angeles national forest california: Exploring Mount Baldy In California's Angeles National Forest

Mount Baldy or Mt Baldy, formerly Camp Baynham and Camp Baldy, is an unincorporated community in the San Gabriel Mountains, in San Bernardino County near the eastern border of Los Angeles County, in southern California.
There is about 70 miles worth of trails to explore! We didn't have enough time to even get into the depth of this amazing vast park, yet what we did explore was pretty impressive. To start, our hike begain at 4,500 feet in elevation with the otpion of climbing to 10,064 feet to summit.
Many of the trees in this region are over 300 years old.

A great day hike or longer trek spot to check out when in California is Angeles National - Forest Santa Anita Canyon trails. Unfortunately due to the drought, the beautify display of various water falls and places to swim have become slim.
None the less, hiking this beautiful forest is well worth it.
During our day hike we came across some cliff jumpers.
The trails are easy to follow. During this hike we did encounter a lot of pesky bugs. They didn't bite, but they were always buzzing in your ear and around you. With that in mind, bug spray or at least a head net may be worth carrying along.

Visiting California is always a treat. After a 4 hour hike in the Angeles National Forest, we stopped off at Carmela's Ice Cream CO. They are known for combining unique gourmet ice cream flavors.
