public relations: 80's RADIO APPLY TO POSTS COMMENTS TODAY - 03/02/20 06:48 AM
I remember when I volunteered to help out a friend who ran a successful radio program back in the 80's and played the role of a producer, call-in screener, announcer, marketer and subject prep person. I knew nothing about broadcasting, radio, recordings, sound and so much more but I was going to learn. After many months, it all made sense & fun. There are/were some do and don'ts in this professional world that I took away when I left
DON'T DATE THE BROADCAST

public relations: BOAST-A- POST activerain challenge - 01/17/20 11:03 AM
How profitable it is to know and be known to all who are involved in doing so. Welcome Rainers and here is another opportunity to do so in the form of a challenge with points (yay) and benefits to both the player and their chosen post-author. You see we are going to take anyones posting or blog past or present and lime-light it. Let me explain so we can get this going
THAT POST WITH THE MOST
We have all seen them and even have written them. Those special postings that make a point, present or clarify an idea, become informative or inspirational, lend education or … (77 comments)

public relations: PUBLIC RELATIONS IS NO MYTH - 12/17/18 09:01 AM
Relating to the public appears to be easy on the surface. What could be easier? You have told & sold your friends, family, neighbors and select people various things over-time and for the most part everything went well and was predictable. Even if it didn't, the stakes were not high enough to cause blow-back, feed-back or get-back dynamics. Let's explore this to see how far public relations goes & why
BUSINESS
Try brushing someone off or ignoring them for any length of time (or first time) while expecting their business won't work. How do we know this? The paying (or hope to be) customer morphs into & … (6 comments)

public relations: WHAT DOES THE PUBLIC THINK? - 04/01/16 12:17 AM
Have you ever read a posting or comment, paused and then wondered what others may think of what you just read or seen? You should. More and more taking place today, is the reality of what one does or says and how it sticks around or affects others not just now, but in times to come. Today's activity may be tomorrows faux pas or worse still... a contradiction!
WHOA THERE!
I cringe when I read about anyone who is professional revealing profession secrets, thoughts or even making derogatory remarks and not just to their peers, but even to and about the public at large. The choice to … (20 comments)

public relations: IS THERE AN ITCH OUTBREAK OVER THERE? - 09/16/14 06:50 AM
People on Twitter and Facebook want to know what is going on over at Trulia and ActiveRain. Is there an "ITCH" epidemic breaking out? Zillow wants to know right now before they write the 3.5 billion dollar check too. LOL...No, we are all getting ready to maximize our Internet presence starting now for later and beyond by copying the past successes of having a tag-line
SCRATCH IT ITCH WITH RICH CONTEST
THIRTY DAYS HALF GONE?
Where does time go? In cyberspace, no worries! But down here on the earthly plains, the clock is ticking and has ticked for those that are contemplating getting their tag-line game … (2 comments)

public relations: DO FEMALE AGENTS HAVE AN EDGE OVER MALE AGENTS - 07/26/13 12:13 AM
This may be where curiosity not only killed the cat, but the original poster (me) too. Guys, be gentle with me. I am in earnest. Do potential clients have a preference over women to men or vice verse when it comes to their Real Estate needs? What is the prevailing point I wonder? Do women agents succeed more often than a male agent or does the gender matter?
FOR THE WOMEN.....
I mean, your pictures look good, you dress well, and you are easy to engage. Does all that give you an edge for a listing or sale? We know sex sells and … (225 comments)

public relations: TRUE REAL ESTATE TALES: THE CLASSIC OPEN HOUSE - 07/05/13 03:50 AM
Many years ago, when MLS books were given out and you could find a Real Estate office in nearly every neighborhood, the most pleasant experience for all concerned was holding and or attending an open house. It wasn't just for buyers and seller either. Neighbors got a chance to see the inside of a home that they only knew from the outside. Ideas, making new friends and of course the most valuable data of all...THE PRICING awaited them
NEST EGGS
You see a neighbor was always interested in the price of a home that was either selling or had sold. A … (8 comments)

public relations: THE ONLY WAY TO PASS A DIEHARD ACTIVERAINER IS IF THEY STOP BLOGGING - 06/14/13 10:44 PM
I have been #17 for so long that I feel like I am not moving. What happened is I have stumbled into a group of my like minded bloggers who actively promote themselves by blogging and posting. I have tried to gain an advantage by entering contests, but they enter them too. I even post past weekly points allotted hoping to pick up a few stray points and still no progress
TERMINATOR BLOGGERS?
These are a tough bunch of hombre's these ActiveRainers. They blog, post, comment and it even appears they go without sleep and the only way for me catch-up … (141 comments)

public relations: SHOULD YOU REALLY BE POSTING THAT ONLINE? - 06/13/13 06:38 AM
When posters run out of things to say that are interesting and meaningful, the temptation to just say anything kicks in. This results in posts that are redundant as well as rants or vents. The draw to get points also prompts a poster to proceed sometimes without thinking it through but instead adding up the points to come. Somethings I have read about the inner workings of the Real Estate business remain too revealing as well
BUYERS DO THIS...SELLERS DO THAT...
For one thing, I have seen a lot of complaining about buyers, sellers, and appraisers and the like and often … (8 comments)

public relations: BEST PRINT CAMPAIGN OF ALL - 05/15/13 04:34 AM
We have all be doing this particular print campaign for most of our business lives. We dove into it and became complacent about it at some point and neglected it because it wasn't broken and didn't not require fixing. Besides, we complied. But what about updating? Fine tuning? Effectiveness? Target acquired? You have one now in your wallet or purse but is it pulling its weight?
THE BUSINESS CARD
Pull your out right now...please just do it. Now look at it. Is it speaking to you? What is it saying? Now, I want you to speak to it. Tell it how … (12 comments)

