home staging: Does Everything Have To Be Symmetrical When Decorating Your Home With Feng Shui?
- 10/24/15 03:17 AM
There is a reason for every suggestion in Feng Shui, it's not just to be trendy and start a new fad. So why is symmetry often recommended when arranging your home or office? The core Feng Shui principles pull from Taoism and Yin and Yang. Both underline the importance of balance in life and with Feng Shui that is translated through the presentation of your space. Being mindful of the basic artistic foundations of composition. Having too much symmetry could create a stagnant feeling emotionally, visually and energetically. Combining both perspectives together, you can negotiate the space in the sense of where to have more symmetrical decor arrangements to more rhythmic displays.

home staging: Home Staging is All About Balance
- 07/16/14 03:12 PM
Suzanne makes a good point about having balance in design and staging of a home. Feng Shui practice dictates that art of placement is about balance and energy flow and each position carries significance with how our lives might be impacted in subtle ways. Thanks, Suzanne! Love and light, Laura Home Staging is All About Balance Being a Montgomery county PA home stager has its challenges. We're faced with the tough job of telling home owners that they need to change the home they've been living in for the past 10 or 15 years. All personal choices like paint colors, (2 comments)
Today I had the pleasure of providing a 1 hour lecture for Real Estate agents and Brokers at an Open House in Long Island NY. During out time together some really interesting topics came to light and one in particular caught my attention. It had to deal with the topic of home owners saying they want to sell yet their actions speak otherwise. This home is located in a beautiful gated community and is staged to perfection. The history is amazing and has set the energy path for success and prosperity in all realms of life. Yet, this home (48 comments)
home staging: Home Staging with a TOUCH of Feng Shui
- 11/09/08 12:16 PM
Home Staging with a Touch of Feng Shui We ALL know that Home Staging and Redesign help enormously to get a home sold....FAST. Others wonder sometimes if Feng Shui also helps a home sell faster-and at a better asking price. After 12 years experience, I can honestly say it does. Combing BOTH Home Staging AND Feng Shui create a space clients will fall in LOVE with. We ALL seek to create the same thing, a home that just FEELS good and looks beautiful. Clients will walk in and often see and feel a difference then they have in the other homes (55 comments)
home staging: An OPEN Blog to All Home Stagers: What would YOU like to see added??
- 05/27/07 05:04 PM
I thought I would direct this post directly to the Home Stagers to see if you have opinions, comments or suggestions on exactly what YOU would like to see represented to Real Estate Agents during a Presentation. Yes, I know, I primarily speak of Feng Shui. But for years I have been speaking to Realtors about the advantages of Staging because they are so closely related and I feel they work hand in hand. Since I have two speaking engagements coming up and I'm trying to put them together, now's the time to tell me. Am I leaving out things you (5 comments)
home staging: Did you Choose your Profession? Or did IT choose YOU?? How many of you can say you LOVE what you Do?
- 05/21/07 02:04 PM
Many of us I believe from reading the wonderful MEME'sthat are posted have had many career changes during their lifetimes. While some have had more then others, being on the Activerain Community has made me wonder if you truly LOVED the work you are doing now? It is something you fell into or is it something, perhaps without reason, that you felt DRAWN to and decided to pursue? Despite the difficulties you have encountered (or are Still encountering), you know and feel THIS is what you were meant to do? Or is it a "stepping stone" to something that moves you closer (25 comments)
home staging: Some people just Get It---What would you change in this house, if anything? Feng Shui in Centerport, Long Island
- 05/15/07 01:49 PM
Most of the clients I receive calls from have read a book (or two, or three) about Feng Shui. They call either because the books confused them so much or some scare them so badly they are afraid to touch a thing. No doubt there are many books out there that use scare tactics and to me, that's a shame. Feng Shui is meant to make you feel better in your surroundings. If you change something around and it just doesn't "feel right," change it back; believe me, nothing disastrous is going to happen to you! And only YOU and other (21 comments)
home staging: Getting PERSONAL with your Clients
- 04/03/07 02:04 PM
I am in the "People" business. Yes, I deal with homes and businesses all the time but it didn't take me long to learn it's more about the people. How personal do you get with a client? While putting on our "professional" best, is it ok to let them see another side of you? I will relate somewhat personal stories to clients if I have something to share. It creates a bond---and a lasting memory of you. A recent example of this was at a clients home when they were deciding whether or not to list with an Agency or try to sell the house themselves. home staging: Home Stagers---Are you thinking LARGE enough?
- 04/01/07 07:35 AM
Years ago in Feng Shui, I remember feeling thrilled if I were called in to do two or three homes in a month...it was unheard of! No one imagined, back then, the impact it would take on. In thinking of the aspects of Home Staging and seeing so many of the beautiful websites you have with terrific Before and After pictures, I wondered if you were thinking LARGE enough? I don't recall seeing on the sites anything about DESIGN SERVICES for Businesses. I know you're not Interior Designers but many businesses and even Corporations may not be looking for that. Just someone (7 comments)
home staging: Giving Back? Or Getting Back? It was supposed to be a "Flop"
- 03/14/07 03:58 PM
That's what they told me; my own Guild. Trying to do a project on the scale has never been done before by ANY members of the Guild. And if the project "flops" (their word, not mine), it will look like the Guild flopped. I almost dropped the idea---almost. Until my son stopped in one night when I had just gotten the letter discouraging me. "Don't worry about it, we'll do it." Right. This is the kid who can't be bothered taking out the garbage. But he didn't forget and I finally found a place that I wanted to go see. With an (6 comments)
home staging: The Secret, Part Two---Yes, there are other "Secrets"
- 03/09/07 11:27 AM
Having watched Larry King last night, it was interesting to hear the critics of "The Secret," the motivational DVD of the century. Don't rely on it, you were warned. Many of us have for years and found out, it WORKS. There are so many misconceptions about Feng Shui (and we work using the "secrets,") I thought I'd try to clear some up. What does the secret teach you? That you can have a life of prosperity and abundance in all areas, by setting Intentions, sending out good Energy and believing that it works. You must take actions as well (37 comments)
home staging: Hi All!
- 03/06/07 02:41 AM
Thank you, Val, for getting me back into this site! If I could figure out how to invite people (or accept them for that matter!) I would use it more often. I'm afraid to asked what I missed, though I see the site has grown SO much! How wonderful that is. I believe finally Realtors are becoming more open to both Feng Shui (Thank goodness for The Secret :)! AND Home Staging which is so necessary in this market. Feng Shui hit the West Coast more then 10 years ago but it took awhile for everyone to realize that it just wasn't (2 comments)
home staging: Home Staging with Feng Shui and Style
- 10/26/06 12:16 PM
Hi! I have found that many Feng Shui Principles are used in Home Staging and things Feng Shui Consultants have been doing for years with the "buzz" words of Home Staging, Home Redesign and Curb Appeal. One example is Home Stagers will open the blinds for a light and airy feeling. We see it as letting the "outside energy" in. Or clearing a path to the front door and making sure the door is well groomed. In Feng Shui, the front door is the "Mouth of Chi" and the pathway to it and the entranceway are always addressed. We re-arrange the furniture (5 comments)
