rogue valley: No SPAM On Our Table Tonight! - 07/17/09 11:34 AM
Having been exposed to a slew of spam on Active Rain this week, it made me think about ways to cut down our exposure to irritating stuff like this. Do you know how irritating it is to open up your iPhone to find that important notification that your final loan docs are on their way or your buyer's offer was accepted and find 74 spam e-mails? Not all of them Active Rain, of course, but it is really annoying and boy did I appreciate Bob Stewart's solution on how to limit this exposure!

rogue valley: “Doesn’t Play Nice In Sandbox”…Is This How You Wish To Be Described? - 07/13/09 06:17 AM

Posting on Active Rain for almost 2 years now, there have been times when I've come across the occasional post and/or comments that make me think "gee...this person sure didn't learn how to play well with others". It reminds me that Active Rain has been an incredible way to discover more about the people posting there, their levels of experience, their business philosophy, and their personality. I don't know about you, but knowing this information plays an important part in my business relationships. I don't care how much experience you have, if you don't play nice, stay out of … (62 comments)

rogue valley: A Fiery Night In The Rogue Valley - 07/09/09 04:43 AM
With so many wonderful things to do here in Southern Oregon in the summer time, sometimes our biggest hurdle is deciding which great place we want to go to. Holding season tickets to Camelot Theatre in Talent, Oregon helped us narrow the decision making process down a bit since we had booked seats to see "Cabaret" that night. Having had a late lunch, these very early risers wanting to stay awake for the performance figured a light dining experience was in order. This narrowed us down to two choices, both in Downtown Medford - Cork's or Elements? That's a hard choice … (2 comments)

rogue valley: Southern Oregon Buyers and Realtors –Have You Heard Of The Neighborhood Stabilization Program? - 06/12/09 10:47 AM
It sure has been a busy week this week, with the many first time home buyers taking advantage of the programs that are out there for them. Here are details on one of them:

Neighborhood Stabilization Program: Eligible Buyers earning up to 120% of HUD median income, purchasing a home in a Neighborhood Stabilization eligible area, purchasing a home that has been foreclosed upon (bank owned, can be a private party foreclosure; no "flippers") may receive a "silent second" with zero interest of up to $50,000 that may be used to match down payment funds, pay closing costs/prepaid expense and … (0 comments)

rogue valley: Who Is Krista Bolf? - 06/08/09 03:01 PM
Although Krista Bolf, principal broker at Coldwell Banker ProWest in Ashland Oregon has an impressive list of credentials that go with her, it is the person behind the résumé that impresses me the most. Having seen Krista Bolf be presented with the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors 2009 Realtor of the Year award, I realized that as much as I believe she is the perfect recipient of this prestigious award, there is so much more to her.
Having had the pleasure of working on several transactions with Krista since we first met while working together on a Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity … (0 comments)

rogue valley: Beware, Oregon Contractors - Scammers are Targeting you! - 05/14/09 11:02 AM
The Oregon Remodelers Association recently contacted our local HomeBuilders Association of Jackson County to let them know there are scammers afoot, contacting Oregon Contractors with the following:
"We have received information from the CCB and the Oregon Dept. of Justice regarding a possible scam directed at contractors in which a caller represents to Oregon contractors and firms that those firms have been pre-qualified to receive federal stimulus moneys if the firms will fork over to the caller a significant sum of money.  The caller even represents that the target contractor is eligible to receive a specified amount of the federal money … (5 comments)

rogue valley: A Mother’s Day To Remember - 05/13/09 01:10 AM
I am so grateful about so many things in my life, but it is on a day like Mother's Day that it comes to the fore how much joy a child can bring. My husband was at a Home Show in Yreka CA near the majestic Mount Shasta on Mother's Day, so I spent some time deliberating over what I could do with our daughter who still lives at home to make Mother's Day special with just the two of us. Should we hang around the house and play Wii? Putter around the garden? Nah...when I have some time, I like … (2 comments)

rogue valley: It's That Time Again! Medford Oregon's 2009 Pear Blossom Parade Is This Saturday April 11th - 04/09/09 04:21 PM
Here comes one of our favorite local Springtime events here in the Rogue Valley! It's Pear Blossom Parade and Run time! Time to park the car and hike the few blocks over to our favorite spot on Central Avenue to see the parade, than walk over to Alba Park to see what we can find at the booths at the street fair. It's a great way to run in to familiar faces and have a fun time. And this year, we get to just enjoy it, not having the drop off and pickup duties we've had in years past with children in the … (5 comments)

rogue valley: Positively Great News For Rogue Valley Families In Need! - 03/11/09 04:53 PM
I heard some great news today about a local non-profit that is benefiting from our current economy. Tablerock Fellowship in Medford Oregon has been working on expanding the capacity of their Food Pantry to meet the community's growing needs. The number of people being served has jumped from 600 to over 2,200 per month in only a few months.
This non-denominational Christian church that is attended by 2,500 Rogue Valley people (and growing rapidly) has a lot of talent in its congregation. Many of these folks have construction skills, and are stepping in to help with the construction of a new … (4 comments)

rogue valley: Southern Oregon Social Networking Addicts – Want To Meet Your Peers? - 03/10/09 08:28 AM
Here in Southern Oregon, social networking is taking hold. From Active Rain to Facebook to Twitter, more and more people are discovering the benefits and enjoyment to be found in social networking. What about the personal contact, though? I'm hearing about peer groups meeting around the US to keep the personal contact in the equation.
So, fellow Southern Oregon Active Rainers, want to meet each other in person once a month? How about Southern Oregons on Facebook? Or Twitterers located here in Southern Oregon, how about you? A couple of my favorite Twitterers, @inProgress and @inWorship have tweeted me about this … (0 comments)

rogue valley: Have You Been To Camelot Theatre In Talent Oregon? - 03/09/09 03:40 PM
One of the things my husband and I used to do a lot before the wee babe (now bigger than their one grandmother, and headed to overtake the other in height soon) came along changing our entertainment choices from small theater dramatic performances to Disney movies and the Circus. Here we are discussing possible career choices and their associated schooling, and we realized "Woohoo! No more Kidz Bop in the car...no more Disney movies." We can go to First Friday Art Walk in Ashland and Third Friday Art Walk in Medford. We can go to the theater. And we can do … (6 comments)
