feng shui consultant: Another Day, Another Fair and Some Reflections---From Feng Shui Long Island in Massapequa - 10/09/07 11:13 AM
I'm not quite sure if I found her or she found me; no matter.  We're Activerainers and one thing we have in common is that we BOTH love our local fairs.  If you haven't guessed by now, I'm speaking of Lisa Heindel and here's a link to her latest adventure:  2007 Gretna Heritage Festival a Big Success
This fair isn't one I usually go to but it is the ONLY fair my son goes to.  Having my daughter home from college for the weekend (and already tired from the previous fair that same day) we decided to go meet up with … (21 comments)

feng shui consultant: Let's Talk About Predecessor Energy: A Feng Shui Post from Feng Shui Long Island - 10/06/07 07:53 PM
For years I have been reading a wonderful website called http://www.hauntedrealestate.com/for further information on the way "hauntings" have been handled by others. I have had to drag myself off that site and little did I know that one day I would be graced to be able to "meet" the person who had put it together, Mary Pope-Handy!  Her recent post A Halloween and Ghostly MeMe (thanks Mike Mueller!)  inspired this post.  In my profession it is NOT unusual to be called to a client's new home or for a pre-purchase "inspection" to see if the home suits them from a Feng Shui Perspective. As … (30 comments)

feng shui consultant: How DO You Measure Your Success? It's not so simple... - 10/04/07 03:25 PM
I know I have a different "job" then most but regardless of what we do, we all want the very best for our clients.  Yesterday I had a phone call from a potential client who had an interest (though not an understanding) of Feng Shui.  Most clients do not ask me that many questions, which is surprising.  I believe if I were inviting someone into my home or office I would ask quite a few questions but I have found that they read your website and/or blogs and that spurs their decision to call you.
I was explaining Feng Shui to this … (26 comments)

feng shui consultant: Fun at The Fair: Bellmore, Long Island, New York/A Feng Shui Consultants' Play Time! - 10/03/07 03:50 PM
I love this time of year for it's wonderful fairs and festivals all over Long Island, New York.  I go to as many as I can and you can find many of them in all different towns.  One fair I never miss is a wonderful Fair in Bellmore, Long Island.  They have some amazing Handmade Crafts, rides (yes, I still like them :) and of course, good food.  Bellmore is a lovely little town and it's quite progressive which is one of the things I love about it.  It has a variety of old time stores mixed with the new as … (19 comments)

feng shui consultant: HEADLINE: "Feng Shui Comes to Jones Manor" Bayville,Oyster Bay, Long Island - 09/29/07 11:39 AM
I've apparently been reading WAY too many wonderful posts.  I wanted to honor the person that gave me this idea in a post and I can't find it---I need some HELP!  Hold on, I got it!  It kept me up all night but the genius of this idea was Andrew Lenza and here is his blog:  Pay it Forward: Write a Localism Blog for a Non Profit Organization in Your Area.   THANK YOU, ANDREW!!
I have always wanted to give back and help an organization or some place or people on Long Island that are in need.  And there are many of … (18 comments)

feng shui consultant: You need Persistance AND Creativity in New York City - 09/25/07 02:45 PM
I am all for taking some time out for just plain FUN.  I make it a point every year to go to the Annual San Gennaro Feast, Manhattan's biggest, most famous and longest running "festival."  This year was the 80th Festival and that's one LONG time.  If you've watched The Godfather, you've probably seen parts of it on TV.  Being there, however, is a little different!
I always go with my daughter and the weather called for a bright, sunny day.  One of those picture perfect days for strolling around the city.  A little background:  The San Gennaro Feast is held in … (26 comments)

feng shui consultant: FUN Feng Shui: Getting Back to my Favorite Subject! - 09/13/07 03:06 PM
I was out "working" yesterday and can't tell you how wonderful it was to be at someone else's home and hearing their issues.  I actually wondered if I would be able to get my mind off my home and it was SO easy to let go and get back to what I love.
Through this whole lesson (which gets more complicated by the day but I'm NOT discussing that now :), I kept noticing something that normally would have completely THROWN me even just a few years ago.  The things I am doing to my home is costing me thousands and thousands … (17 comments)

