environmental psychology: Organize Your Strip Mall's Layout Design To Flow With Ease - 11/03/15 11:31 PM
The other day I treated myself to Sushi in Los Angeles, California. Driving to the location was not a problem, yet navigating through the strip mall became a bit challenging.

The strip mall had some interesting design features while at the same time the layout felt and looked confusing. The names and address numbers of the businesses throughout the mall were concealed by various plants, except for the Banquet and Conference Center sign. The restaurant I was looking for was not even located within the main portion of the mall, it was along the perimeter. Even navigating how to go up and down each level reach was a bit deceiving.

environmental psychology: Environmental Psychology and Feng Shui - 09/04/15 07:01 AM

In 1970, Environmental Psychology was founded on three central ideas at the start of the 1970s.
1) The incorporation of the physical environment into psychology.

2) The adoption of field research that would operate outside of the laboratory, the received mode in psychology, where variables can be controlled and manipulated, to embrace the messy world of the everyday complex variables of people-environment relationships

3) Takes various perspectives for understanding the interactions of people and place, while embracing the policy and design disciplines that shape our environments.
3,000-6,000 years ago, Feng Shui was founded in the mountain regions of China based on the principles of Taoism

Feng Shui Office Tip: Rough Edges On Your Folders Need To Go

Feng Shui is based on the lifestyle of respecting people, environments and even objects. Objects are are an interesting discussion because in Feng Shui they represent certain thoughts, actions and words that have been manifested into a physical form.

I am working with a client who’s intention is to call in more business. I asked him to please be specific. He continued and said, I want my business to have returning and brand new clients, I need to make more money. I reminded him, if the focus is the bottom line, … (4 comments)

environmental psychology: Is Feng Shui Interior Design Or A Spiritual Practice? - 06/01/15 02:51 AM
Is Feng Shui Interior Design Or A Spiritual Practice?
The short answer, it is a collaboration of both worlds. Believing before seeing, imagination before creation. Both will help support the next. Feng Shui's foundation pulls from the principles of Taoism.

The Principles of Taoism:

Observe Nature – All is one Dynamic Balance – The Sacred Path in which Ch’i is borne (from nothing creates everything) Continual Cycles – Season into season, night into day, etc. Harmonious Action – The give-and-take of nature occurs Law of None Resistance – As there is no resistance in nature, success is forthcoming.

Real Estate Development Feng Shui Furnishing Tips

Feng Shui (Environmental psychology) is being embraced by many in America and in the world. Why? Because it practices a mindset of mindfulness with yourself, others and your environment.
When you walk into a space and look around using all your senses, touch, taste, smell (which taste is connected to smell), sight, and sound, it all creates a neurological connection to your brain and emotional connection to your heart. These are the ingredients that create the experiences we have daily.
Real Estate developers are beginning to understand and be open to the principles of Feng Shui when it comes to marketing and seeing … (3 comments)

Feng Shui Pop Quiz Answer: Why Is The Number 3 So Important?

Feng Shui (environmental psychology) taps into various realms of teachings and combines them to create a cohesive blend of various insights. Part of those teachings pull from numerology and in particular the number 3 carries great significance.
Answer:
In Feng Shui 3 is seen as a sign of abundance, creating the mindset that there is always plenty. This thought was adopted from a form of Buddhism and the story of the 3 saints of the west who represent infinite light, wisdom and compassion.
Taking another perspective on the number 3, we travel back to Egypt. In Egypt, the pyramids (Sacred Geometric Shape of … (8 comments)

Feng Shui Myth Buster: Feng Shui is Only For Those of Asian Decent
Feng Shui (environmental psychology) made it's presence known in America around the 1980's. Yet it was not until 1997, The Metropolitan Institute of Design graduated the first certified accredited class in 1997.

Eighteen years later, the same misconceptions are still being spoken about. There is also talk of a consultant having to be Asian in order to practice or be any good.  So as the community of Feng Shui consultants, experts and masters continues to grow and expand, we have to ask ourselves as a group, are we providing the correct information on why, how, what, where and when Feng Shui is utilized?

environmental psychology: Let Go of Time - 04/15/15 06:09 AM
Let Go of Time

This was a section of an office I came across during a business Feng Shui consultation in New Jersey. Having a clock in your office offers a practical function, yet when you have 4 in a row behind you, that becomes another matter.
In the practice of Feng Shui (also known as Environmental Psychology) we encourage one clock, or a clock that is not directly present to you all the time, to no clocks (more so at home), if possible. The reason is from a Feng Shui perspective, if you have so many clocks bundled in one section, one a clock in every room in your home, … (11 comments)

Looking For a Fast Feng Shui Fix?

Feng Shui teaches you how to enjoy the process of life (even when things seem dim) and be present with your journey. Patience is a core principles in the teachings of Feng Shui (Environmental Psychology) that is needed during the process of transformation. If you approach Feng Shui with the focus of Fast fixes only, its as if you are just putting a band-aide on the underlining causes to the challenges (lessons) you face.
You need to take your time, allow the process to unfold as needed, let go of comparing yourself to others,  remove the expectations and be as open as … (6 comments)

Feng Shui Insight: Healing Emotions Among Doctors and Patients During and After Treatments
This post was inspired by my a trip exploring Boston MA and stopping off at the Harvard University Bookstore in town.  I made my way over to the medical collection and found a mixture of interesting reads.

There seems to be a tug of war among the up coming generations of doctors. Some thought forms are promoting the "traditional methods" while others are opening up to the understanding the importance to emotional intelligence and Feng Shui (environmental psychology) in the field of medicine and it's benefits.
There is more and more talk about integrative medicine which includes tapping into … (4 comments)
