my site. Plus, now I can say "featured on Forbes.com" in my own marketing efforts.

You might notice that some people keep popping up again and again in magazines or on websites. I did in my industry and I wanted to know how I could get more press in the news.

marketing: Five of My Favorite Productivity Tools - 04/17/15 12:19 PM
I don't know about you, but there have times when it's been a struggle to stay productive. After a lot of searching and trying different methods, I've come up with a few productivity tools that have been an amazing help for me.
Here they are:
ToDoist
I've tried a lot of To Do lists and this one is my favorite. It's quick and easy, and I like that it syncs with my Google calendar, so I don't have to bother adding my list in multiple places.
I also like ToDoist because it has a number of features like having color coded projects, labels and filters, … (0 comments)

marketing: The Best Times to Post on Social Media - 04/17/15 11:50 AM
You might have seen a few infographics floating around about the best times to post on social media. If you haven't it's a good idea to take a look.
One mistake people often make is they think posting everything at the same time is a good idea. Unfortunatley, that usually isn't the case.
You see you can attract a lot of different people to your website if you work on posting your Tweets, blog posts, Facebook posts and even YouTube videos all at different times during the week.
These stats from QuickSprout provide one of my favorite looks at the best times to post on social … (4 comments)

marketing: How to Make Awesomely Clickable Blog and Social Media Photos - 04/16/15 03:13 AM
If you read my post up yesterday, The Easiest Way to Wow People With Your Blog Photos, I left you with a little bit of a cliffhanger.
Sorry about that, but I know people don't have time to read blogs all day (you'd rather be out selling!) So I try to make mine on the shorter side.
Anyway, today I want to show you how I made the photos you saw in my examples yesterday.
It's super easy.
I use two tools. The first is my favorite free stock photo site Pixabay, and the second is an awesome free photo creating site called Canva.

marketing: The Easiest Way to Wow People With Your Blog Photos - 04/16/15 02:54 AM
Let's face it, people are visual. Even though we're taught not to judge a book by it's cover, when you see something that catches your eye, aren't you more likely to click on it?
I know I am.
That's why I decided to up my game a bit on my own blog over at The Property Copy Co. I wanted to make my blog photos a bit more eye catching. And I wanted the photos to be able to do double duty.
Now, I can use my photos at the top of my blog posts as well as on all my social media.
I actually … (2 comments)

marketing: 3 Easy Opt-ins You Can Create Today - 04/07/15 03:09 AM
Getting someone to give you their email address today is hard. That's because so many people have been spammed and now, understandably, are much more wary of giving out their email.
So, in order to successfully get those email addresses today you need to do two things. The first is offer something of true value, and the second is be creative.
With so much online marketing coming our way everyday, we're desensitized to seeing the same old offer every week "sign up and join my email newsletter." Doesn't exactly get the blood rushing, now does it?
Let's fix that, today. Here are three creative … (2 comments)

marketing: 5 Places to Promote Your Content Online - 03/07/15 08:25 AM
One of the biggest mistakes people make is not promoting their content. Believe me, I've been there.

When you write a new blog post you have to do a lot of work to get it out there.

Most people typically spend 80% of their time producing content and only 20% of their time promoting it. In reality, many of the very best marketers out there flip those numbers.

Of course, it's important to be sure you're providing your readers (and potential clients) with high quality content, but you want to make sure people can actually see it too.

marketing: Are You Using Facebook Video? - 03/02/15 02:53 AM
We know that Facebook is a default method for getting in touch with potential clients online, sometimes to the detriment of other sites.

However, what I do give Facebook credit for is they are quick to try out new things, and if you jump on them quickly, you can see a massive advantage over your competition.

Remember when everyone was very upset that Facebook was charging money to run ads?

Well, there were two types of people out there when that happened. The first was swearing off Facebook forever as an ineffective platform, the second were using the very … (3 comments)

marketing: 5 Places to Find Free Stock Photos Online - 03/01/15 12:32 PM
If you're anything like me, finding the right photo to include in my blog can be a major pain in the you know what.

I used to spend an incredible amount of time searching for a photo that fit the theme and I didn't have to pay out of the nose for.

Sometimes, I felt like I was spending more time searching than it took me to actually write the post!

Frustrating to say the least.

Finally, a few sites out there decided, in the words of Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, to "stop the madness" and … (1 comments)

marketing: Why Long Tail Keywords Can be Huge for Your Business - 02/17/15 05:14 AM
Have You Googled Yourself?

I know, it's kind of a strange question, unless you're looking for some newfound celebrity. But, when it comes to being found online the very first thing you need is an online presence.

Many of the most successful real estate agents are really focusing in on building their online brand. That can be through getting active on social media, having a blog, being seen as an area real estate expert, and making nice websites for their area or expertise.

How much of these are you doing?

What a lot of agents have found … (0 comments)

marketing: Are You Mobile Ready? - 02/14/15 12:37 AM
Mobile is huge today. Did you know mobile search is overtaking the traditional desktop or laptop computer?

In fact, the vast majority of internet users today own a smart phone, I'm guessing you're in that group too. Just think about how often you are using your phone for everything but calls and texts. Chances are, quite a bit.

Your potential clients are doing the same. More and more people are using their phone (and tablets) as the place they start their search. This is certainly true for real estate.

Here are a few stats to back it up:

marketing: How Good is Your Local Exposure? - 01/30/15 05:49 AM
A lot of real estate professionals, and people in the industry like mortgage brokers, do a deep focus on their local area.
This can be a great way to get more qualified leads, especially when you are seen as THE local expert in your region.
But, many don't because they feel like it's just too time consuming. The good news is it doesn't have to be that way.
Why?
Because of syndication.
Here's how it can work.
Reach out to a few of your local newspapers, blogs, even social media sites. Ask if you can become the local real estate expert, … (5 comments)

In my last post, Three of My Favorite Time Saving Social Media Tools, I got a lot of comments from people who had never heard of the tools I'd mentioned but were very interested.

So, I figured, since I am pretty experienced in all three, I'd devote a few blog posts to diving a bit deeper into each one. I know how so many people in real estate are super pressed for time, so learning a new system from scratch can seem pretty daunting.

Hopefully, this will help!

Still struggling to find time to market yourself online via social media? I know the feeling! That's why I thought I'd share some of my favorite tools I use for social media that are real time savers.
Here they are:
BuzzSumo
What I love about BuzzSumo is it tackles two things at once. First, it shows you what some of the most shared content for a particular keyword has been over a period of time.
Second, it gives you a great look at what type of content is being shared, perfect for thinking about your own blog posts. Here's a … (48 comments)

marketing: The Easiest Way to Get Client Referrals - 01/09/15 03:51 AM
In my last post on here I gave a bunch of hard data from a report released by the National Association of Realtors on buyer and seller trends. In it, one of the biggest takeaways for me was just how many buyers and sellers find their agent through referrals.
My guess is for a lot of agents out there, this is a hugely untapped resource. In fact, could you cite just how much of your business is done via referral?
One of the biggest keys to getting more referrals is to just ask for them. It's really simple, yet somewhat of … (0 comments)
