Explore your local communities and cities, take a closer look to what surrounds you everyday.  This is a sculpture that Feng Shui NY consultant Laura Cerrano came across while on her way to a consultation.  Can you guess where this sculpture resides in New York City? Obviously it's a sculpture, so can you guess who the artist or artisits are?

Central Park New York City by Feng Shui Long Island & New York
After a recent Feng Shui Consultation in New York City recently, I headed up to Central Park.  I lucked out with a beautiful, warm day and while I should be used to seeing these horses, I still have mixed feelings about them.
New York City is legendary for their Carriage Rides through Central Park.  And years ago I'd taken my children on one; I hadn't looked closely at the Horse at the time and he fell ill during the ride.  I hated seeing the horse in such distress … (24 comments)

September 11th 2001  --  The Day the World Stood Still
I don't revisit Ground Zero-It is too difficult for me and too sad.  One devastating day that changed ourselves and our world forever.

These pictures are from last year and show Downtown Manhattan and some photos of St. Paul's Church which is located on Broadway, directly across from Ground Zero.  It is nothing short of a miracle that this church remains and is said to have been protected by a huge Sycamore tree that sheltered it from the falling debri.

New York City--Central Park--STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
A Tribute to John Lennon:
December 8th, 1980.  It seems like so LONG ago.  I had just lost my father and was up at night unable to sleep.  The tv was on but I don't remember watching it-just a news flash and I couldn't comprehend it.  I knew they said John Lennon was shot but didn't know whether they said he was alive or not.
It was one of those indefinable moments that changes you somehow-by a person you have never met but has had such a profound effect on you.  Of course I remembered … (39 comments)

new york city: One of the Saddest Days of the Year in Manhattan & Around the World by Feng Shui Long Island - 09/10/08 02:29 PM
This is the one day out of the entire year that is the most difficult for me.  Living in New York and loving New York City I am, as SO many others still devastated by the losses of 9/11/2001.  Loss of life, of course--many, many wonderful lives and a feeling of loss of Freedom.  Since that day when traveling to New York City for a Feng Shui Consultation you can see all the uniforms at Penn Station which is somehow a sight I never get used to.
There are cutbacks now as well on our Security but I have always wondered … (17 comments)

new york city: FUN Feng Shui in New York City: What ELSE does a Feng Shui Consultant do? - 07/11/07 03:44 PM
You all know by now I love my "job" AND I love New York City.  Perfect combination for me!  Coming out of a consultation one day on the Upper East Side, I decided to walk back to Penn Station for my train home and thought of getting a "dirty dog" along the way  --  Hot Dogs from the carts in New York are called Dirty Dogs, I believe because the water they are in gets so dirty :)  But then you never know what you're going to run into.  I didn't get home until the evening because as I was walking, … (18 comments)

new york city: What's in YOUR Yard? Have your Checked your Feng Shui Lately? Feng Shui in Huntington, Long Island - 06/30/07 08:20 AM
It's interesting to me that when client's think about the Feng Shui in their "Space," too often they forget about the outside and it's relationship to the things that are going on in their lives.  They immediately think about furniture placement, perhaps colors and other things indoors they may have heard or read about but rarely access their yards.  I was reminded of this during a recent Feng Shui Consultation in Huntington, Long Island, New York.
A quick word about Huntington in Long Island.  It's a wonderful little town that is considered both quaint and progressive at the same time.  It is home … (7 comments)

new york city: A New York City Apartment---Feng Shui Style - 06/11/07 01:05 PM
It is unusual for me to be called for a Feng Shui Consultation when the occupants AREN'T having some issues or life changing events.  Sometimes they feel the "energy" is just off in their space, sometimes it is for health issure or relationship problems or career changes and they've heard or read about Feng Shui (or lately, The Secret) which has touched off a ripple effect in the way people are now reacting to the principles of Feng Shui.  They are the same with additional principles of how their home or office surroundings may be affecting them in some way.

new york city: Are you creating Synchronicity in YOUR life? - 06/02/07 03:24 PM
I don't believe in just luck but I DO believe in synchronicity....things fall into place, everything works out the way it should and keeps on going.  I am fortunate enough to be in that right now.  In part of post I had up recently, it was mentioned that on my "accomplishment wall" was a picture of Paris.  I've never been there and have been wanting to go for more years then I can remember.  And it was "never the time," there was always something in the way.
I booked that trip scheduled for August less then a week and a half ago.  Finally!  … (9 comments)

new york city: Using Your Creative Side --- Let your Clients see it! - 06/01/07 03:49 AM
We ALL have something that makes us unique and stand out.  And often we fail to recognize what that particular talent or creativity IS.  It's something that's just part of us and we don't even see it anymore.  But a potential client can often pick it up and it may just be what attracts them to you for your services.
I had an opportunity yesterday to revisit a place I had gone to as a consultant but this time from a visitor's point of view.  It is a clothing manufacturer located right in my hometown of Farmingdale, Long Island but you … (4 comments)

new york city: Some of the Different Schools of Feng Shui -- And why you're so Confused!! By Feng Shui Long Island - 05/19/07 04:24 PM
Using Feng Shui can seem daunting.  If you read one book, you might understand it; read another and you'll start getting confused.  The harder you try to learn, the many different schools of thought you come against until you get lost.  Here are some of the different forms and schools of Feng Shui and why they're all SO different:
There are no early books on the subject because it wasn't permitted to be written. It was considered Sacred Information only to be passed down from Mentor to Student.  We estimate it's origins to be between 3 to 5,000 years old.  While it's … (16 comments)

new york city: Central Park and New York City.....Beautiful Every Time! - 04/28/07 11:02 PM
I swore I was going back to the City today with the weather predicted to be 72 and sunny but think I need to spend a day home.  I wanted to go to the Village today (with Soho thrown in :) but it might have to wait.  I did have the opportunity to go last Sunday, there wasn't a cloud in the sky (literally) and so many people out it felt like Christmas time.
I walked up to the park as usual from Penn Station and got so caught up in looking up, I forgot in Manhattan you have to remember … (6 comments)
