As most of us have come to learn after paying our dues to the copius national, state and local associations, fees increased this year. Robert Friedman of NAR assured us in the October Issue of Realtor Magazine that these fee increases are to fund the new political action committee arm of NAR called My Realtor Party. This measure was needed to insure that we have people lobbying government on our behalf.

As Realtors® we simply accept MLS as a part of life.  For that matter, the association is part of our day to day business as well.  Brokers are required to join, and are strong armed into requiring their agents to join.
Don't get me wrong.  I think the association plays a valuable role; although, I don't think it is a role that can only be filled by them.  Currently membership in a local association affiliated with the National Association of Realtors® is required for MLS access.  Furthermore, once a candidate becomes a licensed agent and able to sell anywhere in the … (21 comments)
