pickleball national championship: I Am Somebody!

One of my favorite scenes in the movie, The Jerk, is when Steve Martin's character excitedly exclaims, "I am somebody!" Yes, I have had one of those moments. Recently, I participated in the pickleball Nationals at Margaritaville, aka Pickleball Paradise. I need to let you know, we made it in in the lowest level, 3.0. Still, it was an honor to participate. We were there with many number one players in their category, including the women's number one singles player, Anna Leigh Waters. She is only 14 years old! pickleball national championship: Rusch Park Fall Classic Pickleball Tournament

Many of my friends from Runnin for Rhett and I had the opportunity to play in the Rusch Park Fall Classic Pickleball Tournament this weekend. It was a blast and our friend and pickleball mentor, Brian, started one of the days off right with an incredible coffee bar. Brian gave us a definite edge! More about Brian later. The competitions was very stiff and we had some great matches. My partners in mixed doubles and men's doubles played fantastic and helped carry our teams to second place finishes in our 3.0 division.

pickleball national championship: Not a Chance, Dad!

"There is not a chance that I am chasing a Wiffle Ball all over a silly, little court," I answered my dad a few years ago when he invited me to play Pickleball. Two things about that statement. One, I know God has a real sense of humor because every time I make a emphatic statement like that, it turns out to be 100% wrong. Two, I should have known, dad is always right.
