adoption: Day # 1: I am Thankful for Being Adopted - 11/20/16 09:39 AM
My bother Adam and I, were adopted by the Schumacher's and Provenzale's, back in the early 1980's. Being adopted offers unique perspectives on life. Its an immense blessing and at times challenging for both the adopted children and parents.
Non the less, I am very thankful for the upbringing and family that surrounds me. My mother, Carole Provenzale, provided me with some of the best foundational wisdom any child, daughter and woman could ask for. My father is always there, ready to offer assistance with life and reassurance when things seem questionable.
A new chapter is about to begin, and that will include returning to Colombia to discover my original heritage and native roots. To be continued...

adoption: Being Adopted Never Ends Well... - 08/12/15 10:56 PM
Being Adopted Never Ends Well...
Is this true? If you are adopted that life is horrible, that you are completely and utterly lost because you were not born into a biological family?

If that is the perspective you hold, I send prayers of compassion to you.

Of course you will have your challenging times, growing pains and typical questions of, who am I?  It's part of the process of life.

This is truly an exciting moment for her and such a huge inspiration for all who are adopted, whether abroad or nationally. It takes courage and bravery to journey outside your comfort zone, yet amazing opportunities await and will help you grow in leaps and bounds.
For those who are adopted, adopted parents and friends of those who are experiencing this lifestyle, please connect with Heather … (3 comments)

adoption: Fitting into the Mold of Another’s Definition - 08/12/14 06:28 AM

Fitting into the Mold of Another’s Definition

For those who are unaware, the story of my life began in Bogotá, Colombia and after 8 months I was adopted by my loving mother and father, Carole and Robert, who brought me to America.
From the days that I can remember as a young girl and even today, judgment and criticism about me not knowing my Colombian culture or language has been constant.
my response at first would be I am learning the language, I do research my culture, etc..yet it never seemed like a good enough answer to please the questioner.

Yep, it's a … (7 comments)