feng shui consultant: I'm in a NEW YORK State of Mind.... - 09/10/07 11:02 AM
September 11th, 2001.  A day that truly changed all of us, forever.  With the unspeakable acts that happened that day and the loss of life, I hope everyone is grateful for every single thing in their lives.  Yes, even the "problems."  How sad that our children are growing up during a time when there is war, terror alerts, threats.  When most of us were children we didn't hear about any of this.  We grew up in a carefree way but things have been forever changed.
In this beautiful City that I love so much, I too watched as the bravest were running … (13 comments)

feng shui consultant: "CLUTTERBUGS" -- A Feng Shui Perspective on HOW to Lighten Up and WHY... - 09/08/07 03:38 PM
While I have touched on the subject of CLUTTER in many of my posts, this one is devoted strictly to the subject.  In reading so much about it the last few days and especially Jo-Anne Smith's heartfelt post: Mr. Tumnus and His Cave.   I want to address some specific issues that many clients have.
By the definition Feng Shui Consultants typically use, CLUTTER is something you DON'T NEED, USE OR LOVE.  Jo loves everythingand I can see why!  Why is clutter the number one principle in Feng Shui?  After all, being surrounded by precious things gives us comfort.  But when we already … (21 comments)

feng shui consultant: A Quiet Day for Reflection---And Some Insights - 09/07/07 01:10 PM
As the work progresses on my home, I needed a quiet day to plan my next course of action in getting things DONE and over.  I have to say that the people who are cleaning the basement have been wonderful.  Her name is Carol as well and she's either here every morning or makes it a point to call to advise me about the next steps.  And it's truly wonderful of her to keep me informed as she does.
The weather was picture perfect again.  And I have been in this house far too much, especially for me!  If I wasn't … (17 comments)

feng shui consultant: The Time Machine, Part Two---And the Gravedigger who worked there - 09/01/07 02:57 PM
Since I had so many pictures and a separate story, I broke this post up into two parts.  If you missed my last post, this is a visit to a wonderful place on Long Island that is from the 19th Century, the Old Bethpage Village Restoration located in the town of Oyster Bay, New York.  My daughter and I went for an hour and stayed for a day.  Part of that day was spent with a very interesting person who allowed me to shoot his picture and tell his story; he is the Gravedigger in the Cemetery, our last stop.  Here … (16 comments)

feng shui consultant: Your Feng Shui Post on "Helpful People" --- And my lovely new client in Lindenhurst, Long Island - 07/06/07 01:45 PM
A few of you have requested a blog about my favorite area of the Bagua called "Helpful People."  Having been in Lindenhurst, Long Island today for a consultation with a wonderful client, I was giving her the information about this area and why I believe it "kick starts" the process of Feng Shui in many cases.
A little aside note about this consultation and why I now have a new "Helpful person" as well.  She is going through a difficult time and had interviewed three consultants (always a good idea to speak to more than one) and had felt a connection … (17 comments)

feng shui consultant: "Should I Buy this House?" New Hyde Park, Long Island-- Questions a Feng Shui Consultant gets ALL the Time...And some difficult decisions - 06/20/07 11:05 AM
I receive many emails from people asking questions and am happy to answer them.  Last night I received an email from someone I do not know, inquiring about the purchase of a home in New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York.  He has been reading about Feng Shui and believes very much in Vastu, the Indian equivalent to Feng Shui and was worried about the home, although he had submitted an offer on it.
The property of the home is not "squared" off, rather it is in a triangle shape.  Meaning, to many consultants, that it would "cut out" both his … (12 comments)

