long island new york: Best Eats On Long Island NY: Maureen's Kitchen in Smithtown New York - 08/08/17 02:09 PM
This is one place on Long Island New York you NEED to stop at and grab a bite to eat. It's called, Maureen's Kitchen and it's AMAZING!! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. My fiance and I decided to go on a Monday, thinking there would be less of a crowd. Turns out, not matter what day of the week or time you go, its always busy. So do be prepared to wait if you are with a big group, but I promise its worth it! On the discussion of time, Maureen's Kichten has a short … (4 comments)

long island new york: The Summer Sizzles With Activities in Long Island New York - 07/12/16 11:54 AM
The weather in Long Ilsand, NY has become a bit unpredictable, which is not a bad thing. Spring is very short lived, allowing Winter to leap frog directly into Summer. The positive to that, is now we have an even longer Summer season. Usually, in the evening the hot temps of the summer day tend to chill out around the low 70's and even sometimes 60's.

This means earlier visits to the beach, parks, outdoor festivals, hiking, kayaking, boating, fishing, swimming, surfing, great eats, free concerts and much more!

For those intrested in living on Long Island, NY, Farmingdale is a great option. The types … (6 comments)

long island new york: This Wednesday Mr. Trump Comes To Bethpage NY - Don't Be Pulled Into The Hype - 04/05/16 11:57 PM
It's rare that I write posts about politics because it really does not contribute to anything positive unless the News is positive. This type of reporting tends to just stir up more anxiety, worry, confusion and anger in the collective consciousness of this world.

Many Long Islanders know the rally for Mr. Trump will be taking place at the Bethpage Grumman Studios at 7pm tonight April 6th, 2016. Unfortunately, his rallies of past have developed the reputation of creating unpredictable situations and at times ones that could become violent physically and emotionally.
It's great to voice your opinion and express yourself, yet if … (10 comments)

long island new york: What does your Name say about you? Part 2 by Feng Shui LI - 08/22/12 09:41 PM
What does your Name say about you? Part 2 by Feng Shui LI

Laurel Tree
Yesterday I did a post about the power of names and their meaning.  After posting about my biological name "Silvia" I received some comments about wanting to know the meaning behind "Laura."
so here is the meaning.....
"Feminine form of the Late Latin name Laurus, which meant "laurel". This meaning was favorable, since in ancient Rome the leaves of laurel trees were used to create victors' garlands."
For those who recall, the name "Silvia," also from Rome translated to "woodland" or "belonging to the woods." … (3 comments)

Growing up Levittown New York...The Way it Was on Long island
I wondered how to write this post and figured I'd sit down and let it write itself.  It's hard to describe my childhood or what it was like to grow up in the famous (or infamous) Town of Levittown, Long Island NY.  It was, in a word Magical.  And it was sad that none of us really realized we had the "perfect" childhoods.
Maybe I can't describe it....Maybe I can SHOW you!
I can't speak for everyone of course but I have met and reconnected with SO many friends from … (26 comments)

Feng Shui Long Island in Bethpage New York-The Seeds we Sow
I awoke this morning to a phone call.  The woman on the other end announced that she was calling from The Bethpage Public Library on Long Island New York.  I was a bit groggy and even more surprised.  Bethpage is NOT my library-I couldn't recall being there and didn't know what she would be calling about.
"It's in response to your letter" she said when I finally asked why she was calling.  Letter...LETTER?  I didn't remember a letter and I didn't know HOW to respond.

"It's dated February 11th" … (21 comments)

long island new york: What are "THEY" Taking Away from YOU?? - 10/19/08 12:54 PM
Lovely Long Island New York-What are "THEY" taking away from YOU?
As much as I love New York City and all it has to offer, I was always glad that I lived in the Suburbs.  The relative quiet, the beautiful open places and peacefulness used to surround us everywhere on Long Island.  Let's not forget Jones Beach-one of the biggest and most beautiful beaches in the world.
Long Island is known for many things including the development that is going on in nearly every single part of it.  We are now, in most parts, overbuilt and overcrowded.  The wide open spaces … (28 comments)
