Tim here, wanted to wrap up the week (and head into Memorial Day) with some good news (re: Zillow facing another comeuppance).

An article I read today, entitled Zillow real estate Zestimates under fire, reports “…an Illinois real-estate broker filed a lawsuit based on the Zestimates and their accuracy…saying that potential buyers will look at the Zestimate compared to the actual market price of a house and be misled.

That lawsuit was eventually dropped, but a second one was filed, this time seeking class action status on behalf of several Chicago-area builders that could ‘consist of millions of homeowners,’ … (4 comments)

Then why on Earth are you worried about Google ranking, Website Traffic, and Internet leads?
Putting 100% of your time and effort into something that is less than 10% of your business makes absolutely no sense. 
The companies that call you to sell you Optimized websites are using long tailed keywords that no one searches (ex. Colorado Springs homes with a swimming pool under $400,000).

Apply this age-old saying to your database.
 
If you aren't providing hyper-local real estate activity, comparables, and market values to your homeowners, do you think they won't go and find it on their own?
Ask yourself this: Would someone rather sit in a dark room or go find the light switch? 
Open Houses are that light switch!
Zillow and other websites (in their mind) is that light switch!

We just read an article titled “Can you run a successful business without Zillow, Trulia or Realtor.com?” We think that any article that shows both sides of a debate is commendable. We have to understand all sides to an issue. So read both sides. Then hear us out:
C’mon guys-OF COURSE you can run a successful business without these syndication portals.
 
There is so much inaccuracy on these sites, so much time waste-age. Real estate is a people business. You are helping people make HUGE life, family, and money … (2 comments)

It takes years to build up a quality database of buyers and sellers, and only 2 months for them to forget about you.
Top-of-Mind is more than emailing and more than the occasional phone call. It is being the "go-to" person in your clients lives for all things real estate.