public relations: POSTS ARE ELECTRONIC VERSIONS OF YOU - 12/29/12 11:29 PM
Have you ever answered the door in your pajamas? You had to respond to the knock or doorbell and time caused you to take a short cut. However, the door was answered, but it wasn't your best self. Something similar takes place when placing a post in position to launch. If it isn't all there, if it doesn't have your best on point, well at least you posted...right? WRONG
THAT POST IS AN ELECTRONIC VERSION OF YOU
If you go back about fifty years, everyone wore a suit and a tie with a hat. It was unheard of to go around … (6 comments)

public relations: NEVER UNDERESTIMATE ACTIVERAIN SEARCH FEATURE - 11/11/12 10:02 PM
I received an email from a person who is interested in entering the food industry and particularly in the roasting of nuts. I have included the emails at the bottom of this post. the point I am making is that posting here on ACTIVERAIN will pay-off providing you stay the course and make it your daily habit to do so. Your business will profit from this as well as new opportunities too
I WENT NUTS 3 TIMES IN THE RAIN
Below is a series of posts I did on roasting nuts. Well someone looked them all up and contacted me to … (8 comments)

public relations: SECOND IMPRESSIONS HAVE LESS VALUE THAN FIRST - 11/05/12 10:43 PM
Everywhere I go, I stand ready to answer the question that comes up often for me. What do you do for a living? To make the most of that answer, I have come up with a one liner that seems pretty effective. It had to be brief, to the point, tell the story and leave an impression. Not so easy on the spot to do unless your prepared
I AM A AGENT THAT HELPS PEOPLE GET IN OR OUT OF REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS SUCCESSFULLY
This little short one liner has helped me tremendously over the years both in the moment and … (6 comments)

public relations: POST OF DREAMS BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME - 09/05/12 01:35 AM
Field of dreams posts is what I am talking about. Go back several years and call to your mind how important it was to have business cards. PAUSE here. You would not even think of leaving your home unless you had them and lots of them to pass out and leave behind on counters in homes wherever you went. Today, blogging, posting and commenting is like a business card
WORKING OR NOT?
You never knew if your card was doing the work that you hoped it would do, but you always knew that it was out there because you put it … (9 comments)

public relations: A MANI AND PEDI FOR YOUR HOME - 06/21/12 12:05 AM
Lawns speak. They have much to say to people who are coming and going. They will not be ignored too. Consider that if your lawn is yellow, dying or full or patches of dirt, that is its message. If it is vibrant, full of life, green and healthy, well that is making a statement too
HELLO...I AM FOR SALE
Curb appeal is one of those things that we over look or that has a low priority when it comes to listing and selling a home. Too often, the neglected lawn is apologized for and the focus quickly shifts to the home and … (12 comments)

public relations: GETTING TO KNOW YOU AND YOU KNOW ME - 06/17/12 12:29 AM
I remember many years ago before I became a Real Estate agent I remember seeing a group of people pull up in my neighborhood and get out of a car and huddle around on the curb. They were not in a hurry, moved like they belong there and got my attention. I assumed it was a religious group or a candy drive in play
PAIRED AND THEN SPLIT UP
These perfectly groomed and poised people then went into pairs of male and female and headed in different directions. They were going from door to door introducing themselves. I saw them from a distance and wondered what that was all … (11 comments)

public relations: WHEN SOMEONE WRITES A POST FOR YOU - 06/07/12 03:42 AM
How would anyone know?  I just read two posts on this subject of Ghost writing and I am not tempted to doubt the author of any post. I am reading the subject matter and assessing its value. I am not investigating it. Isn't quite common for product manufacturers to hire Public Relations specialists to market their products?
TAKE A MEMO
Don't secretaries write short letters and memos for their bosses all the time? The point of the communication is the focus not who wrote it? Rubber stamping comes to mind too. Its not someones real signature, but it represents them. Now, lets … (11 comments)

public relations: REMEMBER WHEN PERSONAL LICENSE PLATES CAME OUT - 04/16/12 07:25 AM
It was a revenue generator for the state plus it was fun and exciting to do. All the good names came out and that made others request their cute little titles too. Of course, in those days, it all had to be done via mail and you would have to snail mail back and forth to find out if your name was accepted
EVERYONE I WANTED WAS TAKEN
If and when you received confirmation, you couldn't wait for it to come in the mail. Now I was a johnny come lately on this and all ideas that I had that would please … (7 comments)

public relations: REMEMBER MY LITTLE BLOGGERS WE ARE LIVE AND ON THE AIR - 04/06/12 01:03 AM
Every once in a while either me or someone else reminds us that we are not just posting, commenting, and blogging but doing it in a public permanent arena. That should cause most of us to choose our words and responses with that in mind. We are not casually chatting back and forth, but advertising who we are and how we think..Losing it in public is not recommended
WHERE IS THE INTERNET
Remember, you cannot take things back that enter into the mysterious world of cyberspace. Where is the Internet? You cannot go there, touch it or tell anyone where it is? … (94 comments)

public relations: JUST WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET FEATURED - 03/04/12 02:19 AM
An ActiveRain feature is like finding money in your pants pocket or in a drawer that you forgot about. Not just two cents, but big enough to cause surprise and happiness. A feature can also be like you just won something and it doesn't matter what it was, but that you won. A feature can also be a surprise similar to a birthday party
FEATURE ORIGINS
Features get their strength from posts...posts come from people who participate in the Rain. People from different parts of the country belt out a Real Estate experience or story and it becomes news worthy.
DAILY DROP
When that … (17 comments)
