PebbleCreek is hosting a tournament this week and today's event will feature men's doubles. It has been really fun watching friends compete in women's doubles and mixed doubles, but today my partner, Erik and I get to play at high noon at the O.K. Corral. Well, it will not be that intense, but we do have our first match at noon. We have been hard at work getting ready and it will be tough. I am moving up to the 3.5 division. The sales price of single family homes in Elk Grove is still up over the last year, but since the Fed started raising interest rates earlier this year, the average price of homes has dropped 7% from $703,000 to $654,000. On Average, homeowners have lost $49,000 in a very short period of time. It is clear that the Fed will be raising interest rates again at their next meeting. They have made their strategy very clear. The first Runnin for Rhett Elk Grove Pickleball Classic is now under way. It is an exciting day and it is hard to believe that just a few short years ago, our friend Brian Guzman, pickleball ambassador extraordinaire, introduced this sport to our running group. How did he have so much patients with us to get us here. Brian at the Runnin for Rhett Tent Today features the women's doubles competition, while Saturday and Sunday feature the mixed doubles and men's doubles competition. One of my favorite scenes in the movie, The Jerk, is when Steve Martin's character excitedly exclaims, "I am somebody!" Yes, I have had one of those moments. Recently, I participated in the pickleball Nationals at Margaritaville, aka Pickleball Paradise. I need to let you know, we made it in in the lowest level, 3.0. Still, it was an honor to participate. We were there with many number one players in their category, including the women's number one singles player, Anna Leigh Waters. She is only 14 years old! Our pickleball journey and the road to Margaritaville started out a few years ago. My wife came into our living room and said, "get your shoes on, we belong to a running club now."
