artips: How do YOU to stack up? Top 100 SUBSCRIBED to BLOGGERS in the Rain
- 02/25/12 09:08 AM
Who are the top 100 SUBSCRIBED to BLOGGERS in the Rain? We all know why we blog... or do we? I know that my reasons for blogging over the years have changed; a couple of times actually. When I started back in April of ‘08 I had no idea what I was about to embark on in this new place called ActiveRain! I had even less of an idea that I would actually fall in love with writing about the Triangle; where Lee & I live, work, and play.Back then I MADE myself write. I posted 12 blogs my first month (13 comments)
artips: Pump UP the VOLUME...

Time to PUMP UP THE VOLUME on your videos that is!! If you haven’t joined the VBloggers group yet then you’re missing out on a whole lot of great info, ideas, and ways to attract even more yummy ‘Google’ juice to your blogs!
So far this year we’ve grown to over 400 members AND have gotten some great input and examples of different styles of videos, what works and what doesn’t!Now having a spin off is always such a compliment and Debb Janes has done just that with her new YouTube Thursdays Group. What a great idea and way for (9 comments)
All I can say is this really proves the power of our ActiveRain blogs... AND that it’s not just ‘other Realtors’ reading our blogs!!!I had heard about this tool some time ago but for some reason I didn’t add it until earlier this year.
I wish I would have done so when I first started out... So as I was reviewing my blog site I decided to take a closer look at my stats. (106 comments)
I happened across Abe’s post yesterday about the new iPhone and iPad iOS5! upgrade. I got right on it last night like a bee on honey - but whoa...
BUT not so fast hotshot... I had to upgrade my iTunes account first - that took over 2 hours. Then once that was done I updated the iOS 5 - which took over 7 hours...
Margaret did a splendid job recapping the steps of how to download this morning: Here Is What We Have Been Waiting For...iOS 5 (22 comments)
Oh where oh where can my subscribers be? One of the nicest and BEST compliments a fellow rainer can give is to subscribe to your blog here in ActiveRain. It means that they like what you write. In fact they like what you write ENOUGH to want to be notified when you write something new! How cool is that?On a recent chat with a new RainMaker member Alan Morris - I realized that it’s not all that easy to locate just where that subscriber list is! Sometimes (as an oldie ~ but goodie right?) we take for granted (32 comments)
Here’s what I dictated to my iPad using Dragon Dictation to create this blog. All I did was dictate what I wanted right into the iPad - then I emailed it to myself. **Confession** - I did have to clean up some of the text and added the formatting to make sense, punctuate and 'make pretty' but hey, it was really pretty neat. Try it!
New feature here in the Rain!!! More buttons to push!
One thing we’ve come to rely on around here is how the folks that turn the wheels here in the Rain are constantly making things better and better for us. I know we’ve all had our wish lists and I’ve even seen them add some of those but this morning as I logged in I was so surprised to find not just the regular suggest and reblog buttons but all of these! And look where they are... a perfect spot for us to +, like and LI (6 comments)
Just a quick ARTip (which will be very basic for a lot of you experienced bloggers out there) on how to add a link using your title (or any other description you want). Something that comes in handy! Especially as the ActiveRain contests are catching on... We know that for each contest we want to enter we have to add the link to our post in the comment section. And in so doing hopefully others will read it too... Sounds easy enough right?
But here’s what I’m seeing (21 comments)
artips: Videos; a quick tutorial on how to embed & center your video in a blog post

Things are really starting to shake in the VBlogggers! group. Especially with the upcoming 1st annual ActiveRain talent competition challenge beginning, thanks to Stacey Smith! The group has added over 30 new members this week-end! Welcome everyone to the video craze!Video is something kind of new to some folks here in the rain. So to answer some questions that I’m getting asked quite a bit I thought I’d put together a house keeping ARTip post this morn on videos.First of all getting your video ready once you’ve uploaded it to YouTube (or where ever else you store yours) in order to (40 comments)
I know that folks like Jeff Turner, whom I really respect, and others have discussed the merits of marketing with QR codes for some time now. I had first heard about them a few years back at one of our REBCRDU, however I wasn’t really too excited about them until I got my DROID X - it was then that they worked for me. You can read more on why that was DroidX - you betcha!
Then in October RealBird added these funny looking squares to all of our listings with QR (17 comments)

Wish lists...I’ve read the few floating around ActiveRain in the last little while, and there are some really great ideas... I’ve even added one or two I'd like to see myself. However, it dawned on me that I don’t think most of us use what we already have here in the rain. Case in point was a contact I received asking how do I get that great ending at the bottom of my posts? So here are TWO of my faves....

Videos here videos there, videos seem to be popping up everywhere these days. And for good reasons! We love them...
According to Mashable:
As of February 2011, YouTube has 490 million unique users worldwide per month, who rack up an estimated 92 billion page views each month. We spend around 2.9 billion hours on YouTube in a month — over 325,000 years. And those stats are just for the main YouTube website — they don’t incorporate embedded videos or video watched on mobile devices.
One of the reason’s I started the VBloggers group was (22 comments)

Some time ago I wrote about Tags - 'Taggled up over Tags?' Well, I was going to get organized. But as we all know good intentions.... yeah right. So today I was looking for a previous post that I had done to add the link to Dog Days in June... but I was having a problem finding it. Then low and behold I found something right on the side of my edit page that I never noticed!! <insert pic>
Right there that little box - more info... list my tags?
As some of you may remember I was so lucky to ‘win’ my first iPad in the Tom Ferry blogging contest “My Life by Design”... That was last spring. I was so excited the day it arrived. Lee caught me opening the box on video - which I posted in There’s more to AR than just blogging.
Then I was honored to come in second place in the first ever Carolina Blog Brawl last November which won me another iPad opportunity! Who says blogging doesn’t pay??
Cloud computing; You could probably asked a dozen Realtors® what that means and get at least 8 different descriptions
It's a term that's been used time and time again, and means different things to different folks... So here's my 2 Cents ~ Cloud computing means for me the capacity and availability to get my information from more than just my office computers. Cloud computing can be a full out application, data sharing, and/or collaborating with my team.Cloud computing is something that I have (48 comments)
What’s your favorite editing tool for blogging? Mine’s been ScribeFire for a long time. ScribeFire is a free add-on that works with FireFox, Chrome, Safari, or Opera and it works on either a MAC or PC. I use it for all sorts of things. One of the features of ScribeFire I find very useful is the split screen like you’ll see in the tutorial video below.
It’s great for taking notes while surfing for facts from other sites. I (37 comments)
This is a quick tutorial on how to get your pictures to line up correctly when posting on Active Rain. As I moseyed around today I found a lot of posts with the pictures and text running into each other...
Hope this quick video helps - let me know if you have any questions.
Leave me a comment if it worked for you! (14 comments)
