feng shui: A Feng Shui Haunting in Beautiful Huntington, Long Island? Or Something ELSE? - 07/10/07 12:46 PM
All of my posts are about actual events with my clients.  This one is difficult to tell; it is long and it was a powerful lesson to me of something I had never seen or heard of before.
I have been thinking recently and reading  A New Blog: Haunted Real Estate   a post by Mary Pope_Handy       and have visited her website many times in the past http://www.hauntedhouses.com/ when I was researching something or trying to find information about a particular type of haunting.  I didn't know it was hers until recently and didn't know she was on Activerain.
I did a Feng Shui consultation last … (14 comments)

feng shui: Things I WISH I had always Known: The Article that made a Difference - 07/09/07 03:03 PM
I wrote a post not long ago about the value of writing articles and suggested a few sites if you wanted to try to submit them to; they will review them and then publish them online.  On the advice of my webmaster to pull my site up higher, I did start to write but I don't consider myself by any stretch of the imagination A "WRITER."  I have so far about 45 articles that I have written, some good, some not what I would have written now, but they are still "out there."  I DID notice that I started to get calls … (14 comments)

feng shui: A Feng Shui TEST: Can you help this place in Dix Hills, Long Island?? - 07/07/07 03:57 PM
To my fellow Activerainers, a true Feng Shui Test for you.  These are real pictures of a place requesting Feng Shui Help in Dix Hills, Long Island. I would love to hear some comments on what YOU would do to this space either in Feng Shui, Decorating or both.
Here's the background and then some pictures:  This is a non-profit, high functioning adult residence home located in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York.  I was emailed several months ago for help but after completing the project last year I felt I couldn't take it on.  This place is unable to keep staff, I was … (15 comments)

feng shui: Your Feng Shui Post on "Helpful People" --- And my lovely new client in Lindenhurst, Long Island - 07/06/07 01:45 PM
A few of you have requested a blog about my favorite area of the Bagua called "Helpful People."  Having been in Lindenhurst, Long Island today for a consultation with a wonderful client, I was giving her the information about this area and why I believe it "kick starts" the process of Feng Shui in many cases.
A little aside note about this consultation and why I now have a new "Helpful person" as well.  She is going through a difficult time and had interviewed three consultants (always a good idea to speak to more than one) and had felt a connection … (17 comments)

feng shui: Spectacular FIRE ISLAND, Long Island, New York: I believe they've already used Feng Shui Here! - 07/04/07 02:37 PM
Ah, back to my regularly scheduled posts!  Phyllis mentioned in a comment that I have been to many places this year and gotten to see many things and she's right, I have been SO fortunate to get called for Feng Shui Consultations from from all over.  Now I'm traveling by Ferry and it was a first :)  This post is more about pictures because you have to SEE Fire Island to believe it but it is an incredible place.
Fire Island is divided into different areas.  And there are NO CARS ALLOWED!  Two of the areas I visited recently were Ocean Beach (the unofficial … (18 comments)

feng shui: What's in YOUR Yard? Have your Checked your Feng Shui Lately? Feng Shui in Huntington, Long Island - 06/30/07 08:20 AM
It's interesting to me that when client's think about the Feng Shui in their "Space," too often they forget about the outside and it's relationship to the things that are going on in their lives.  They immediately think about furniture placement, perhaps colors and other things indoors they may have heard or read about but rarely access their yards.  I was reminded of this during a recent Feng Shui Consultation in Huntington, Long Island, New York.
A quick word about Huntington in Long Island.  It's a wonderful little town that is considered both quaint and progressive at the same time.  It is home … (7 comments)

feng shui: There's nothing Nicer then these Emails: In Feng Shui AND REAL ESTATE! - 06/28/07 06:40 PM
There IS nothing nicer then getting a call or email from anyone you are working with to thank you and let you know that what you did helped them.  It's even nicer when it's from an Activerain Realtorwho had found me and contacted me about Feng Shui.  I am not going to reveal who this person is, that would be entirely up to them but I did get a contact from Activerain from someone who had stumbled on one of my posts on Feng Shui and we spoke on the phone.
She had already taken Suzee Miller's online course on Feng Shui … (9 comments)

feng shui: Feng Shui in Riverhead, Long Island, New York---A Makeover by Feng Shui Long Island - 06/27/07 05:41 PM
One of my favorite things to get calls for in Feng Shui are for Renovations.  I love consulting on the Colors, Decorating, new furniture additions and the placement of it and I love to watch it as it comes "alive."  I have found myself out east on Long Island, New York lately (in Laurie Mindnich's neck of the woods:) and after consulting on this client's home, was called for her and her husband's new business, to be opening soon.
I had mentioned in a previous post about a client I have done recently and her business is called YOGA ROCKS and kept thinking … (14 comments)

feng shui: Following Your Own Journey: Reflections of a Dream Realized in Feng Shui - 06/21/07 03:35 PM
I received a call tonight from an old friend who now lives in Syosset.  A friend from Junior High School, we had spent all of our High School years together and I recalled a wonderful post I had just read by Jo-Anne Smith Who Are The 'Forever' People in Your Life?   Although I did not know it at the time, Donna was to become one of my few treasured "Forever People."  She called because she had just dressed and sent her daughter off to her Prom which made her nostalgic; she said she was thinking of US and the prom we … (6 comments)

feng shui: A Peek inside a Monastery: A respectful way of life in Old Westbury, Long Island, New York by Feng Shui Long Island - 06/12/07 04:02 PM
It occurred to me that most of you, the majority in fact, would most likely never see the inside of a beautiful place; a Monastery.  A Monastery is defined as " a place of residence occupied by a community of persons, especially Monks living in seclusion under Religious Vows."  When Professor Lin Yun arrived her in the early 1980's, he decided to open a Monastery.  His original one is located in Berkely, California and his second one is right here on Long Island, in Old Westbury (The Gold Coast).
Most of the monks that live at the Monastery take care of … (7 comments)

