In Australia, Sugar Cane farmers were being plagued by an insect in its larvae stage that not only attacked the Cane crop, but did it in such a way that required some action or whole fields of crops would be lost. You see the insect, while in its larvae stage, tunnels into the root of the Sugar Cane and just stays there feeding.