feng shui consultant: A TREASURE found on Long Island---The "Gold Coast" of Oyster Bay - 06/17/07 03:18 PM
After having been on a few Feng Shui consultations recently on the North Shore of Long Island (which I now LOVE!), I wasn't surprised to hear from a client in Laurel Hollow in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. She had recently began working with Reiki and was working very much with Energy.  She is the owner of a lovely place she conceived of and opened three years ago and they were already preparing to move to a larger space; prior to the move she was having a difficult time figuring out her furniture placement and working with Feng Shui which … (9 comments)

feng shui consultant: Freeport's Nautical Mile -- A GREAT place to visit on Long Island, New York by Feng Shui Long Island - 05/30/07 03:16 PM
It was beautiful out today.  And I had the day to get out and have some fun (finally!).  A choice to clean the house, try and fix the garden or just go out and play.  You have to know #3 won hands down but I needed the down time.
I went to Freeport in Long Island, New York.  Spring and Summer are really the only time to go there and it's lovely, like a little seaside tourist town.  A few fun facts about the Freeport Nautical Mile:  It was originally a stars and artists colony and many of the streets are named … (2 comments)

feng shui consultant: A Memorial Day in Pictures: Lovely Long Island, New York, Part 2 Air Show: Feng Shui, Farmingdale - 05/26/07 11:57 PM
Yesterday I began a blog to show you all the lovely sights I was able to capture on a particularly pleasant day spent in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York at the annual Tribute to Veteran's at Republic Air Force Base.  There was a spectacular show which went to Jones Beach and back and an incredible display of all things from the wars to honor our Veteran's.
It was a picture perfect day for some of the stunts, taking to so many of the former Veteran's who attended and seeing this incredible exhibition.  Here are the rest of the pictures from yesterday, a … (4 comments)

feng shui consultant: A Memorial Day Air Show In Pictures: An Amazing Show on Long Island, New York//Part 1 - 05/26/07 11:13 AM
It was a picture perfect day today and one of the days I always set aside to go to our Memorial Day Show, complete with old aircraft, a wonderful exhibition of what it was like during the War.  If you're not familiar with Long Island, New York, it was the "headquarters" for building planes.  In Farmingdale, my own town, there was (and still is) Republic Air Force base and in Bethpage, Long Island, it was/is Grummans.  It is difficult to remember back to those days where you rarely met anyone not working in one of the two places!
Ah, the good old days!  … (1 comments)

feng shui consultant: A NIGHTMARE Home to Some? She's going to LOVE it when it's finished. - 05/12/07 03:19 PM
I had a recent contact from someone in Parsippany, New Jersey.  I was a bit surprised because I primarily target the New York City and Long Island area and explained that I don't travel to New Jersey.  This lovely person was a referral and had heard about me; while speaking to her and hearing what she'd gone through in her home, I finally relented and agreed to go.
I couldn't have asked to meet a more lovely person who had been beset by problems since she moved into this house.  She is an accomplished designer, a genuine person---and a first time homeowner.  … (1 comments)

feng shui consultant: Feng Shui 101---Let's start at the beginning! The basics of Feng Shui - 05/02/07 05:17 PM

It finally struck me that THIS should have been my very first Blog.  I receive an ever increasing number of emails about Feng Shui, I don't think I ever provided the basics for anyone!   While many of you on here know what Feng Shui is (and isn't), I have found there are at least as many misconceptions of it, what it is and why we do it. Not to mention why you would find a Feng Shui Consultant on a site for Real Estate!  We are in homes all the time.  I get an ever increasing number of personal emails with questions and thought … (12 comments)

feng shui consultant: Central Park and New York City.....Beautiful Every Time! - 04/28/07 11:02 PM
I swore I was going back to the City today with the weather predicted to be 72 and sunny but think I need to spend a day home.  I wanted to go to the Village today (with Soho thrown in :) but it might have to wait.  I did have the opportunity to go last Sunday, there wasn't a cloud in the sky (literally) and so many people out it felt like Christmas time.
I walked up to the park as usual from Penn Station and got so caught up in looking up, I forgot in Manhattan you have to remember … (6 comments)