feng shui: A New York City Apartment---Feng Shui Style - 06/11/07 01:05 PM
It is unusual for me to be called for a Feng Shui Consultation when the occupants AREN'T having some issues or life changing events.  Sometimes they feel the "energy" is just off in their space, sometimes it is for health issure or relationship problems or career changes and they've heard or read about Feng Shui (or lately, The Secret) which has touched off a ripple effect in the way people are now reacting to the principles of Feng Shui.  They are the same with additional principles of how their home or office surroundings may be affecting them in some way.
I was … (9 comments)

feng shui: Jones Beach, Long Island, New York---Nothing like it in the World! - 06/10/07 02:42 AM
I grew up at Jones Beach.  We lived in Wantagh, Long Island (my mother still lives there) and the sign by our house calls it The Gateway to Jones Beach.  I had some time the other day and it was beautiful and sunny out--a perfect day for the beach (or so I thought).  I headed out with my daughter for our first trip this year and the drive alone is lovely.  When you get close to the water and can see and smell the salt air it feels so different from only a 15 minute drive away!
For some reason the beach … (7 comments)

feng shui: What's in the HEART of Your Home? UPDATED! A Feng Shui Home in Pictures..... - 06/07/07 10:52 PM
I wanted to show some pictures of an absolutely beautiful home I consulted on the other day.  The woman contacted me through a series of events:  She had recently watched "The Secret" and saw a Feng Shui consultant on there and was very in tune with the principles of the entire show.  That same week she went to her beauty salon and knew it was in a new location.  She loved the look of the salon and heard that it had been used with Feng Shui principles.  Unable to locate the owners to find out who had done it, she did … (37 comments)

feng shui: Do you THINK you can or do you KNOW you can? Does it matter?? - 06/06/07 03:24 PM

I think I can, I think I can....I KNOW I can, I KNOW I can.  Remember that story?  About the little RED train trying SO hard to get up the mountain.  And spouting positive thoughts no matter how hard it was, even while it was trying to plug along.  I used to read that to my children, it inspired me and I figured that once they understood it, it would inspire them as well.  And more then that, EMPOWER them.  I notice a similarity going on at times in my own life.  I come across something that perhaps is a big challenge … (3 comments)

feng shui: How many Homes do you REMEMBER? A common thread for Activerainers Feng Shui Long Island - 06/05/07 12:17 PM
I received a call today which got me thinking.  There is a common thread between all people on Activerain and that is the obvious; we are in and out of people's homes.  Over and over again, year after year.  The call was from a client I had done last summer and he didn't remember or have in his notes the color I had suggested for the office he was going to convert from a bedroom that was no longer needed.
I wondered how I could possibly remember that and stopped and thought.  When I am in homes, I study them.  For different … (9 comments)

feng shui: Where are the HORSES? Long Island's old Charms Feng Shui in Bellmore, Long Island - 06/03/07 01:46 PM
Growing up on Long Island, one of my favorite things to do on a weekend was going to the Flea Market.  Roosevelt Field in Westbury, Long Island was there for many years (prior to that it was for Horse Racing!), then used for a time for Concerts---of which I went to also.  The place was so big and while some of the vendors were there every week, the others changed often so you never knew what bargain you were going to find.
I miss it, it long ago moved away and what they call Flea Markets now are really inside malls with … (4 comments)

feng shui: Are you creating Synchronicity in YOUR life? - 06/02/07 03:24 PM
I don't believe in just luck but I DO believe in synchronicity....things fall into place, everything works out the way it should and keeps on going.  I am fortunate enough to be in that right now.  In part of post I had up recently, it was mentioned that on my "accomplishment wall" was a picture of Paris.  I've never been there and have been wanting to go for more years then I can remember.  And it was "never the time," there was always something in the way.
I booked that trip scheduled for August less then a week and a half ago.  Finally!  … (9 comments)

feng shui: What kind of Day do YOU want today? I'll take great, please..... - 06/01/07 10:37 PM
Are we rushing too much?  Or is it just a bad attitude? Some things I don't understand and never will.  I have lived in this town for 30 years, shop and the same places, see the same people and no one greets me.  A simple "Hi, how are you today" would be such a nice thing to hear.  It's not just on occasion that they might be having a bad day, it's NEVER.  I don't know if they're unhappy with their jobs, having problems at home or just rushing too much but it seems to me to be more negativity then anything.
A … (14 comments)

feng shui: Everyone's Favorite Subject: Money -- Or Moving Money IN with Feng Shui - 05/31/07 12:00 AM
I didn't know if it was time for another Feng Shui "Tip" or not on how to increase your Wealth. Since I was trying to take this in steps so that YOUcould see the difference, I don't know if enough people read my last post for Feng Shui Money and if they've covered their bills.
I decided to post this one anyway but it would be helpful for me, for those that have an interest in Feng Shui to know HOW things are going.  Did it work, are your bills covered?  Did you miss the post?  I know many have a … (7 comments)

feng shui: Freeport's Nautical Mile -- A GREAT place to visit on Long Island, New York by Feng Shui Long Island - 05/30/07 03:16 PM
It was beautiful out today.  And I had the day to get out and have some fun (finally!).  A choice to clean the house, try and fix the garden or just go out and play.  You have to know #3 won hands down but I needed the down time.
I went to Freeport in Long Island, New York.  Spring and Summer are really the only time to go there and it's lovely, like a little seaside tourist town.  A few fun facts about the Freeport Nautical Mile:  It was originally a stars and artists colony and many of the streets are named … (2 comments)
