woodland hills: HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN WOODLAND HILLS - 12/06/11 06:28 AM
HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN WOODLAND HILLS is a special treat.  The area features two of the largest regional shopping centers in the Woodland Hills Promenade and the Topanga Mall.  Both are lavishly decorated in the Holiday spirit with Christmas music filling the stores and all kinds of activities for the kids.  After an exciting Christmas shopping spree, check out some family fun at Woodland Hills Ice the ice skating rink in the northwest corner of the Promenade.  Ventura Blvd offers numerous eclectic shops such as Rozsas Couture when you are looking for that unique gift for someone special.  Finish the evening with dinner at a Woodland Hills landmark … (1 comments)

woodland hills: WOODLAND HILLS COMMUNITY THEATER - 11/21/11 09:01 AM
THE WOODLAND HILLS COMMUNITY THEATER is one of the local gems of the West Valley.  The group started in a church in 1986 and moved to its current home, The West Valley Playhouse in the old Fire Station on Owensmouth Ave in Canoga Park in October of 2000.  The building is an attraction in itself.  Loaded with nostalgia it harkens back to another era before mega movie complexes and satelite TV.  There is an attached museum featuring many articles and pictures of bygone times in the local area.  The theater interior is small allowing for close interaction with the actors and engages one in the performance.  The … (0 comments)

woodland hills: WOODLAND HILLS, AFFORDABLE HOMES, GREAT FOR FAMILIES - 11/20/11 09:53 AM
Woodland Hills offers some of the most affordable home prices in the City for such high quality interesting and eclectic neighborhoods.  In addition to an abundance of condominiums and townhouses, there are 3 single family homes currently on the market for under $300,000.00 including a fixer upper located in the hills South of Ventura Blvd.  There are 22 homes currently listed between $300,000.00 and $400,000.00.  Most of these are between 1000-1600 square foot depending on location and most are situated on lots that are between 6000-8000 sq ft.  This price range provides a variety of styles predominently on established quiet tree lined streets in what are … (0 comments)

woodland hills: WOODLAND HILLS NIGHT LIFE - 11/17/11 04:11 AM
WOODLAND HILLS NIGHT LIFE: The local folks that live in the quiet neighborhoods in Woodland Hills south of Ventura Blvd know that on any evening there is entertainment and lively activity just a short walk away.  Numerous little Bistros line the Blvd west of Desoto Ave and come to life at night with patio dining and everything from live music to karaoke for entertainment.  Have a beer at the Pickwick Pub, Karaoke at Paolis after an alfredo pizza, or catch the sports crowd for Monday Night Football at Soups Sports Bar.  There is some great nostalgia in some of the traditional old favorites such as My Brothers Bar B.Q. which has been a Woodland … (0 comments)

woodland hills: THE FUTURE OF WOODLAND HILLS REAL ESTATE - 11/15/11 05:18 AM
THE FUTURE OF WOODLAND HILLS REAL ESTATE in my opinion is one of the brightest in the Valley.  For many years, Woodland Hills has been a sleepy suburb tucked away in the Southwest Valley.  When I first started in Real Estate in 1977 it was thought to be just a little too far out and the 101 Freeway made it an unattractive commute for many of the high income shakers and movers on the West Side.  At the same time, Woodland Hills was touted by a popular periodical, L.A. Magazine, as one of the safest areas of the city and one of … (0 comments)

woodland hills: SLOW DOWN WHEN PASSING TAFT HIGH SCHOOL - 11/10/11 06:41 AM
SLOW DOWN WHEN PASSING TAFT HIGH SCHOOL is some of the best advice I can give to drivers headed East along Ventura Blvd in Woodland Hills.  Passing over the crest of Chalk Hill it is easy for vehicles to rapidly accelerate as they head down the grade towards Winnetka Ave.
Safety of course is the first issue.  Almost any time of day numerous pedestrians cross  Ventura Blvd frequenting the many little shops and restaurants that line the corner.  Students are almost always present especially between 7-9 AM and 3-5 PM.  In addition, cars are slowing down to enter the large parking lot for … (0 comments)

woodland hills: CABLES RESTAURANT, A WOODLAND HILLS LANDMARK - 11/04/11 10:24 AM
Cables Restaurant, a Woodland Hills landmark just west of the corner of Ventura and Desoto has been one of my favorites since moving to Woodland Hills in 1987.  Cables Restaurant maintained an old fashioned country diner atmosphere while providing an ever changing, and in later years, more health conscious menu.  I was concerned recently to find that my old hangout had been sold to the Lamplighter Restaurant chain.  Flatscreen TV's appeared on the wall, the plants were taken away, and the pies in the case behind the counter were replaced by a presentation of assorted exotic beers and wines now available.  I … (0 comments)

woodland hills: THE WEST VALLEY FOOD PANTRY IN WOODLAND HILLS RECEIVES SUPPORT - 11/02/11 09:26 AM
THE WEST VALLEY FOOD PANTRY IN WOODLAND HILLS is receiving support from Sierra's Mexican Restaurant in Canoga Park. The West Valley Food Pantry is located at 5700 Rudnick Ave, in Woodland Hills.  They are one of the very few entities assisting the less fortunate in Woodland Hills and the greater West Valley.  Woodland Hills is an affluent area and the financial struggles are not so visible.  Many of the folks needing assistance are not homeless or without jobs, but illness, pay reductions, etc have left many with little to keep their family fed.  Some of those seeking assistance were donors in the not so distant past. Sierra's is a renowned … (0 comments)

woodland hills: TRICK OR TREAT IN WOODLAND HILLS - 10/31/11 05:34 AM
Even most younger parents today can reminisce about the "Good Old Days" and the excitment of getting just the right costume for a night out walking the neighborhood acquiring enough free candy and assorted goodies to last a month.  The cool autumn nights had a crispness in the air and occasionally a full moon cast shadows that added to the intrigue of that haunted night.  Would you like to find such an atmosphere in modern day Los Angeles.  Let me suggest a family evening out in Woodland Hills.  There are a variety of family neighborhoods that are considered some of the … (0 comments)

woodland hills: WOODLAND HILLS CHURCH HOSTS "BORDER RADIO" - 10/28/11 07:16 AM
St Luke Lutheran Church at 5312 Comercio Way has recently been holding concerts once a month called "Musical Sundays" for the benefit of the West Valley Food Pantry.  The month of October featured "Border Radio", an interesting and eclectic combination of country and new age.  They have also included a Fine Arts display and raffle as part of the activities.  All of the goods, services, and raffle prizes were donated by the local Woodland Hills businesses and the workers, including the band, are all volunteers.  100% of the proceeds raised are donated and there is no overhead.  Please watch for upcoming … (0 comments)

woodland hills: WHY REAL ESTATE? WHY NOT? - 09/26/11 12:19 PM
As I sat finishing my lunch and watching the closing bell on Wall Street and the Dow falling nearly 390 points, I wondered how long American investors would be willing to leave their future in the hands of others. I listen to one highly educated consultant after another contradict each other as to the future, and most simply seem to be salesmen. Many of the more conservative folks that I know have characteristically kept their money in government insured instruments. Although few of these folks have any doubt as to the safety of these investments they are frustrated by the fact … (1 comments)
