The prevailing wisdom has always been to head West. It may have started with Horace Greeley, who said, "Washington is not a place to live in. The rents are high, the food is bad, the dust is disgusting and the morals are deplorable. Go West, young man, go West and grow up with the country." California has matured and it is more applicable these days to say, Go East, young person. In California the taxes are high. Home prices and rents are high. Why Elk Grove? What makes Elk Grove, CA special and attractive as a place to live? I thought I would ask some of our long term residents for their collective wisdom. Here is what they had to say: Elenice Gomez-When we first moved here 16 years ago, affordability and the schools were the deciding factors.
