alaska: The U.S. Senate Approves Killing Bears and Wolves While Hibernating - 03/25/17 10:56 AM
I am not one who usually posts political updates, yet this just touched a nerve. Our American U. S. Senate approved hunting in 16 of Alaska's National Wildlife refuges. Do they understand what refuge means?

Refuge: being safe and sheltered from pursuit, danger, trouble and violence.

By repealing hunting restrictions on national wildlife refuges in Alaska (established in 2016), it undermines the critical role predators play in healthy ecosystems. So what does this mean? Aerial hunting, live trapping, baiting of predators such as bears and wolves — as well as on killing those predators while near their dens or their cubs is allowed.

alaska: Kayaking Alaska in Seaward - 08/02/15 11:24 AM
Kayaking Alaska in Seaward
We explored Alaska by so many means of transportation. Hiking, biking, driving, bus tours, flying and now kayaking. All the methods had unique experiences to offer. This was a tandem ocean kayak (which you can save a little bit if you share). And in fact I may even suggest you work as a team, as the current is strong and having two paddlers is less tiresome than one.
This kayaking adventure blended ocean kayaking with a short hike. Be sure to bring snacks, water and fluids that offer electrolytes as you will eat up some energy; especially paddling against the current. We did spot a lot of jumping salmon and one sea otter.

alaska: Answer To Pop Quiz About Alaskan Wildlife - 07/30/15 12:00 PM
Answer To Pop Quiz About Alaskan Wildlife
Majority of Alaska's land has be designated National and Start Park regions. Denali itself is 6 million acres of untouched wilderness. When you arrive in Alaska, do you think the wildlife population will be in abundance all around? This includes near major Alaskan cities, the coast line, National and State park and preserves.

How can you see these animals? You need to have patience first and foremost, and go to where majority of them … (4 comments)

alaska: Whittier Alaska Glacier Cruise Along The Prince William Sound - 07/29/15 09:33 AM
Whittier Alaska Glacier Cruise Along The Prince William Sound

Alaska is so vast, it's a bit overwhelming with the amount of actives you can do to explore this amazingly powerful and beautiful land. The second day we traveled down to the southern cost of Alaska to take a cruise along the Prince William Sound to view several Glaciers, with the Blackstone being the highlighted glacier to view.
The Kenai Star took us on a 5 hour tour along the Prince William Sound. Ranger John was also among the supportive staff riding the ship to help educate us about the regions history and geographic formation over the … (8 comments)
